Feeling "weepy" & sad
med28thmed replied to Cameo325's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My love affair with food had to stop and I found that, the most depressing during my first 2 months post op. I loved having lunches with my co-workers, drinking and partying on the weekend with friends and hubby.... and then I had to completely change my lifestyle! I can't eat with people because I lose focus and end up throwing up. I stayed home on my weekends too.... BUT..... little by little, I started learning how my new stomach works. Slowly but surely, I started socializing again and eating at the same time without getting sick. Give it time. Be patient. You're gonna be great! See your doctor if it gets too bad. -
Yes, it's common. During my first month, I was only able to drink the Nestle bottled water. Also my stomach didn't hurt much if I put crystal light. On my fourth month now, I can drink any type of water now, even tap :-)

KETO? After surgery
med28thmed replied to njcardi97's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After my surgery, I stay away from carbs because I tend to get full very, very quickly. I can eat a huge bowl of chicken salad, lots of yogurt and fruits, but one or two bites of pasta, I'm done. I eat cheeseburgers w/out the bun, if I want to keep eating. I've been on diet all my life, I'm trying not to restrict myself again with anything. It's working for me. Once I crave something, it's gonna be in my head and ultimately drives me crazy. With the WLS, I can have a taste, satisfy my craving, but not overindulge. You'll find out. It's going to be exciting, and You'll be amazing! Good Luck. -
February 2019 weight loss buds
med28thmed replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations February Brothers and Sisters! May was a tough month for me, I encountered stall after stall... Stay strong, and thank you for all your kind and encouraging words... When I'm feeling annoyed, alone, lost, I know I go to this group and it makes me feel like I belong somewhere again. -
I can relate. I've lost a bit of weight. I work at the County jail in the counseling department. Women employees are allowed to wear skirts and dresses provided they're at knee length. I have a skirt that I've worn many times before, but last week when I wore it my boss said I can't wear it anymore. He said I'm supposed to only wear pants, no more dresses or skirts. I asked where it said in our dress code, he said it's not there but according to him for my protection and security I'm now only restricted to wear jeans/pants. For now, I'm not fighting it. I just have to buy more pants.

Dear Bookworm88, It is so normal. You'll be feeling it throughout your first month or two. Stay focused on why you did it. My surgery was only 3 months ago, but I feel so good! I have energy, I walk with my dog everyday about 2 miles... I am planning on a snorkeling trip with my husband soon. I'm going to go to a family reunion soon and I can't wait to show off the new me! The new more active me. The more confident, healthier me! Take your pain pills if it still hurts. Soon, you'll be able to eat regular food. The 2 week post op was the hardest for me, coz I was just ready to just eat already... But, you got this my friend, I promise. Sip. Sip. Sip. Walk. Walk. Walk. Take your time, one day at a time. You sooo got this! ps.....Buckle up, it's gonna be a wild, bumpy and UBER fun ride!

Good Luck! So excited for you! You got this!

Try again at 10 weeks? I can totally relate! I had Poke bowl on my 5th week and resulted pretty much same as yours. I can now eat salad. Actually, I now enjoy eating salad coz I can eat longer, and I don't get as full quicker than if I'd eat let's say, a sandwich.

When did your weight loss slow down?
med28thmed replied to 2Bsmaller18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi 2Bsmaller18! Sorry can't answer your question coz my surgery was a day after yours... I'm still losing weight but so far this month has been the slowest! But, I want to Congratulate you.... you're almost to your goal weight!!! Great job! -
What to do about the GAS!?

I fart away :-) -
What you're feeling is completely normal! I felt it before the surgery, on the day of surgery, a month after, 2 months after.....BUT....this is my 3rd month now, and guess what? I can tell you right now, I completely 100% DO NOT regret it!!! It will be a roller coaster ride my friend, but you'll look amazing, feel amazing, happier and healthier. A month after my surgery, my blood pressure is under control and my husband and I and our dog now can walk 2 miles a day! 1 month post op, I felt so depressed! I couldn't socialize during lunch breaks or attend gatherings because I had to relearn how to eat. If I break concentration, there's a huge chance that I can throw up (which I've done btw about 5 times now). Now, I have learned believe it or not, to eat slowly, and most of the time I stop when I feel full :-) Good Luck. Imagine how active you're going to be 3 months from now. Fear is normal, but hang on to the imagination of the healthier, happier, thinner, more active you!

Super normal. Hang in there. You got this!!!

I didn't go as far as lying. I've now lost 50 lbs and coworkers are starting to ask, and I tell them. I was going to announce on FB once I hit my 50 pound goal but decided I'm going to postpone it for when I reach 70 pounds :-) I can't deal with the negative comments or unwanted opinions at this time.. You just have to focus on yourself right now. You're on your way to becoming healthier, more active and happier you! Good Luck Sharlanay!

med28thmed replied to mrblond's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
went to a Poke bowl restaurant. Had Tuna, Salmon and the works. I think I want to celebrate my 3rd month Anniversary eating the same thing! :-) -

BUT......Congratulations girlfriend! You're now on your way to a healthier you! Walk, but take it slow. Sip your Water! Take your Vitamins. Put your seatbelt on, It's gonna be a crazy ride!

Is Weight Loss Surgery for Me?
med28thmed replied to gch81kb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello! The fact that you're questioning it, maybe you have to reassess the whole situation. Awesome job losing 30 pounds! And you only have 40 to go to make goal? You can postpone the surgery. You can try losing more weight and revisit surgery again, and see if you still feel the need to undergo the knife to lose weight. I didn't start questioning whether this was for me until after the fact. There were times on my first month, when the pain was intense, or when I would throw up at work I seriously asked myself what did I do. I'll have my 3rd month anniversary in a couple of days. Was it worth it for me? yes. I'm healthier now. I walk 2 miles a day. My blood pressure is under control. It's still a struggle and a huge adjustment. I don't go out partying much anymore lately with my friends because I can't drink alcohol yet and I miss that. I miss my friends. I miss socializing. I still don't eat out with friends coz I still have to concentrate on chewing and not overeating or I'll end up in the bathroom. Every circumstance is different. Hope I was able to give you another perspective here. Good Luck and keep us posted. Congratulations again on your weight loss w/out WLS!! -
lift yourself from sitting or lying down position using an arm chair or end of a table. You are still raw inside, it probably just got strained. Take it easy.
-
First off, Congratulations on your 50+ weight loss, way to go friend! I lost a pretty good amount of weight also during pre-op diet (14 lbs) but gained 10 back right after surgery, from the IV fluid. So yeah, I go by the pre-op weight minus my current weight = success and joy...😂 I understand how you feel about getting discouraged easily, I try to focus on the positive. I have so much more energy now, my blood pressure is controlled, I'm walking my dog every day...plus I like what I see in the mirror more and more every day 😅❤️ We got this!
-
Oh Yes! But this is your head talking, not your stomach. Arm yourself with ready to reach protein and snacks: Tuna, Yogurt, cottage cheese, Almonds, mozzarella cheese, popsicles, Beef jerkies.... I feel I get really hungry after dinner when we sit and start watching TV. I give in to my head hunger. Instead of eating another slice of pizza though, I'll have a banana instead. Exchanged Hershey's chocolate bar with Sugar free Russell Stover bit size chocolates. INstead of Ice cream, I'll have a sugar free pudding... I also try to eat between 800-1,200 calories daily. Good Luck. You got this!

I recommend drinking already before you get on the boat so you'll know what to expect. I had one michelob ultra light 2 weeks ago, and I was pretty drunk. Have fun and be safe.

Tomorrow is surgery day!!
med28thmed replied to CharlotteWebb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, my goodness....praying you recover quickly. How long did you end up staying at the hospital? Are you able to walk now? Take it easy. Yes, One day at a time. -
Yep, I was also allowed lean meat and vegetables for dinner. I was also sucking on Popsicles all day and sipping chicken broth. You're going to be great! Very happy and excited for you. Good Luck Shanda!
-
Congrats everyone! 2 Months and 3 weeks 48 pounds baby!!!! It's slowing down a bit now for me but I'm walking 20 minutes at lunch break and another 30 minutes with my dog at night. Whoooo hoooo!
-
Congrats and take it easy. When standing up from laying down position or sitting down position, use arm chair or furniture...end of table to push yourself up to minimize strain from your cuts.
