April 2019 Surgeries!

Initially, my burps where sooooo uncomfortable, but now they are more of an annoyance than anything. My surgeon won't let me do purées until next month. 😮 -

Another update: My sleeve was on the 4th and my first follow-up was today. Everything went well. The incisions are healing nicely with slight oozing in one and my first NSV - my blood pressure has already dropped from prehypertension levels to normal. My surgeon seemed surprised by my burping complaint. Thankfully, it's getting better each day. Now, only if I could chew something. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -
Coffee , 2 weeks post op ?
I Am Groot replied to Lizbethj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Coffee with non-dairy creamer is on my clear liquid list. I've had it starting 4 days post op and confirmed that it did not need to be decaf. I've done well compensating for the diuretic effect of caffeine. ....but every surgeon is different... -

I'm another April 4th patient, but I have to wait until Monday before I can move on to full liquids. Uuggh. -

Mine did the opposite. It was supposed to start the day of surgery, but I have yet to see it. No idea what to expect at this point, with the rapid weight loss and hormone release. -
New here...surgery date scheduled for 4/11/19
I Am Groot replied to LabGoddess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome and best of luck to you! I was sleeved on 4/4/19 and never experienced pain. Apparently, I don't know how to sip liquids and am always introducing air into my GI tract. :-) FYI - don't introduce air into your GI tract. -
April 2019 Surgeries!

Had to get Cath put in urg!! I know this may sound cliche, but did you try running water? I couldn't pee after surgery, though the urgency was present. My sister-in-law came to check on me and I told her what was wrong. She turned on the water, stated it helped my brother after gastric bypass, and ta-da, I immediately peed. Sorry to read about the cath. -

Congratulations and welcome :-) If things go accordingly, you should be able to ditch the pain meds asap. -
April 2019 Surgeries!
I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome!!!! I have a bruised tummy as well. Also, in another thread, someone mentioned setting a timer for every 15 minutes as a reminder to sip 1oz of water. As annoying as it sounds, it's saving me right now. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -
April 2019 Surgeries!

I brought a small sling bag of items, but the only things I used were chapstick, phone, and phone charger. I would have done some reading, but my brother was there to keep me company...or I was sleeping. Lol. The nurse seemed impressed with my light packing. Perfect...because I have a bread maker that I used only once before I decided to have surgery. :-) -
Overeating with Sleeve
I Am Groot replied to comingupmilhouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I understand your concern about gobbling down some delicious potatoes. This is the very reason why my nutritionist and surgeon excludes potatoes and grits from the first part of the soft food stage. I wish you the best and hope your nutritionist will be able to help you figure out how to combat your dizzy spells. -

Ladies — post op period
I Am Groot replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm dreading my first post-op period, which is due at any time. It was supposed to start the day of surgery, but....**shrugs** My pre-op periods were never too pleasant, so I'm freaking out a little bit about the first on post-op. -

I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First things first - Good luck to all of the 2nd week sleevers. You got this! I look forward to reading your stories! Now the me part. Lol. I went into surgery on April 4th weighing around 303 lbs. I came out at 307, but now that my body finished processing the IV fluids, I'm at 299. I am constipated, so today, I'll start taking Miralax. I have no pain and the few discomforts I had are improving exponentially. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -

April 2019 Surgeries!
I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought a tiny bag - flip flops, pajama bottoms, biotene dry mouth spray, tablet, phone, chargers, deo, toothpaste/toothbrush, and lotion. Out of all if that, I only used my phone and it's charger. I slept and talked to family the day of. The next day, I was restless and ready to go home. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -

April 2019 Surgeries!
I Am Groot replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's my post op report - everything is good! Yesterday, the pressure from the gas was the thing that bothered me most, but they gave me sublingual tablets to help alleviate it. I had some broth and a popsicle last night and a few sips of water today. Right now, I'm walking around the room, waiting for discharge orders. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -
