READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL
Cheeseburgh replied to IAmGrace's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 204 pounds the day of my surgery. I lost 20 something prior to my surgery as a part of the program I am in. I looked up my records: 8/13/18: 204 10/1/17: 188.6 16 pounds or so, I was eating 600ish calories a day, and yes it pissed me off. I dug deep and knew logically something had to give simply because it’s impossible NOT to lose weight with so few calories. I had a month when I lost 2 pounds! I lost weight very slowly, but I’ve lost 100 pounds *80 after surgery, and I’ve been keeping it off. It isn’t easy and it is frustrating but you can do this is you want it. I’ve posted my weight loss chart here before, I’ll dig it out and repost it. You are not alone and you’re not the only person who has this experience. It sucks, but it is what it is. You CAN do this and you can be frustrated. -

I would drop the protein shakes and replace with food that will make you feel full and stay full longer. I stopped using protein shakes on a daily basis by 4-5 months I believe and even then I only had one a day. It appears you are a vegetarian, I’m not but others here are or have been. @GreenTealael @summerset @FluffyChix might be able to help you with ideas to increase protein without relying on shakes. This link will take you to a thread where we share what we eat. Food thread As far a hunger goes I have hungry/ravenous days out of the blue. I just make sure I have good choices available so I don’t grab chips or cookie. The bags of small apples they sell now are a perfect size for me. I also keep a big box of black seedless grapes in the fridge. Congratulations on your weight loss so far, that is amazing! 6 pounds in one month 7 months post surgery isn’t unusual as far as I know. Your weight loss will slow down as you get closer to your goal weight. May I ask how close you are? -

We had surgery very close to each other! I’m finding projects to keep myself busy. Do you have a Fitbit or use any kind of device like that? I also track everything I eat in my fitness pal. I find both very useful and it helps keep me moving and accountable . I’ve gained 1-2 pounds this month so I’m keeping a close eye on that. I keep around 1300 calories a day, but I’ve let that tick up a bit and I found out I gain VERY easily, so I have to stay vigilant. Frozen bananas blended with almond milk is a great snack/dessert. I also always have a big box of seedless grapes in my fridge for when I get in a fidgety eating mood. -
@sillykitty That is super dressed up compared to me!

@MarvelGirl25 I’ve never heard of purple corn, nor have I ever seen it. The most exotic corn I’ve run across are blue corn chips! I would try that drink in a heartbeat but I think I have zero chance at finding purple corn. -

There is a real reason: People are not using “commercial” toilet paper because they aren’t going to work, restaurants, schools etc.. therefore not using the restrooms at those establishments. Increase in home bathroom use has skyrocketed and supply has not caught up to demand yet. ” “I can’t give you an exact number, but I will tell you we’re making more than ever,” said Arist Mastorides, president of family care for Kimberly-Clark North America, maker of Cottonelle toilet paper and other paper products. “It’s a significant amount to cover what we think will be used with people traveling less and staying home more.” That’s part of the problem right now – not just hoarding and not because people are going to the bathroom more than normal. It’s also because so many consumers are going to the bathroom in different locations from before the pandemic – at home instead of workplaces, which often use a different kind of toilet paper than used at home.” source: USA Today

An alternative to Hagen Daas or Ben & Jerry. I made this again tonight but made it thicker (less almond milk) so it had the consistency of ice cream. I blend this all in my ninja. I split this with my husband, it makes enough for 2 servings or 1 big serving! 1 large frozen ripe banana (peel and freeze ripe/super ripe bananas) 1/3 cup frozen cherries about 2 oz unsweetened almond milk 2 tsp Hershey syrup -

Fabulous dinner last night. 4 oz Smoked pork loin with half an ear of corn on the cob grilled pineapple and a tablespoon of bbq sauce. Frozen banana for dessert (not pictured) Leftovers will be carnitas tonight!. I think pork loin is the best lean protein for carnivores, Costco sells the best ones, but they are huge so we cut it down and freeze smaller roasts. -

Frozen bananas, frozen cherries, almond milk and 1 tsp of chocolate syrup. 175 calories and delicious. -
I miss having a monthly “challenge” of some sort. It helps drive a sense of community and keeps me more engaged. I was thinking of self care, creativity, fun picture challenges, etc.. Anyone have any ideas or interest?

I hope your problems get resolved soon, it can be a difficult adjustment. I don’t have anything to add but support.

Someone sent me a DM asking why I called 240 calories of wings a splurge. This is a fair question so I thought I’d clear it up. I maintain my weight on around 1300 calories a day so I tend to be creative and picky about what I choose to eat. 240 calories is not a lot, but it is a lot for 22 grams protein along with16 grams of fat. That is a splurge for me. I hope that helps clarify why I used that term. btw, they were so good I ended up having 5 lol -
