I was also diagnosed with RA as a toddler. Right now I’m going through one of the worse flare ups I can remember in years. I’m 50. I’m hoping surgery is really going to help with the pain. I have so many things I want to do that it’s stopping me from doing.

My program also said it wasn’t the caffeine but the coffee, no coffee of wither type for 1 month pre op to 6 months after.

That is one part I’m looking forward to is buy new shoes!

I am hoping my insurance approves for a June surgery. At first I didn’t want to tell anyone but my support team consisting of one of my best friends, my children and their spouses. But as I get closer I finally told people at work. We are a small office and my absence will affect them. I have only had 2 people be negative or “change” toward me. Those were my mother and my other best friend respectfully. I am not sure how I will handle the negativity when it comes. I’m 50 and single and the thought of dating scares me more. I'm really sorry that everyone has this happen to them in someway and am sure mine is coming. Thank you all for sharing and being such strong women. You are all an inspiration.

What is bio oil? I have been trying to use sha butter or coco butter twice a day. It’s supposed to help with elasticity. Trying to get a head start on it.

There are 1 oz protein shots that have 15-18g of protein maybe supplement with those and get your water in?

My best friend went to Mexico Bariarics Center and had an amazing experience. Says she wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. I thought about going there but cheaper for me to do it here with my insurance..

I’ve been trying the recommended program my team says I will eventually be on after surgery. 60g or more lean protein, 50g net carbs and like 60g of fat. I’m focusing on the protein and carbs. It’s really helped me see what has hidden sugars and carbs. I try to cut out sugar but have had my screw it moments but always try to go right back to the program. I’m hoping by doing this I will have a head start on pre op diet of liquid protein.

Just remember how much weight that is. Pick up a lb of butter and you are losing almost 3 of those a week!

What brand are the melts and sprays? There is so much to absorb.
