How Do I Know How Much Protein To Eat?
cpendlet replied to Dr. Duc Vuong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Vuong Would not eating enough protein inhibit your weight loss? I am not eating much at all, probably about 600 calories a day and the weight is not coming off. I am also exercising faithfully 3-4 times a week at the gym. I was wondering if not getting enough calories would limit the amount of weight loss. Banded 3/9/08 only have lost about 40 lbs. -
I had my surgery 3/9/08, and had only lost about 20 lbs. until my last two fills, I have a 10cc band and it is filled to 6cc's. I can defenitely see a difference now. Also, if you think you can have ice cream or something sweet that goes down instead of protein that can cause a problem, I was doing that for awhile. You need to make good choices for the small amount of food that you can eat, don't pick things that are high in sugar or fat. I currently have lost 37 lbs., but am also exercising. Doing cardio and weight training four times a week. Get another fill, that should make a difference.

I had my surgery on 3/9/08, and just had my second fill yesterday, I didn't have any restriction up to this point. But, I am feeling some restriction now, so I hope that the weight starts coming off. I know what you mean about bandster hell, I lost 14 lbs. between surgery and my first fill, but when I went back for my second fill I had gained 4 1/2 lbs. back! Very discouraged about that, but when you don't have a restriction it is very hard to eat the small amounts, I mean that is why we had the surgery in the first place, if I had self control I wouldn't be in this situation! Good luck everyone.

Just make sure that someone goes with you and stays the night, if my sister wouldn't have been there with me, I don't think that anyone would have done anything for me!

I am also in Illinois, and had my surgery on 3/9/08. So far not much success, but I just had my second fill today, so I am hoping for some restriction!

I was banded by Dr. Wagner in March, there was a 375.00 program fee, I know that some Dr.'s charge this, this is for the staff to work with your insurance company in case there are appeals. I like Dr. Wagner, but he is very shy and reserved. I have always been able to talk Dr.'s into doing what I wanted, but he is defenitely not like that, he goes strictly by the rules, as far as the amount of time between fills and how agressive he will be with the fills. If you are going to him, you will have the choice of an out patient surgery center and St. Alexius Hospital, I had mine at St. Alexius and it is an inner city hospital and I thought that it was in a dangerous neighborhood and not very clean!
