Thank you, I’m 5 pounds less but I think I look the same which is fine with me. I have zero aspirations to be a model lol. In hindsight it did go by very quickly but around February and March it felt like time stood still. My weight loss had really slowed down and I wasn’t certain how much and what to eat. Once I cleaned up my diet and joined a gym it started gelling for me again.

I’m actually 5.3 1/2. I always round up because I thought I was 5’4” my entire life! I have an athletic build and tend to look less than I weigh, at least that was the case before I gained weight over the past 10 years. I’m not really stuck on a number, I’m just getting my head in the right place.

I’ve slept on it and I don’t think I’m ready quite yet. I think I’ll change my goal by a few pounds while I figure this out. I’ll talk to the team at my 1 year follow up. If I know myself well enough, one of the main reasons I’m struggling with this is because I have my appointment next month. In my mind I’m not done until I finish 1 year. I never claimed I wasn’t crazy. The number 132 was arbitrary and I’m in no danger of slipping into an unhealthy BMI.

    ❤JULY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

I’m going to the gym today, the class I used to go to changed this week to “Extreme Fitness” ...yeah, I’m not going to that. The description of the class alone was intimidating. I’ll head out early today to avoid it! Current read: I isn’t a novel, but I love having this book to pick up a thumb through randomly. Lin-Manuel Miranda is such a clever and kind human. He wrote the plays, In the Heights and Hamilton, although everyone probably already knew that!
  6. I love this thread, it gives me the opportunity/reminder to look around a bit and appreciate my surroundings. I also enjoy everyone else’s pictures. My town has a very charming “downtown “. We went for a walk tonight and I snapped these pictures. If you see a lot of windmills, it’s because Batavia, IL has a long history with them and we have the largest collection in the US or something.

I’m totally getting “The Devil Wears Prada” vibe from your future outfit @KarenLR75 I am of hot flash age but they stopped a few years ago, I had it bad. Next summer you will be so much more comfortable in the heat.

    ❤JULY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

B side. I’m having a fantastic summer too. It’s so nice to be outside and active and not feel like I’m having heatstroke. I’ve been trying really hard to put myself out there and do more things, so we have been pretty busy. My sister has a fabulous summer home that we visit, maybe I’ll even go waterskiing this year. I agree about the clothes @ms.sss it is so nice to just throw something cute on and feel comfortable. Going to the Cubs game on Friday, it’s going to be close to 100 degrees. I hope I don’t melt.

Ok, got it, you had surgery a month after I did. I got the year 1969 from your profile, you list 12/30/1969 as your surgery date.
  10. I don’t know what qualifies as an older sleever, however I am 58 and 1 pound shy of my goal weight 11 months later. I’ve had to work harder and push myself to get here. I didn’t focus on cardio and strength training until I was about 5-6 months in. I was walking daily prior to that. My weight loss really slowed down so I knew I had to rev up my metabolism. Much to my dismay it worked... I’ve come to terms with Im going to have to exercise and eat right the rest of my life. I’m ok with that, I feel 100% better. I LOVE iced coffee, here is what I do. I buy Starbucks cold brew black at the grocery store. It comes in a 48 oz jar. I put it over ice with sugar free vanilla coffee creamer (35 calories) or add a flavored protein shake and it tastes great for a fraction of the calories. I have this every single morning without fail. Keep going, you’ve got this.

You look so put together @sillykitty. Here was my outfit this morning. This is my new fancy gym outfit lol. I was pretty nervous when I ordered these leggings, I never wear print pants. Cardio and half of the arm stuff done today.

    VSG with a lower BMI

I had surgery at 35.1, I didn’t lose as quickly as others but it came off! My Dr said to lose as much as possible prior to surgery to increase my chances of long term success. They only submit your highest weight for qualifying on my Aetna plan.

Thank you, it’s really nice hearing from someone who has had success. Did you have surgery in 1969? I’m pretty sure I’ll have to be relatively strict the rest of my life. My BMR numbers are about 1250 for my age (almost 59) and numbers. I have a feeling that I’m going to eventually end up around 1100 calories a day. I do track everything I eat and will continue to do so. I’ve been following @ms.sss maintenance journey which is helpful, however we have very different metabolisms! I never thought I would dread this stage.

I’m doing fine with eating, I don’t snack at all during the day. I do have a small snack before bed. My calories are still 700-800 a day, so I guess I’ll add 100 calories once I hit my goal weight of 132? I’m one pound away from my goal and one day this week I’ll probably wake up and be there. I’m a slow loser so I have no idea when really. I work out 6-7 days a week. I have dialed it back from 1.5 hours a day to 30-45 minutes a day the past month to avoid burnout. I’m glad WW is working for you, I don’t do well with it. Mentally changing gears is going to be hard for me.

I’m afraid I’m about to have an identity crisis. Who am I if I’m not losing weight? It has been such a big part of my life over the past 17 months or so. How did you cope or switch gears?

Little things that bring you joy

Clean sheets, underwear that fits really well and going to a restaurant/bar that has sugar free lemonade.
  18. I respectfully disagree. Severe GERD isn’t a joke, it’s painful, it carries an increased cancer risk and the reason for the revision is different. I’m glad people who choose to share their stories do so. I learn a lot just by reading, and like I stated earlier, I had no idea a revision for GERD was even a thing!

I don’t want to go to the gym today. I’m posting this to keep myself accountable. No excuses.
  20. I apologize I isolated the word anger from your post, you do strike me as angry about it, my bad. It clearly bothers you and I am confused why. I didn’t even know needing a revision for GERD was even a thing until I read about it last week. This sh*t is hard, everyone knows how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off. If I needed a medical revision, I would be scared, frustrated and hope for support. I also would be very proud of my weight loss.

    ❤My Revision Story❤

Happy Birthday and best wishes for a quick recovery!
  22. I lost 23 pounds in the 5 months prior to surgery. My clinic takes a pretty holistic approach with a lot of support.
  23. Getting a revision based on medical necessity (severe GERD) is a very important distinction and is helpful for everyone to be aware of. Secondly, everyone knows that revision surgeries are generally less effective when weight regain is involved, therefore the outcomes will be different. There is no expectation of weight loss. You might want to contemplate why this angers you.
