Has anyone noticed any taste bud changes? I had surgery on 3/13 and started soft foods this week. I had mashed potatoes and found that I no longer care for them. Same thing with refried beans. I had some today and it was nasty. It was such a let down because I’ve been craving both for a month now. I am currently sick with both pink eye and the crud but I don’t think that’s why I didn’t enjoy the food. I’m really bummed.

Yes! I have issues in that department anyway but this was a little worse. I tried taking OTC stuff and nothing worked. I had to take prescription Linzess to get relief.

I am feeling discouraged and I feel stupid for feeling this way. I am 9 days PO and I haven't lost any weight. I am the same weight as the day of surgery. I know I am being stupid and shouldn't be discouraged. I am still on the liquid diet. I am having a problem getting 64 ounces of water but I am drinking and I am not dehydrated. My 1st PO appt is Thursday and I am concerned my doctor is going to say that I should have at least lost something. I know I just had surgery and my body has been through a lot. I know all of this in my head but I still feel discouraged. Anyone else feeling this way?

I got to come home today. I am having trouble getting all the required water down. I just don't want to drink it. The gas pains are gone. The gas was no where near as bad as I expected. I am having weird sensation in my stomach. I wouldn't really describe it as painful but it's like a deep growl, if that makes any sense. I have not thrown up but I do get a little nauseated when I take the pain meds. I get to add protein shakes next week and I'm happy about that. Overall this experience has went a lot better than I expected and I am so glad for that.Tomorrow is day 3 so I am sure the soreness may be worse tomorrow. Good luck to everyone!

I had surgery this morning. It went great. The gas pain is the worst. My biggest problem is that I’m coughing up some blood. The nurses think it’s from the intubation. Maybe something was knicked in the back of my throat. I have some small clots and when I cough one up it gags me. Praying it heals quick.

I am on day 5 of the liquid pre-op diet and I've only lost 4 pounds. I am jealous of your 9 and 11 pound weight loss. The liquid diet hasn't done anything for my bowels. I just had to take something for that but I have lots of issues in that department anyway. I am not discouraged. Everyone is different. We will get through this. I am so proud of all of us for making it this far. We can do this!!!

I’m down for March 13th.

I am scheduled for March 13th and I am very nervous and still in shock. I saw my surgeon on Friday the 15th and was approved same day. Good luck to everyone!
