Thank you so very much for posting this!!! I went into surgery 4 months ago at 234 lbs. I've lost 35 lbs and have been beating myself up for not losing more. According to this chart I am exactly where I should be! Thanks again!

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?
CindeeAT replied to Pam Peltz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There is absolutely nothing wrong. Stalls are normal and discouraging! Hang in there! I'm 52 and had a RNY revision from a sleeve. My loss is definitely slower than when I had the sleeve. My doc says that age and being a revision definitely plays a part in seeing slower weight loss. It WILL come off if you follow your plan. I'm 52 years RNY revision on March 12 nearly 8 weeks out I stalled for a full 2.5 weeks starting on week 2! I cried daily after the first week! Doc said that it was because I was starving at only 300 calories per day and that the loss would start when I was able to add more foods. It did...my loss is slow and steady and I only weigh once per week. Surgery weight: 235 Current weight: 210 -

Hi! I'm 52 and had ROUNY in March. My starting weight on surgery day was 235. I'm 210 right now. My doc says that due to my age and that I'm a sleeve revision, I will most likely lose slower than average. Yay me...lOL. The surgery was perfect and I was back at work in 4 days. Mo complications so far. -
GenePro powdered, unflavored protein is wonderful for anyone who struggles with getting their protein requirement. I put it in my morning coffee and that gives me 30 grams right off the bat. The 30 gram scoop is much smaller than other whey proteins that I've used and it is 100% undetectable! I've put it in soups, casseroles, sugar free pudding...you name it!

I just wrapped up week 7 post OP yesterday and have only lost 23 lbs. 234 on surgery day and 211.2 today. I've been really adherent to my eating plan. My only struggle is drinking the 64 oz of water. I usually end up somewhere in the 40+oz range.

My doc says 20 to 25 NET carbs per day max.with our small stomachs and if were eating our protein first this is absolutely doable. I'm able to stay within range pretty easily following the plan

I'm in the same boat. 5 weeks out from bypass and only down 15 lbs. I've followed the plan. My stall started at week two and was so frustrating.

How long before you went back to work?
CindeeAT replied to artsie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had gastric bypass on a Wednesday and was back in the office on Monday. I was a little bit tired but other than that no issues. -
Amazing!! Great job!!!!!

Totally normal! If you are following your plan and it comes right back off it's just water. Women are prone to these fluctuations due to our cycle, hormones etc...

Congratulations!!

You're doing great! Congratulations! I'm at week 4 post OP and have only lost 13 lbs since the surgery.

I lost one more pound ..so in the past 2 weeks I've lost ONE pound. I cried at the doctors office, how embarrassing. My surgeon said that patients with revisions have a tendency to not lose as much as quickly as first time bariatric surgery patients. Our bodies are somewhat used to a lower calorie intake from the previous surgeries and it takes some time for our metabolism to kick back in. I hope that's the case.

Hi! I'm eating about 300 to 500 calories per day. My protein goal is a minimum of 65 grams. I'm on soft foods like cottage cheese, string cheese and yogurt. I use GenePro protein powder in my coffee in the AM OR I'll have a protein shake. No fruits or veggies until Wed. Starting week 4 I can have soft veggies and fruits. Doc wants me to drink 64 oz. Of water per day but I'm only able to get in the 40s most days. I have my one month follow up tomorrow. I'm anxious to hear what the doctor says about the stall. I need to break this thing...lol

Thank you! I needed to hear/read this! Fingers crossed! Thanks again!

Hownlong was your stall and hownlong after surgery did it start. I am sooo...discouraged right now due to my stall. I stalled in the 2 week after surgery and now I'm at 3.5 weeks and no movement on the scale at all.

When I was sleeved I experienced dumping by eating cream of mushroom soup. I was in a restaurant and it was terrible. I tried eating tomato soup the other day and experienced nausea..no more cream soups for me.

Hi everyone! I'm heading into week 2 and just had my stitches out. I see a lot of folks talk about a 'stall' in weight loss. How can we stall when we are eating 300 to 500 calories per day? I've searched the internet trying to find the scientific reason but I haven't found anything. I've always been told by docs that calories in VS calories out is what drives weight loss. At our calorie intake we should drop weight consistently. I just want to understand how we 'stall'.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience and pain! It is so strange how different each body reacts to the surgery! I am exactly ONE week out ...I can drink anything and have absolutely ZERO pain or discomfort in my pouch. A couple of my incision sites are sore but it doesn't impede my day to day activity. I came back to work on Monday. I'm 52 years old and was really worried about recovery but so far so good! Don't wait too long to go back to your surgeon if this continues! Big hug!

Terrific! Great job! My doc says that walking is very important to avoid blood clots! Today is my one week anniversary for bypass. I went back to work on Monday. I have a desk job so there's no strain on my abdomen.

AMAZING and congratulations!

I'm very happy to know that I'm not in this alone! Thank you for the validation!

I'm also at 10lbs post op. The scale said that I've lost 2 lbs since yesterday. Is that even possible? I'm trying to get my head around it all.
-
I'm sorry to hear about your pain. My surgeon told me that is usually the incision where the 'hard work' was done. I had the same issue when I was sleeved. How is you weight loss going?

Premier protein shakes/water

I love Genpro unflavored protein powder. You can literally put it in ANYTHING and you can't tell. I add it to flavored water, coffee, any flavor of broth, yogurt, cottage cheese I could go on and on. It really opens up your flavor options! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
