Hello everyone, my name is Jackie and I was banded in 2007. I am due to have my Lap Band removed on March 12th. Anyone out there had theirs removed? I have had Port Pain for many, many years. Also I have had unexplained infections with unknown orgins and I have always wondered if it could be coming from the Lap Band.... any thoughts???

Hello everyone I am happy to say that I got my band remove a week and a half ago. The recovery has been wonderfu.l I went into surgery at 830 in the morning they gave me the sedation I must have gone into the surgery I guess about a quarter of nine by 10 o'clock I was in the recovery room and fully awake he gave me something for pain and nausea I never threw up. By 1130 I was in my room. By 2 o'clock I wanted to go home but I hadn't urinating yet because my bladder was still asleep from the anesthesia. by 430 thank God I had urinated and I was on my way home with very little pain and a little sore. I had walked all the halls of the hospital with very little help from my husband and I felt great I was so happy. I took one tylenol with codeine at the hospital and that night I only took two extra strength tylenol at home. The next day I felt more soreness like if I had done 100 sit ups and some waist exercises, than pain. The next day I had the pain of the coughing from the anesthesia so I took 2 tylenol again and that was pretty much it. The day that I had the most pain was one day that I had a coughing attack and I didn't have the little pillow that I would put in my stomach when I cough because I was in the kitchen getting some water and that day I took one tylenol with codeine but it was because I was caught off guard. The surgery has been the best decision I've ever made in my life I could drink and chug water with no throwing up I am eating little meals few times during the day I have actually lost 2 pounds because I'm eating frequently and small portion with the lapband I could barely eat and my body was in starvation mode so again guys best decision I've ever made. Just remember small portions I was adapted to barely eating so my stomach is reduced I don't plan to ever get it large again because I've been through hell so good luck if anyone has any questions just ask away.

I REALLY WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR LOVE AND SUPPORT!!!!! You have all been so helpful. Just in case I just had a Special K waffle today with the Antibiotic my surgeon sent me and plan to spend the rest of the day on Gatorade. I guess better safe than sorry. Don't want much in my stomach tomorrow when Lap Band comes out. As soon as I can post I will let you guys know how it went. Thank you so much for all of your well wishes. Soon to be BandLESS, Jackie. XOXO

Hi Duckydoom, I have not had it removed yet. In 36 hours, can't wait. Had so much port pain last night that I barely slept. I will have no revision so I hope I come home same day or next morning. My surgeon didn't put me on any diet before or after surgery. I had heard some people go on liquids diets before and also after..... Any word??????

I really appreciate all your responses. I am just going to have the band removed and not get a revision. Researched the sleeve but same complications like vomiting, burping, gas, etc., as banding minus port pain and maybe infection. Have a head start with weight I lost 7 years ago and way I have been eating for many years, so been educated.

I am due to have my Lap band removed in about a week and I can't wait. The Port Pain I have been living with for 7 years will finally be over and the pressure in my chest as well. I have also been suffering from infections from unknown origins for 4 years and I've always wondered if it was the Lap Band. Soon it will gone. Any advise for Post Surgery?
