Update- my labs are all perfect. I haven't taken vitamins in a week. I did purchase some bariatric vitamins at my doctor's office, and took one today and didn't get nauseous. My cholesterol is elevated though!!! How in the heck!

I will look into those.

Good morning. I have been stalled for 2 weeks and before that I was stalled an additional 2 weeks- lost 3 lb then stalled again. I am discouraged and panicking. I am following Drs orders to a "T". Is there anything I should do? I am eating a traditional low fat, low carb diet and I STRUGGLE to get 600 Calories in daily. I do feel like clothes are fitting different through This period.

I started having GERD about 1 month out of surgical. I've been instructed to take zantac 2x a day and carafate 4x a day- which is horrible because of the time restriction. Can eat an hour after taking , or 2 hrs after eating. It restricts how much food you can take in. I was wondering has anyone started with Gerd and it get better eventually?

Are you taking it 2x a day??

My surgeon said that the pouch is trying to figure out how much acid it needs to produce. So it just takes some time. Some people, get better and some keep the reflux. I just wanted to see if anyone reflux has improved.

The biggest thing about carafate is that it coats the stomach tissues and facilitates healing. It also stops my heartburn.

It has been working and I've noticed that when I missed a dose of carafate it's not as miserble as before. I am so hopeful that I can eventually live w/out the carafate

What were the signs of this? I hope that you heal well and don't need to go through much more! I am so very sorry!!

I'm so sorry to hear this. I really hope you feel better soon. What kind of complications do you have?- if you're comfortable talking about them.

I was intensely itchy after surgery and I believe that it was from less water being taken in. Before surgery, I probably drank a gallon a day. After surgery u struggled to get in the 64oz my doc reccomends. My skin quickly became scaly. I am still dry (6weeks out) but using cocoa butter regularly has helped a lot in addition to being able to drink more water. I also do still have some Incision itchiness.

I haven't and I don't miss it. I quit for 6 months and relapsed just before getting a surgery dates!

I'm feeling almost normal. I miss eating though but I think as I am able to eat a little more that will wane, as well as just working through it. I am not depressed or overly emotional which is what I was expecting. It has been more pleasant than I anticipated.

Hello! Just started Carafate. Has anyone else used this medication? What was your expirence? Why were you prescribed it?

Have you had any updates on progress? I am on it because I called my surgeon and told him I was having heartburn. I am 3 weeks post op. He said it will coat my stomach. What is your routine for taking it?? There are so many rules for this med. Have you had any side effects?

Yeah I was afraid of that too. But I am okay! And it's been a week or so!

I am 10 days post op and healing well. I've had an overall positive experience. I am however really freaked out that I just drank about 10oz in 10 minutes. I wasn't paying attention and next thing I knew, it is was gone. I hope that I have restriction! I also hope I didn't harm myself. I have no discomfort whatsoever. Has anyone experienced this?

I'm 3 weeks PO and have been having so much gas and bloating. I am also STRUGGLING to get my protien in, I'm getting 30-50g of the 60 that's recommended. This worries me! I feel good. I have decent energy and very little pain from the largest incision. Did anyone else experience this kind of gas/ bloating?

Do you have any suggestions?? Besides genpro?

I have a small fortune invested into protien powders. I just can't seem to consume enough in a day. I am very restricted even with full liquids. I spoke with the surgeon and he said it will improve. He put me on carefenate (sp-sorry) it's an ulcer preventative and coats the stomach in case of inflammation. I am waiting for my insurance to approve the medicine, which is really annoying. Funny you mentioned probiotics, because I literally just started the Activia drinkable ones. I cannot even eat half a yogurt.
