My goal for May. Lose 5 pounds which would put me at 144. I am simply a slow loser so I have to set realistic goals. Workout at the gym a minimum of 3 days a week however workout 5-6 days a week. Keep my calories under 800. I don’t eat anything on that list specifically but I do have sugar free pudding, crackers and low carb tortillas on occasion. I’ll decide later if I’m going to cut those out for 10 days. I have my 9 month follow up later this month and my recent bloodwork all came back great.

#30. My goal is to never create a goal board. I’ll do the lunges and planks at the gym today. They correct me every time I do planks there and each time my time gets shorter! I end up doing 2-3 sets vs one long plank. If I let my hips sag I can go a lot longer! Even with my wonky scale issue I did meet my goal for April, which was to be in the 140’s.

WHY AM I NOT LOSING????
Cheeseburgh replied to BlessingsAhead's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is normal, how much did you expect to lose in 3 weeks? The first month involves a lot of adjusting. Search around this sight, you will see at least 30 recent threads about slow or stalled weight loss. 10 pounds in 3 weeks after major surgery is good. -
Went to the gym this morning, had a good workout. I have lost weight this month but psychologically it doesn’t feel like it. The scale I was using was driving me nuts, my weight was super inconsistent. I also always weighed 5 lbs more at the Dr. Turns out I was using it wrong (calibration issue). I bought a new scale a few weeks ago and my numbers went up 4 pounds. The good news is I lost those 4 pounds so I’m back to 149. My old scale says I’m at 145, I kinda miss being wrong!

I was advised to start off with egg beaters (basically egg whites in disguise) vs. whole eggs because they are easier to digest. -
Learn something new. I watched Brene Brown’s new special on Netflix (I love her), and I learned at least 10 things while watching it. Her books and TED talks on YouTube are really worth your time too. Debating if I’m going to the gym today, Sunday’s are crazy busy there. If not I’ll workout at home and go for a long walk. Deeber, I hate getting lost too, but not as extreme as you. I do love reading maps, whenever we go on vacation my husband knows to buy any kind of map we find along the way.

My husband and I go out a lot, added bonus, I’m the designated driver if he wants a few drinks. I do get tired of ordering water with lime/lemon. Last night I got a virgin Bloody Mary to change it up. I only had about 70 calories or so and it felt a bit more festive. I didn’t try this until I was 3 months post op and I didn’t have any problems with it. I was a bit worried since tomato juice is acidic.

If I had to pick one, my dream vacation would be going to the Amalfi Coast with access to a yacht.

5 things that make me happy A new outfit clean sheets (the above conversation inspired this) a good comedy a good nights sleep weighing a normal weight

squats and crunches done. I did a stretching thing from an app and it was pretty nice to do it, I may stick with that. Skipped the gym today but went for a long walk. I need to mix it up or I get sick of it! B side. I like checking in and also seeing how everyone is doing.

Lunges and plank (in 2) done, plus full workout at gym. I was not creative today, hopefully I’ll make that one up this week.

Texted a friend, went to the gym and did cardio. Making my favorite dinner tonight.

Need encouragement from slow losers
Cheeseburgh replied to Briswife15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just looked up my stats. At 4 months I lost 34.6 pounds. I’m 8 months out still losing slow, the past few months have been really slow but it’s still coming off. I have about 9 pounds until goal. I think you and I might have similar metabolisms! edited to add: Upside: I believe I am at a lower risk for regain because I have had to work pretty hard over the past few months to keep the scale moving. I don’t take 1 pound for granted. -

Need encouragement from slow losers
Cheeseburgh replied to Briswife15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 58 and a slow loser too. I’m about 8 months post op and I still get frustrated although I know firsthand it eventually comes off. I never had big weight drops and I have stalls all the time. I eat between 600-750 calories a day. I reduced my calories by 100 the past month. I’m still a slow loser. I lost 3-4 lbs a few weeks ago and even though I’ve increased my exercise I’m still at the same weight. It will drop, I just never know when. You will get there you just have to be prepared to be patient. -
5 year dream plan written and tucked away safely. I worked out really hard today and I feel like a noodle. I did incorporate the squats and lunges. B side. I never remember to take pictures of food but I enjoy looking at others.

I make healthy recipes all the time. Tonight was easy, just a grilled Filet Mignon salad. Did the lunges and plank. I found out from my trainer that my form was off so I have to split the plank into 2 parts now. I could do it when I let my butt sag!
-
Phone off is easy for me because I mostly use my iPad! I guess I should just unplug later tonight and watch a movie while paying attention. Going out to a very nice restaurant tonight, I’m so tired of chicken! I really hope I like the fresh catch tonight. I just got back from marathon shopping, unpacked, now heading back out, today might be the first day I miss the daily exercise challenge.
-
I am wiped out. I did 2 30 second planks instead. Met with personal trainer and he is not taking it easy on me! I’m going for a walk after dinner tonight, it’s beautiful out. B side: Shopping and out to dinner.

I’m really fortunate, my hospital has a state of the art gym. Bariatric patients are offered a 3 month membership for $100. It includes a personal trainer, before and after body composition and anything (including spin, classes and pool) you want to participate in. If I decide I like this gym it is $85 a month after that. I meet with my trainer this afternoon. I waited until I was closer to my goal weight because I knew that was when it was going to get tough! I think programs would be wise to offer this when feasible.

8 months out 78 lbs down 9 to go. I “stall” frequently, I try not to stress because I follow the program and it does come off. I upped my workouts and bought a new scale so I’m skipping weighing myself the next week. I just end up getting frustrated. my apologies I just saw this was in the bypass forum, I had VSG.

I’ll get the coffee one done next time I go to Dunkins. Squats & crunches done.

#17. I’ll substitute my favorite workout songs since that is what I listened to at the gym this morning.: (old lady alert) 24K Magic, Viva La Vida, This is Me (soundtrack Greatest Showman) and Raise your Glass. B. My confidence is back.

Ina has new shows on this weekend! My DVR is ready.

Went for a 30 minute walk today, did squats and plank. B side: Schitts Creek, The Great British baking show, (I don’t get hungry watching it) and Gilmore Girls on Netflix. Victoria on Amazon. I also am excited for Handmaids Tale and Big Little Lies to return.
