  1. There was no right shake for me. They all taste bad but the premixed Premier were least offensive. I froze a few to eat like ice cream. I preferred the fruity clear drinks bc they weren’t so thick and heavy.  I don’t drink any of them now. In fact I was off of them as soon as I went on solid food. My docs prefer if you can get your protein without the drinks and avoid drinking extra calories, and I was totally ok with that. I usually am able to get 60-80g of protein daily so I don’t use them at all but I was also lucky enough to heal rapidly.

    Eating Salad

I love salad and the texture isn’t an issue for me but it was the first and I believe only thing to come back up since surgery. I have a huge sensitivity to strong flavors and smells like garlic now. And oil. Anything oily makes me super nauseous so a little light French is my normal go to. Which is weird bc I’ve always been an Italian lover but not anymore.
  3. HW 337 SW (6/4/19) 329 CW 256 Lowest weight since having kids 10 years ago. So thankful for making this decision and that my journey has been mostly easy compared to some. I did eat Pasta for maybe the third time since surgery tonight. But that meant a couple bites. One breadstick instead of 3. Meatball first. I’m satisfied and husband and sons who are now eating my share couldn’t be more satisfied. 🤣
  4. Totally agree. Only thing I can’t eat are greasy foods and I’m thankful to not be able to enjoy them. I did accidentally eat yogurt with more sugar than I should have had and felt awful from that as well. bread? No biggie. Bites of cracker or chips, etc are the same. It’s a choice, but it’s easier for me to choose wisely now.
  5. You look fabulous:) congratulations on your success!!

    Freakish Restriction???

I don’t have much discomfort from egg but drier protein like grilled chicken or nuts make me feel uncomfortable very fast if I’m not careful. I’m in month 3 and starting to get better about knowing how much is enough but sometimes I still have to think about it.

    What to say to Dr?

I brought it up once and my PCP said “ sure... I’m ok with it” and then moved on to the pre surgery process/seminar.
  8. I am in month 3 post and had popcorn at the movies and a little birthday cake/cookie on my sons 4th birthday last week. Got to experience how “slider foods” are, because I was able to eat way more popcorn than I should have. Probably had a few cups during Toy Story 4. But I was consciously making that decision. Won’t make it a habit.
  9. I get it too. Im down 52 pounds and though a few people have said I look good no one has asked if I was losing weight. I think once I get my next 50 they will have to notice or I will punch someone in the face🤣

    Food Before and After Photos

One of the best things about my vsg is no guilt in not eating broccoli or asparagus stems anymore...I only make room for the best part now😆
  11. I relate to this 100 percent. I felt the same way. I’m almost 2 months out from VSG and I will tell you I already feel so much better. I have lots more to go but am down over 50 pounds from where I started and have so much more energy. I love that I can stay busy most of the day and not worry at all about what I’m going to eat next. My experience for the most part has been all positive and I’m excited for you to join us on this side😊

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

It will happen for you too. It’s amazing how quickly I’ve lost enough to feel better. Even if I haven’t had anyone say anything yet I have had several people tell me I look good. It’s partly bc I’m losing but I think even more because I feel so much better.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Been quiet in here! I had to look for the thread. My big news is today I was just sitting waiting on my son at his speech appointment when I realized my legs were crossed. Now I can’t tell you the last time it happened but I can tell you it’s been a matter of years. Haven’t weighed this week yet. Will probably wait until Friday. Don’t need the scale. It’s definitely working.

    ❤My Revision Story❤

    Glad You’re on the mend!
  15. I’m only in week 7 but today I noticed I crossed my legs for the first time in years. And it was surprisingly comfortable. Didn’t really think of that as something I wanted to do until today.

    Food Before and After Photos

Yea it is-my other recent obsession has been chicken kabobs with pepper/onion/tomato and big fat delicious shrooms. And a little coating of McCormick’s bourbon brown sugar or maple seasoning. Heavenly.

    Food Before and After Photos

Some fantastic sirloin from the grill. Fed the last bite to my husband so I could eat a couple Brussels sprouts. Impressed myself with my ability to eyeball 2 ounces.

    REGRET

All I can tell you is at a month out those first few days were incredibly hard but every day gets better. I also anticipated having emotional issues and asked to go back onto anti depressants that I had used in the past to assist me in adapting to such the huge changes in my body. Hope you’re able to get the help you feel you need but I’m confident as time goes on you will feel better about things.

    Pounds lost

I was down 30 pounds at my 1 month follow up last week.
  22. I woke up screaming after surgery. The nurse promptly gave me fentanyl. After a day with strong meds in the hospital and a few days worth at home I was way better. But I can relate to the initial pain. I’m in week 6 now and it’s way better. Hang in there!

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Good for you! I just got released for normal exercise and foods on 7/2. I plan to start tomorrow with weights. I had a lot of “treats” including a sirloin burger with A-1 from the grill this week with the holiday and cooking for family, but stayed under 40g carbs and over 50 protein every day. I think with the holiday over, being back in my routine next week will help. I probably gained a pound in water from salt and carbs, though. Doing well. Down 30 pounds since surgery. Drs say I’m doing great and on track/compliant so I celebrated a little. Now back to reality. 😆

    when you ate eggs..

It tasted amazing but I was super careful to take the tiniest bites and chew like crazy. I also have been lucky with a smooth recovery and likely less swelling than some experience.
