20 pounds in one week is a lot for the body to adjust to. Did you lose weight prior to surgery also? Your body takes time to figure this out. I was a slow loser. I tracked 100% of what I ate and was 100% honest with myself. I knew when I saw small fluctuations in my weight it wasn’t “weight gain” I was eating 500-700 calories a day . I stayed sane by reframing it. I’d tell myself, I weigh more today, I know I didn’t “gain weight”. It worked for me and it is true. Nobody gains weight eating that small amount. Salt, hydration, sleep, bathroom habits, stress and a lot of things factor into what the scale says any given day. I always joked that today must be a bad gravity day. It’s the overall trajectory that counts. I also didn’t write the slight fluctuations down because I’d get frustrated. I would wait until a morning when I felt like I lost weight and hop on then.

Why have a 5 pound cushion? Mine is 2-3 pounds. So far I’m not gaining, I did lose a few during the move, however, had zero problems gaining it back once things settled down. I’m not trying hard right now either. My magic number is 126. When I hit that I get serious for a few days, I feel best around 122-124 (which is where I am currently) so far my weight has been relatively consistent. I do worry though, I’m not as busy and my house is a lot smaller so I’m not getting as many steps in. I never factored that into one of the changes that would happen. I’m trying to think of things to do to keep active while avoiding COVID . The numbers are REALLY BAD in my area with a lot of non compliant people. If it’s nice out, the walking paths and parks are crazy busy. I need to suck it up and find a quieter place to walk and accept that I’ll have to wear a mask while walking instead of making excuses. I think my next hobby might be some kind of woodworking to keep busy since I can’t paint this house. We have a nice size garage and we did build a workbench. I need to have something to do or I know I’ll gain. On topic. I made the best and easiest shredded chicken tacos last night and forgot to take a picture! I have some leftovers. I’ll try and post later today. -

If I wanted to I could easily overeat and gain right now. I’m 2+ years out. I have to be vigilant and write everything down. I no longer eat when I’m stressed (I lose my appetite) or bored and I plan most of my meals in advance. I do allow myself some junk type foods now, but in very limited quantities and frequency. -

If you want it less sloppy here some ideas. (I’m the taco queen) Crisp up your tortilla on a baking sheet with a rack first. Add the cheese and beans after its crisper then melt. Have the sauce warmed up on the side and drizzle it over. Btw, check out hard taco shells in the store, most are 50 calories or less! -

Loose meat sandwiches are so strange to me! Always reminds me of this story. My practice husband got a promotion and transfer to Iowa a few months after our first kid was born. He started working before we actually moved of course. One night he called me trying to explain this weird hamburger he got at a drive through. He was trying to explain it to me and I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Finally he said, “It’s like you’re making spaghetti with meat sauce and you stop before you put sauce in it” For some reason that cracked me up and stuck with me 32 years later! I lived in Iowa for 5 years and never tried one. -
@Sophie7713 Amazing design! I’m always in awe of interior designers. You look great too.

I have a fear of fake whipped cream ever since I left a glob in a bowl overnight and it wouldn’t dissolve! -
Super random, bought it from a guy who made handmade rocking horses, (20 years ago, bought one for my son) so I figured he made it. Last year I noticed a signature on the underside, posted it on Facebook and found this out. “This is just a little info about the signature on your carriage. Hopefully it will help you. You definitely have an antique and it’s beautiful. Mr. Henry D. Smith, along with G. F. Smith, E. W. Twitchell, W. S. Ward, and E. P. Hotchkiss organized H. D. Smith & Co in 1850. The company originally made carriage hardware in a factory located at 24 West St. in Plantsville, on the Eight Mile River, which provided power for the plant.” ————— I found some really cool stuff when I lived in a small town. I discovered a new one a few week ago. @GreenTealael are you anywhere near East Aurora, NY? It’s close to Erie, anyway I found out I have some cool Roycroft pieces from that area. I have NO IDEA where I purchased them! Sorry, I turned this into FOTD! pssstt., I turned 60 years old today....

Thanks, I didn’t get taller darn it. It must be a good angle! The bench is actually an antique carriage seat. I’ve had it at the foot of my bed forever, the realtor moved it into the sitting room for staging. It’s a really cool piece, I bought it years ago. And no, I’m not painting it! I love that dress too @Arabesque !

A family member had surgery a year or so before I did. I wished her nothing but success and I was really happy for her. Deep down though it brought out insecurities I had about myself. The roles had been reversed, I was the thin one all of our lives. (I was new to being overweight) I didn’t let it effect our relationship and I was thrilled for her, she deserved it. I can see how it can effect relationships, especially if the other person is really insecure. it forces those around us to take a look at themselves. It’s a hard thing to do. It’s not a contest, everyone needs to do what is best for themselves. She was the one that encouraged me to ask my Doctor and I’m super thankful she did. -

No, I just don’t cook that way often enough. It’s big and takes up a lot of space. -

I just gave mine away! -
I’m hoping by the time we decide we will have a vaccine or at least get this under control in the US. My family is in the US and I can’t imagine not being able to see them, although it’s really hard not seeing my stepsons and granddaughter! I have visions of smuggling everyone over with us. Hide my son and I’ll refinish your sideboard, deal? 😎

The stress is real. Now we’re bickering over a roof and I just want this to be over! I hate cheese with a passion. I’ve been having a bigger snack in the evening and that has stopped further weight loss. I’m just not hungry during the day so I’m adding calories at night. Once this settles down I’ll be back to normal and I’ll have to be careful again.

Thanks, it was almost too quick.

My face looks sunken in. I look like I weigh less than 120, I’m a pretty dense human. (In more ways than one) My Doctor really doesn’t want me this low. I think it’s because I’m almost 60, (3 weeks) had cancer and COVID is lurking about. I don’t think I’ll have trouble gaining weight normally, but I have zero appetite right now.

We decided to sell our house since the housing market here is hot. We found a beautiful house to rent. My husband is considering retiring and we want the freedom to move when the time comes. Might even be living near you @ms.sss in a few years! Anyway, this process has been crazy stressful and I’m losing weight that I shouldn’t. I’m going to up my calories and resist the temptation to fill up with junk. However, today I am indulging in Culver’s. (Midwest burger chain) Anyone have advice or ideas on getting my weight back to stable without just eating carbs and fat? We move at the end of the month, our house didn’t even hit the market and we got full asking price in one day. We’ve had to do everything so fast and have 3 weeks to go, I’ve lost 4-5 pounds and don’t want to lose any more and need to gain a few!

This guy is a great follow on YouTube. He’s crazy strict on what he eats but the information and products he discusses are valuable and (I think) worth your time. I ignore him when I disagree with him, lol He also shows new products that hit stores. I’ve found a lot of new items since watching a handful of his videos. I posted this in the before after thread, it fits better here! flavcity FlavCity link -
Healthier, But Lonelier

I agree that change scares people. When they see you, they have to face their own flaws, fears and insecurities. It’s human nature, however, good friends will support you and toxic people will sabotage you. Use this time to cultivate new hobbies, interests, self worth and crummy tv. It’s tough with COVID, does your Dr have a support group? You have support here, don’t forget that. Keep your chin up, your goals in a tight grip and recognize toxic people, you don’t need them. Brene Brown always makes me feel more confident when I’m down. Her TED Talk on YouTube is amazing and so are her books and Netflix special. ”If we share our shame story with the wrong person, they can easily become one more piece of flying debris in an already dangerous storm.” ― Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection
