I'm Back! A Reintroduction ~ Banded For Over 2 Years & At Goal!
meme49 replied to Lap Band Gal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello all, I have not been here is ages. I was banded six years ago come the end of this month. I have lost and gained - lost and gained, usually the same 10 pounds. I have just come from getting a long needed fill and will be back on the wagon of using my band as a tool to get to my goal. Just wanted to share. -
It has been almost 2 years and I am experiencing hair loss. Not just a little, I'm talking the kind where you want to pick it up and make a rug out of it. Has anyone else had this happen. I certainly get lots of protien. So I don't think that the problem.

I need some advise. I have not been able to hold down anything for 2 days. Very nauseated. I fear band slippage but I also think maybe this is a virus. This morning, I was able to get fluids down but still have nausea. Can this be a sign of a slipped band? Is the nausea one of the symptoms of a slipped band. I have PB'd alot lateley. Fells like the restriction has increased last few weeks causing the PBing. Is that normal to have restriction fluctuate. Then again - Maybe swelling is the cause for nausea. Any help or words of wisdom would be appreciated.

I recently was diagnossed with Arthritus and given a presciption of NSAIDS (high dose). I find these do not agree with me. Why do they work differently on banded patients. I don't understand why if the band is outside the stomach how this changes what goes in. ???? Anyone have answers to what may be a stupid question?

Helop I had my 4th fill about 4 1/2 weeks ago and the last 2 days hardly anything goes down. liquids do but very slowly. I am a 3cc in a 4 cc band. Why would this be??? Can't restriction increase this much after this much time has passed???

Thanks Sallyjo, It is a relief to know I'm not alone. Congrats on being so close to goal.

I had to give up Sushi. I found this out very recently and am very disappointed. I love the rolls. Spider roll, calif. roll, etc. I have tried but the seaweed wrap just won't chew small enough and the rice is very sticky.

I was banded by Dr. Ferrari 2/27/06. I found him to be a very good, kind and caring dr. I would highly recommend him. I go for my 1st fill this Friday, 4/7 and am looking forward to it alot. Donna

What wonderful information this thread has given me. I am scheduled for my 1st fill on 4/7 and can't wait. I have slowly worked my way up to eating alot again. Surgery was not that long ago. I'm not so sure this is normal.?? Maybe someone else has gone thru same? -

I am still having really bad pains in my back. Dr says liquid Tylenol and walk. I am doing all of this and still have bad bad pain. Pain is dull nagging sort of pain. Nothing sharp. No fever. I am almost 2 weeks post op. Is this normal gas pains?? Has anyone had this experience??

Deseretmom, I had a ct scan last Thursday. They said all looked good. I was seeing Dr. Naaman as my dr. has been out of the country. I called this morning and my dr. is back in town and I have an appt. at 2:45 PM today. Maybe I'll have some answers. I also have started getting pain in front.
-
Thanks Xann77 and DonnaB - I will ask about the stitches. I appreciate the info. My dr is out of the country til next week. I'm seeing dr. Naaman while he's out. If its just a stitch, I don't think that will show on CT scan, or will it? I don't know, just can't function with pain so bad. They should call with results, I'll keep you posted. Thanks for everyones input.

It dull not sharp. Breathing, moving, twisting, etc. doesn't change. Does not feel like its in the muscle. It's located in the middle of my back, right at bra strap area. It does feel somewhat better lying down. Especially if I take a dose of the lortab liquid. But can't live like that. I just got off the phone with dr and they want to do a cat scan. I'm really nervous something has gone wrong.

I had my gall bladder out at the same time I was banded, Monday 2/27/06. I had an extra duct attached from liver to gall bladder and had surgery to repair leaking on Friday, 3/3/06. I have never been sooooo sick. Just now able to sit upright for 6 hours at a time. I was orginally told this would be very easy surgery to have a same time banding. But I guess no one could for see the complications. And yes!!!! Thank heaven for Demeral!!!!!! I have several days of that and needed it.

:faint: I am two weeks post op today on band surgery and gall bladder removal. And 10 days post op on gall bladder 2nd surgery. I have been blown up twice in the past 2 weeks. I have gas pains that have gas pains. My abdomin feels and looks huge. I have a problem with the gall bladder removal. It seems there was a micro-scopic tiny 2nd duct from my livery to the gall bladder that was not detected by ultra-sound. So after severe pain and fever for several days, they found it thru cat scans. Anyway a patch job was done and lots of demerol later, I'm back to work and feeling very very tired and sore. I have alot of back pain. I was wondering if anyone experienced back pain after surgery. I know it can't be from gall bladder, I don't have one anymore. Maybe it's from the gas? Or maybe just from sitting upright again after being down for so long? I have dropped 19 pounds according to my scales at home. But I was to sick to eat for a week. The only thing was IV fluids. Just now going to mushies. Nothing but liquids til today. I'm sure wt loss will slow. When will this gas pain end????

Thanks Anne and Natural Beauty - I will try walking more. I have felt so bad, that I find it very hard to walk. I guess I just have to push a little more.

Has anyone heard of the band making reflux worse? I live on Previcid and I'm a little concerned. Dr. says it should improve, but I wanted a little feed back from others who suffer from severe gerd. Thanks, Donna

Went for my testing on Wednesday. Dr wanted echocardiagram and ultrasound of gallbladder. Pre-registered at hospital on Friday and stopped by dr. office for pre-op visit. Only to learn the ultrasound of galbladder showed problems. So now ... it's g.bladder out ... lapband in. I'm wondering if anyone else has expeirenced having gallbladder out at the same time of band surgery. Dr. said it will mean a couple of more inceisions on the right side. I'm a lot more nervous now. :cry

You can shrimp & lobster, but these are some of the foods that are more difficult for people. I'm already looking for recipes where I can blend these to a paste. lol.
