Dr. Matthew Weiner has a lot of informational videos on YouTube. He covers a wide range of topics, I’ve learned a lot by watching him. This first video on metabolic thermostat/set point was a lightbulb moment for me. How bariatric surgery changes your hunger, metabolism and even your tastes for certain foods. Metabolic Thermostat This one is titled: Bariatric revisions, Will they help or not? Bariatric revision As always, listen to your own Doctor -

Have you ever planned a really nice dinner, spent a lot of time and effort and even ordered/bought new Ingredients just to make that dinner, and it turns out fine, but not worth it? I made Rick Bayless‘ Pastor recipe tonight, I think my fatal mistake was using pork loin vs shoulder. It looked so good, but honestly I prefer his Frontera Grill prepackaged marinades. They taste better and they are way easier! -

Normally I don’t bake, if I get anything gluten free I buy it. He doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth. I used. Namaste baking blend from Costco. My son blended it with a hand blender and I didn’t worry about it getting tough because there is no gluten. It got tough! -

We splurged tonight, it is my husband’s 65th birthday! (I’m married to an official senior citizen) I made his favorites: Prime ribeye, which I overcooked a bit, asparagus and mashed potatoes. He’s allergic to wheat so my youngest son and I made him Gluten Free banana bread. Normally sugary/bakery things are pretty good with alternative flours..Not this! I could have bounced it off the floor. This meal was too dense for me so I didn’t eat much, I forgot how much I love mashed potatoes! I made up for his rubber bread by using a tacky candle that plays Happy Birthday! -

My cherries look so pathetic. Now I want chocolate covered strawberries... If I had chocolate I’d dip these! -
I was trying to remember a few details on my weight loss timeline so I started reading my old posts. I had such fun reading it, A handful of posters are still active here from when I started and have really been a source of encouragement and support for me. I honestly don’t think I would have been as successful if I hadn’t jumped in and started posting. So thank you all, It’s comforting to log on and recognize people and meet new people. The people that are no longer posting were also a huge help, I hope they are all doing well. I tend to check the same threads when I log on so I probably miss a lot of what’s going on! It is kind of like having a journal, I’m so glad I kept active. If you are a newer poster stick with it, it really helps. I also had a good laugh reading through old threads! I kind of miss the monthly challenges that @GreenTealael used to host. If anyone feels up to it post any old posts, I found it very therapeutic and fun. Ps. @sillykitty I forgot you got me hooked on statement necklaces! I was a lurker on this forum for months before I posted. Here is my first post, March 29, 2019:

I lost very slowly also but I got there. After 5 months or so I really cleaned up my diet, same amount of calories 700-800 range. I cut back on processed foods and limited any starchy type carbs. I also joined a gym and started working out 5 days a week and that really helped. It was still slower than most people and it got frustrating at times. -
If you look closely you can see I bought a matching bell.

My husband and I got these bikes from Amazon, but you can find similar ones at bike stores. I believe the style is called cruisers. Mine is a 5 speed and it’s pretty comfortable to ride. Plus it looks cute!

That’s amazing! Congratulations!

I’m obsessed with cherries right now. I got 2 cartons from Costco the other day and we’re almost done with the first one. I’m going to be bummed when they are out of season. -
I log on this thread and remember people still get dressed! I’m still living in VERY casual clothes, most have paint all over them. Love the outfits, everyone looks so good!

Crack me up. I came up with the name Cheeseburgh when we were living in Pittsburgh *Squirrel Hill, 10 years ago. We lived there about 7 years. It’s my Wisconsin/Pittsburgh combo. I never made it to State College but my husband went there a lot for work. I was born and raised in Madison and it is a great place, especially if you love lakes. Odd fact about me: I HATE cheese unless it is melted mozzarella on pizza. -

How fun and it sounds glamorous! It made me laugh when I think of my celebrity encounter about the same timeframe since it was the polar opposite! I went to UW (Madison), I was at a house party and an older guy sat down next to me and we started chatting. He seemed annoyed with me because I wasn’t interested in talking to him. Finally he said, don’t you know who I am? I replied no. He introduced himself as Tom Wopat, I still had no clue. Then he said he was on The tv show Dukes of Hazzard. I just laughed and said sorry I don’t watch that show and left (I’m sure I was tipsy). That was true, but if the blond guy had been at that party I would have recognized him, he was the cute one. I didn’t watch either show but Miami Vice vs. Dukes of Hazzard is an easy call! -

I think I have frozen grapes at least 3 times a week. The seedless black grapes are my favorite. Costco was out of them last week and I had withdrawals. They did have cherries though! -

Order a few inexpensive tops that you think will fit from Amazon and a few pair of nice yoga pants. I think it’s important to have something that fits and makes you feel good. It is a good motivator! -
