I seem to be tighter during the flight and for the remainder of that day. I would maybe bring a protein shake with you - try to avoid eating. This has just been my personal experience. I fly at least once a month 4 hours one way.... Other than that it is fine. My nurse also said many people experience their band to be tighter during a flight.. doesn't seem to be an explaination as to why though. Good luck and have a safe trip.

For me it took a month to figure out that the 'next bite' would be to much. It was almost as if I was testing myself. Can you do it? I learned that the stuck and PB'ing feeling is soooo not worth that extra bite. There is definetly a learning curve involved with restriction. Is it common that people have to 'figure it out'?

Anyone go into surgery under 200 lbs?
One4you2belike replied to Cleo's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well I wasn't quite at 200 around 205 or 208 day of surgery and I would do it again in a minute.... Just remember the band is a tool. Follow your diet, protein, after care instructions and you should be good to go. -
I had my 3rd fill and then had to fly to Dallas 3 days later. A 4 hour flight. My nurse said I may experience it being a bit tight due to the flight and I was but nothing more than a regular fill. it wasn't so bad. It is hard to understand the restriction the first few days... I would say just don't plan to eat on the flight unless it is something light. Maybe a protein drink.

I live in washington state and my doctor's office charges 125.00 - first post op fill is covered in the surgery fee. I was self pay...

I think the band used depends on the doctor. Seems the popular one now is the 10cc band. It has a zero fill at the time of surgery. Average time before the first fill is 4-6 wks post surgery and then every 4 wks after until you reach your restriction point. Seems each doctors fill is different. My first fill in the 10cc band was 6cc, then 4 wks later 2 then 4 wks later 1 - I go in this week for another.. Good luck!!!

What does your port feel like to touch
One4you2belike replied to slimmy120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is under my left rib cage right near my largest scar. I have been one of the VERY LUCKY banders that has had minimal port pain. The only time it really bothers me is in long car rides... I think it is the pressure from have my ribs just push on it.. crazy huh? -
magic bullet or blender ??
One4you2belike replied to mom2twins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used my magic bullet before surgery to mix the protein shakes well. I relied on it for the mushy stage and I use it all the time for other things.... The cool thing is - the entire family can use it, it comes with mugs that you can blend and then drink from, you can put a special lid on it and heat your soup after 'mushing' it - all right in the same container.... I love my magic bullet... (costco or walmart has the best price)..... -
Where something comfortable and loose. Slip on shoes, sweat pants that are not tight around the waste and an easy slip over the head shirt.... I 2nd the chapstick....

My Dream...What are your thoughts?
One4you2belike replied to eazes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe the 'burger' is what you are willing to give up to start your new life... The 'having a baby' maybe the birth of a new life... Good luck to you, I am sure you will do great.. Just follow doctors orders and look forward to the new you. -
Do You Feel Sick After A Fill
One4you2belike replied to jaylow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other than being on liquids (which include creamed soups) it isn't a big deal at all.... I had plans for the entire wknd after my fill and just had to order soup and keep things light... -
Feeling the band?
One4you2belike replied to cowgrrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are really concerned ask your doctor. I have been one of the lucky ones and rarely feel my port. I like you, sometimes after sitting in a chair at work for a long period of time I can feel it. My port is visible/swollen sometimes and I asked during my first fill if this was normal and I was told absolutely... It will diminish in time. You have to remember it will be sensitive, it is stiched to your abdominal muscles. It will feel better once the scar tissue has had enough time to attach. -
Liquid Protein 42gms per 3oz
One4you2belike replied to whaletail's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nutritionist at my docs office said that anything over 30 grams cannot be absorbed at one time... you may want to check.. no sense in wasting a few grams... -
Pre surgery diet...can I do it?
One4you2belike replied to Idgett's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a 10 day liquid diet which included 3 protein shakes a day which had to be under 6grams of carbs. I could have sugar free popcicles and oh boy, jello and broth of course. I am not going to say it wasn't hard but I knew there was an end... that is what kept me going. The hardest part for me was the weekend - the smell of food that others in the house got to enjoy so I really had to keep my mind focused on the end goal of a smooth surgery... good luck and hang in there. -

Question about my Band
One4you2belike replied to dicev's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it is the one I have which is APS it holds 10cc's. Nothing is input during surgery and then 6 wks later depending on your doctor they will input some (my first fill was 6cc's)... -
string hanging out of port incision
One4you2belike replied to webbgirl259's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had one by the port incision and belly button incision. I went in for my first fill yesterday and mentioned it - they just snipped it - I said could I have just left it and the nurse said yep, it would eventually just wear down... I wouldn't pull it incase it is stiched inside.. just get a pair of scissors or small nail nips and clip it.. don't clip your skin - ouch! -
Do as much research as you can.. the lapband is only a tool and requires a life long commitment... Getting started - well call for a consultation - again this site provides many great doctors/clinics. My insurance denied my request because I did not meet the qualifications. My insurance has also become more strict in their requirements.. they want a year long doctor monitored diet, 5 year weight fluctuation, 100 lbs over weight and a BMI of 40.. needless to say I was a selfpay - so depending on whether or not you are paying yourself will also determine your next step... I would suggest research, call for a consult, start the insurance process and go from there... You could always call your insurance first to see what they require...good luck

Diet after a fill
One4you2belike replied to Royalbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doc recommends liquids for 48 hours after a fill with 4 wks between fills.... you can have creamed soups as long as you blend them.... -

That bandage residue....
One4you2belike replied to Northwest_Nance's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used soap and the corner of a wash cloth. It came off after a little light scrubbing... Just don't scrub the incision.. ouch! -
Go to Doctor or NOT???
One4you2belike replied to suebaby's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My doctor recommends every 6 months and every 3-6 months to have blood work done to be sure you are not vitamin or protein difficient... a check up wouldn't hurt.... -
i am so excited nervous an anxious
One4you2belike replied to justme65's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on a low carb diet from Dec. 07 until 10 days prior to my surgery in which I was on a 10 day liquid diet with at least 3 protein shakes a day. It is all worth it... I did have 'one last meal' before I started my 10 day liquid diet on April 7th 08.. banded on April 16th....
