Need help with diet after post surgery weight gain!!!!!
Panda333 posted a topic in Food and Nutrition
Hi Friends. I’m here asking for help with a sample daily diet. I had GB In October of 2019. Highest weight 305. I got to 217 within a year and have slowly gained I’m sitting at 241 right now. I still have some restrictions but I think I’m just all over the place. I need a re-boot diet. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? I tried going back to my post surgery diet but having a hard time. I feel like I’m blowing in the wind, some days I’m vegan, some days I’m low carb. Ughhhhh Side Note: I still feel good and my labs are perfect now. -
sleeve in Mexico now $4200 or US $6000 but wait 6 months)
Panda333 posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
I've pretty much decided I want to have the gastric sleeve. Now that that's settled I'm ready. I was already approved by Weight Loss Team in Mexico and It's $4200 including hotel stay in puerto vallarta. and I can schedule as soon as possible. I also found out my insurance covers it if I want to do it in the USA and my maximum out of pocket will be $6000 for the mayo clinic in Jacksonville, FL. The US one is $1800 more and they will make me go through the 3 to 6 months nutritional and dr. supervised, etc. I'm impatient, I don't want to wait the 6 months. I Also think the drs. in Mexico will do a better job because they do more procedures. On the other hand, if there are complications or follow up it will be nice to have the surgeons'/drs here in US. What would you do? -

Hello, checking in. I had my surgery on 10/01/2019. As of today I’m down 73 points. I know it’s slower than most but I’m okay with that. Truth is I’ve allowed my self some carbs and sugar and I need to be better. Still feeling good and labs are good. Wishing everyone the best!! -

Sorry, been tardy in logging on. My weight loss is slow. I’m down 70 lbs as of yesterday. . But feeling good and happy for the loss!!!! -
Hi Folks, been scouring the posts and it seems like most sleevers get GERD, which is disconcerting but I know it's preferable to being overweight. Are you getting GERD because your surgeon made your sleeve too small? I'm specifically asking if you didn't have GERD before. Thinking I might just switch my surgery to the bypass to avoid this. I still don't know which procedure to get...ARGH

Denied after being approved and devastated
Panda333 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to get this off of my chest. I'm not super active posting but have read a lot. Here is my story. I have terrific Aetna insurance. I originally wanted to go to the mayo clinic for my surgery but I found out that AETNA needs a facility to be an institute of Quality (IOQ) So mayo clinic wouldn't take me on. Even though I called Aetna and have a letter saying it doesn't need to be an IOQ. Fast forward I found another surgeon, who is not an IOQ but a Center of excellence. They checked with Aetna and said I was covered and signed me up for their program in April. The past four months i've gone through all the steps, the psychologist, chest xrays , upper GI, Cardiac clearance and radiological stress trest, 3 nutrition appointments and weigh ins 60 miles away. 3 check ins with my PCP for weigh ins... oh and my back was thrown out in the middle of this. I completed all steps and the advocate states today I was denied because they are not in institute of quality but a center of excellence. What?? We checked on this. Then she starts to give me other hospital names. wait..no......WTF. I'm sort of mad at my surgeons office but also Aetna. They said it doesn't matter what they said in writing, they won't cover me because my doctor is not an IOQ. I'm devastated and frankly wish I would have gone to mexico to begin with. I've already spend more money out of pocket than the surgery would be in mexico. nonsense. needed to vent -

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD
Panda333 replied to Serengirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is how I feel @CapyCapybara.people who had surgery the same month as me and losing faster and I wonder what I'm doing wrong, taking vitamins before of after breakfast making a difference? the thoughts that go into my mind are sooo negative..... then I remember I'm a year from being a senior citizen and it's going to be slower and that's okay. I have pcos and years of being fat......scale is down every time I weigh so....how bad is that?!!! Love this board for support. -
THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD
Panda333 replied to Serengirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Can I join this club? I know this is for people who had the sleeve but I had the bypass on 10/01/2019 but am a slow loser and need y'alls support!! my stats are below..... -
Just have to vent. I had my surgery on Oct 1, 2019. I weight 285 then. Today I only weigh 255. everyone on the board seems to lose 10 lbs a week and it's been almost 3 months I've only lost 30. In total since starting this journey I've lost is 52 which I should be happy. I was doing okay then when I went to the follow up the nurse practitioner said I need to eat more food and to eat 1000 calories a day. I'ts been hard but I've been forcing myself too. maybe that's whey i'm lot losing as fast. The funny thing was I was following "their" program which was getting me to 400 calories a day with the protein, and liquid diets. This is my biggest fear. I had the surgery, messed up my insides and I'm just failing at this. I have my 3 month follow up on Monday and will see. I should have lost 90 by now.

That's a good point...thank you...not sure why I'm thinking this is a race...need to get out of that mentality. I stopped weighing every day which has helped my sanity. -

Panda333 replied to Panda333's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
saw this post was revived and realized I am the original poster - go figure! lol. I am a 49 year old female was 48 at surgery.... I also have pcos and am a slow loser. I started at 307 and was 285 on the day of my surgery on 10/01/2019. Today I was 251. I'm happy with the loss but I know I'm much slower than most. I'm actually becoming more okay with the slow loss thanks to the support of this board. 🙂I should also add that I have not done any exercise other than walking so hopefully once I do some exercise that will help. -
Do you think 49 is too old for plastic surgery?
Panda333 posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi everyone, I'm still preop and aged 48, I'm being optimistic that I will lose the weight and am interested in having an arm lift, breast lift, and anything else I need lifted, lol. I've seen people say why bother over age 40 you are too old no need at that ;point in your life. Yes, I will be 49 and pushing 50 and I'm not trying to be a sex symbol but I it's something I want. Am I being vain? I know my younger years are behind me. -

How often do others weigh themselves?
Panda333 replied to Binglebug1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was weighing every day and that was driving me crazy. Most people on this board lose 10 lbs a week. I just got my surgery and only lost 30 since surgery and 50 total. I feel behind everyone so I weigh only every week. I only lose 2 lbs a week but hey at least i'm losing.
