I was banded in 2006 and had not had a fill for 9 months. Knee injury, not much walking and starting gaining some of the 45#'s I had lost back. :tongue2:(I started at 247 and I usually try to stay around 200.) Not great success but enough to wear normal clothes and be able to exercise consistantly and be off BP meds! (So I am happy!) So I went in for a FILL, OMG I could not get anything down yesterday, just a little liquid, today I am able to sip water and fruit juice. I am working on some chicken soup right now. Hopefully no trip to the bathroom! YIKES, I don't think I have ever been this tight! (However, I am not much to want it very tight.... I like to try to live healthy and just use this as a tool.) I am going to give it 3 or 4 days to see if I can eat solids at that time. If not, call the Dr. I may get down below 200 for a change and just have to suffer for a bit!!! -
Anyone choose to stop getting fills - even before restriction?

I was banded in Nov of 06. I have only lost 42 pounds out of the 85 I needed to loose. Slow weight loss. YES. I have only had two fills up until 3 days ago. ( NOW I am tight again) I chose not to be so tight I could live life. Yes my weight loss has been slow but I feel its healthier. My weight loss had stopped and the holidays were here so it was time. This last time has been very tight! But I had just gotten spoiled being able to eat moderate amounts. I exercise regularly, walk 40 minutes every morning and cook healthful. SO... Thats my story and I consider this a GREAT SUCCESS! -
I just got I believe my 3rd fill. Banded Nov 2006. I am so tight! YIKES. Can't eat hardly anything with substance. I guess I am still learning the way of the band. I have been hesitatant to be too agressive. This fill has made that not possible so far. I have only averaged about 1# a week since my first fill.:guess I guess things will probably pick up if this doesn't loosen up a bit.

I am sure this is the reason for my slow weight loss. I have always been a morning eater... ODD but true. I eat breakfast around 6:00 2 eggs 1/2 pc whole grain toast if I can get it down. Then coffee 2/3 cups a morning, then by 9:00 I am hungry, VERY hungry. I sometimes have light yogurt, but most time a packet of oatmeal. Then by 10:30 I am ready for lunch.. I TRY to wait until 11:30 but somtimes have something else. Lunch is normal, light soup, lean cusine or something around 300-400 calories. Dinner is probably light compared to most. No snacking in the afternoon or evening, Just my mornings! Its like I am having 6 meals a day and 4 of them before noon. I have dropped from an 18 to 14 BUT only about 25 total pounds, I exercise like crazy! My GOAL this week EVEN just for tomorrow ONE MORNING SNACK!!!!

Cindyh, I was on MEGA antibotics for a failed root canal, the infection spread to my jaw bone. It did help the throat a bit but I still have this issue. I feel like a long time "smoker" sounds... I also had some BP meds that caused dry throat, but my meds have been switched and its better but still not normal! My band is not too tight, never has been, I have only had 3 fills in 5 months. I am pretty a slow loser that enjoys life and it happy to have my 1# a week, feel healthy ( at least everything except the throat) and keep my hair! ANYWAY I am conviced its band related... but its not a big enough deal at the moment to do anything about it.

I am thinking I am a part of this GROUP also. I started ON MY SCALES @ 251 then by surgery 242, which some how the DR SCALES were 239?? I am 5"6. I am now about 223. I was banded in Nov of 06. So according to my band DR I have only lost about 16#'s in 5 months. However I am very happy. I have lost from a 18/20 all the way down to SOME 14's :heh: ! I exercise 5-6 times a week, walk 3 days, eliptical 3 days for 30-40 minutes, weight training a 1/2 hour 3 days a week. I get comments often about my weight loss. BUT the funny thing is I have not lost that much weight... I am getting another fill tomorrow and was actually thinking UMM.. I am losing, I am getting smaller do I really want one? But to try and speed up the process because the lake is calling my name this summer I thought I would. I do snack too much on fairly healthy items but calories are calories! I am hoping this fill makes things go a bit faster! I have only had two fills so far, I am torn about my comfort level of enjoying life which I am able to do right now and trying to get this weight come off a bit faster. :paranoid

People really don't understand the principal behind a Lap band when they say things like that. Its your total life style. Not a breadstick, not a cheat ONCE IN AWHILE. I am not a fast looser per the BAND. But I am so much healthier. I have went from a 18/20 to some 14's in better clothes. I was banded in NOV of last year. I do still drink my red wine. I do still eat a pce of Whole grain toast @ breakfast, I ocassionally snack too much. I exercise 5 days a week and eat healthy. Its a lifestyle. I have my hair and I am now on NO MEDS! Life is so GOOD! Only 20#'s but 3 sizes! I am happy. Don't complicate this. Because the band is a tool not a miracle. If you have bread sticks ( WHOLE GRAIN BREAD sticks would be a much better choice) WALK 40 minutes not 30 the next day. Remember you have to live like this the rest of your life! -
To be honest, I have pain ocassional in different parts of my abdomen area. My port is one of them. Anytime you have something altered out of the norm I think your body works to adjust. I can eat, I can swallow and the pain is not unbearable. Differents areas that come and go. Not too worried. Love my band!

This is really weird, I have had a sore raspy throat also. However before my lap band I had BAD REFLUX.. but now it actually seems like I have none.At least I don't have the terrible burn in my chest!!! My DR changed my BP meds and it is better... but I really do live with a soare throat almost everyday! I also have a chronic dry cough but my BP meds were known to cause that?? So is it the meds or the band?? Not sure at this point.

:omg: I don't think the AFGHAN people would agree that the country of Afghanistan belongs to the TERROR group called the Taliban. It belongs to the Afghan people and we as well as other countries are trying to free them from the grips of this terriost group so that women once again can walk their streets without fear and punishment.

I was banded early Nov. was able to eat a little less than norm. 1st fill before Christmas.. was able to eat just a little less. Averaging about 1300-1400 calories a day. Losing very slowly but losing. (Exercising 4-5 times a week) Now last week had my 2nd fill BIG difference. Rarely eat more than 4-5 bits. Bread is out of the question. Chicken practically has to be shredded. I now finally understand the struggle to get enough protiend consumed. Before no problem... 2nd fill has been the answer for me.

My Doctor does my fills, its quick, easy and virtually painless? I have had two so far. 2nd one gave me good restriction. YEAH!!

Since people are having a hard time grasping they way the lord works as far healing and presenting his guidence in your life I thought this was appropiate per this discssion. Its not from scriptures but its my thoughts on how a prayful life might work. I asked God to take away my habit. God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up. I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary. I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned. I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you. I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No.You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful. I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things. I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me. God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea
