I had a fill done last Thursday. I think the Dr put in about 2cc..which would bring me up to 6cc in a 10cc band. The problem is when I swallow I feel pain like I am stuck. It will last from a few seconds to a minute or two and then it goes away. Any ideas? I have great restriction so I am hoping that I am not too tight!

I am a Work at Home Customer Service Rep for HSN.( love my job most of the time ). Full time student with Capella University. I hope to finish the drgree in Human Resource Management that I started years ago! Full time wife of 26 years and mother of 3 (21,13,11)

To be honest I don't either and I think that is the way it is with most banders from what I have read. I am able to eat most anything right now due to the unfill.I do have some restriction, but it isn't what I want or need so I have having to be careful on how much and what I eat. I haven't tried bread or pasta yet. I don't want to know if I can eat them because if I can then I know I will! lol I am hoping that I can get a little fill in a few weeks.

I couldn't freakin believe what the Blue team did!! OMG is this a bunch of idiots or what!! It is time for Dad to cut those apron strings!! I mean the kid is 18! "I don't want to leave my son here!" oh please! Is he gonna go to college with the kid and be his dorm buddy? Since they have a person who has had the by-pass done I am wondering if they would have someone on the show who has had the lapband? I know they are holding open call auditons in Nashville on Saturday...hmmmm I might just have to go and check it out!!

Chocolate-Snaps, I thought that is what my Dr going to do too, but he told me that since this had been going on for a week he thought that it was better to take out what he put in and give my throat and band a chance to heal. He also thinks that because I have a re-occuring sinus infection that may have been the cause of all of this.I am going to an ENT specialist for this next week and I am hoping that they can help with this. So I have to wait till I am better and the infection is gone before another fill. I saw that you are getting close to goal! That is awesome!!! Do you have any tips that you have found to be helpful that you can share?

I went today and the DR advised that I needed to have an unfill. It got to the point where what I was drinking was backing up in my throat. It would eventually go through the stoma but it took it a while to do that. So he removed 1 1/2-2ccs and said that should help. So I am right back to where I was before the fill at about 4cc.

Anyone torn between Gastric Bypass and LB
BeckyinTn replied to Jodi73's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I researched both and I will admit the lure of losing the weight quickly with the by-pass was strong, but in the long haul (studies have shown this) the band and bypass end up with the same results. I have know people who have had the bypass and yes they have lost the weight but the toll it took on their bodies was not worth it as far as I was concerned. I also took into account that if I needed to have the band removed for any reason I could. That was the deciding factor for me. -
Do you get sick of other people.......
BeckyinTn replied to lacasst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it is my DH. It is not my choices in food that I hear about from him, but that I need to take small bites and chew it up. I get tired of hearing it, but I do know he doesn't want me to get stuck. I did the other day and I had my first PB and it grossed and freaked him out. He worries more than I do about me getting stuck. -
Wow! Are you able to drink water? If you can't then you are way to tight. If it was me I would call my Dr tomorrow just to check to see if you need a slight unfill. I have heard that in with some fills it can take days or weeks to have restriction. I do know that with this last fill some days are worse than others. No one seems to have an explination for it either. While I am tight I am not that tight. I am able to drink a protein shake and I am able to eat (if I go slow and take small pea size bites). Most people are tighter in the AM for some reason. I usually drink coffee in the morning. The warmth seems to help loosen the band some.

Yep! Those are the rules! I can't say that I have been abiding by them. I really haven't had to till now! I am one of those people who takes big bites and eats fast. Not good for a bandster!!
-
My dr told me that since the stomach is constantly moving (churning) it will affect the tightness of the band. Which once I thought about it makes since. Since I just had my first "PB" I will be following the band rules. Before this fill I really didn't have to since I didn't have real good restriction. Now I do! Wow what a difference!

It happened to me yesterday. First one too! I was eating the egg portion from a breakfast scrambler from Krystal. I got stuck on the egg. I had just come from the eye Dr where I had my eyes dialated so I am sitting in my car in the Walmart parking lot (going shopping after I can see again.. lol) wearing those ugly glasses they give you trying to eat since I hadn't eaten that day and "BAM" I am stuck. I had to get out of the car and just stand there since there was no way I could just sit. I felt like a rabid dog the way I was sliming. It was just tiny burps until the big one and out came the slime and the egg. :puke:Freaked and grossed hubby out that's for sure! It was one of those moments that you have to laugh about after it is over! I am on my 2nd fill and have gone from 4cc to 6cc and I can sure tell it!!
-
I spoke to my Dr who told me that I am doing ok. He said that since I can drink with no problem that it is probably that I am taking large bites instead of pea size bites plus the fact I need to slow down. Well before I spoke to him I had my first PB today! Yuck!:puke:Oh boy did it hurt.I thought that I had been stuck before..oh no not compared to this. I got stuck on scrambled eggs of all things! Well for the next 24 hours I am on liquids! The only bright spot to this whole thing since the fill is that I have lost 8 lbs. That is a pound a day!
-
Stacy, I am able to get the liquids down and keep them down. For me it is just when I eat solids and I swallow it gets stuck. After a minute or two it goes through the band. I am going to call my Dr tomorrow and ask if I am too tight and if I need to come in for a slight unfill. I have lost 5lbs since Thursday. I am happy about that, but I don't want to mess anything up by being to tight. If you call your Dr let me know what they tell you! Becky

Thanks Becky! I look forward to hearing from you!

I was banded on 9-22-08. I had lost 35 lbs and now I have gained back about 2-3. I am supposed to go the Dr for the monthly check up ( I am ashamed to go since I have gained the 2-3 lbs). I had my first fill on 11-11-08. I can eat more than the 1/2 to 1 cup of food I can eat more like 1 1/2 to 2 cups. I have been able to eat that much for about 3 weeks now. Depending on what I have eaten I will get hungry in about 2 1/2-3 hours. I will admit that for the last few weeks I have not exercised. I am not lying when I say no time. The company I work for has had mandatory overtime I have been working about 50-55 hours for the last month and then I go to school full time (not making excuses it is just the way it has been). So here are my questions: 1. Do I need a fill? 2. Have I stretched out the stomach? Becky
-
Thanks for the replies! I only have a 30 minute lunch and by that time I am famished. Most of the time I have soup (tomato) for lunch and I do add cheese to it. When I get my breaks I am running to the bathroom. I will admit that when I finally at home I eat supper and then I will have a snack of one of the following of yogurt (greek mixed in with yoplait), 100 cal snack pack or oatmeal. Here latley if I eat meat it tends to get stuck (I know I am eating too fast in order becaused I so rushed for time) I have been drinking a lot of coffee just to keep me going. I am hoping that with in the next week the OT will be done for the year!!

I will go on it with you! I was on it after the holidays with BooBooKitty and friends. I will tell you I lost about 3 lbs from doing it! I hate to admit it but I have not been doing what I am supposed to and have gained about 4 pounds in the last month. I am so mad at myself! :bananalama: I am going to start today! Keep me posted on how you are doing!!! Becky -
Hey all! I was just wondering where was the weirdest place on your body where you noticed you had lost weight! For me it was the outside of my knees. I was sitting with my feet tucked up under me. I looked down and thought "OMG I don't have that bunch of fat there anymore!!" Sounds stupid but I was so excited!! Becky

Oh I am so mad right now! I went over the Obesity Help site an posted about the 5 day pouch diet. Some of the responses to the post was this diet is a bunch of "hooey". I recieved a personal message from one of them on that board whom most of the posters think is the "lapband"authority that this diet was a bunch of crap and I shouldn't post something that has no basis and will confuse the new bandsters! I was and still am excited about this diet and was wanting to share information that I thought someone might find useful. Needless to say I will NOT be going back to that site and posting anything anymore! I get more information here anyway and tons more support! Sorry I just had to vent! Becky -
How much did you lose 4 months out?
BeckyinTn replied to Yayforme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Sept. 22 and so far I have lost 30 lbs total. I am happy with it considering we just went through the holidays! I will be honest and say that I ate things that I knew I shouldn't if I wanted to lose more than the 2-3 pounds this month, but with that being said the reason I chose lap band over Gastric By-pass was because it still allows me to eat small portions of the "bad" without getting sick. I don't want to feel that I am depriving myself. I was on one of those types of diets and needless to say it did not work for me.I don't like diets that tell me that I can't have anything "bad" not even a taste of it because for me that just makes me want it more! Once I reach that point I will end up going off of the diet and eating a bunch of the "bad" stuff and gaining more. I am going to amp it up so that I can be under 200 when I turn 45 in May! That is a promise I have made to myself! Becky -
