    The dreaded gas

i was told just walk it out and it will help move it. it was the hardest part about the surgery. i think it gave more pain then the actual surgery.
  3. im not going to lie. the first week is hell. gas pains, stomach pains, can barely drink or get any food down. but walk and drink water, lots and lots of water. did i mention walk? walk. those are my tips for surviving. it was normal for me
  4. target had the protein2o, i think i paid 6$ for a 4 pack. its worth it if you dont want to get a third shake in.
  5. i can tell you protein water gives me bad gas, also might turn your stool different colors. protein20 mixed berry is pretty good. the grape one freaked me out with green stool.

    Upper GI

i had server gerd to the point i had barrett's esophagus, i had to take 4 pills daily and i still ended up throwing up bile every morning. i was told the sleeve would make it worse. once i was told that i said nope give me the bypass. im two weeks out and no more gerd. also my sleeep apnea is gone completely as well.
  7. yeah water, keep sipping. i was told the food source for the body is all that fat we have. i recommend having the water bottles that equal the amount the dr told you and make that your goal.
  8. i didnt do band to bypass, but i did get the bypass and im doing about 2 pounds a day
  9. im a little over a week after bypass surgery, when does the Diarrhea stop? I am not taking benefiber anymore. i drink 8 oz of my shake and its Diarrhea for the rest of the day. I am using lactose free milk and i tried almond milk with the shake.
  10. i had a place holder down before the surgery was approved. when the insurance denied it we just moved it back

    Sold Foods

I was looking in the store and a lot of the foods there has some sort of pasta in it. Granted they look amazing, but i thought that pasta was bad after surgery. can we have these pasta dishes? side note, the protein drink phase is brutal

    7 day post op

Hello, first time posting. My friend told me about this site. About how long until the microscopic incisions heal for the strips to come off? They are all dry and ones kind of...wet. Im also a little concerned about putting water directly on the cuts in the shower. should i be?
  15. for me i was told post op diet for 3 days was to be low sodium broth, sugar free jello, or sugar free popsicle. after that it was protein shakes for 11 days. also water and a lot of it.

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

let me tell you, i got the surgery on the 31st. i was going through all the same doubts and concerns as you. aetna denied me 5 times or so. switched insurances, cigna denied me once, i was pre-diabetic, Barrett's esophagus due to massive reflux to the point i was throwing up stomach bile every morning after working up, and sleep apnea caused me to not sleep well. i got them to give me the surgery, i was worried i would miss the food, i was worried that it would make the reflux worse, i was just generally worried that i would go through all this and my problems wouldnt get fixed. i was dead wrong. everything got fixed, sleep apnea is gone, reflux is gone, blood pressure is down, im shedding weight, i have more energy and everything after the first few days has been a constant improvement. my shakes were 75 bucks and have lasted me a month. my vitamins that are chewable gummies that taste like starbursts were 15 each. thats not bad. the worse part of the surgery, is the gas pains. they last 2 - 4 days and once it goes into your shoulders you will regret everything. then it goes away and everything is like a new day.

    2 days prep op

gas pain was the biggest struggle for me, pain killers didnt do anything for it. i just finished my first week. the pain is mostly gone, i can get down my shakes, my water, and walk without pain. the first week is hard, the cravings are still there. walk away during commercials if you are watching tv. it helps reduce the temptation. i never realized how many food commercials come on and how well they work, its like you can smell it and taste it.
  19. i had a hernia repair at the same time. trust me i know your pain, im now 8 days out. you got two more days of hell, probably one more day of gas pains. you will feel weak, not hungry, cant drink or eat anything. i was only able to get down 2 oz of low sodium broth three times a day. half a sugar free popsicle if i was lucky, and i had pain meds given to me so many times i lost count. i almost threw up the sugar free jello, so i havent even tried that again yet. the important thing is water and walking. walking will help move the gas out. if you have one of those stomach wraps the hospital may have give you, that is a life saver/ every now and then i get a little bit of stabbing pain at night, but i just take a hydrocodone and im able to sleep without pain. i wake up without reflux, my sleep apnea is gone and its some of the best sleep i have had in years.
  20. walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk. you got to walk. walking helps with weight loss and blood clots. also are they drinking water WITH the food? they shouldnt be drinking water 30 minutes before, during, or after eating. Theres something not right if they didnt lose any weight 11 days after surgery. dont sneak snacks, i have a feeling this might be an issue. i crave the living out of everything that shows up on tv. so i started walking during the commercials. Roughly the smaller stomach and the lack of eating anything has my diet to like 500 calories and a bunch of water, thats all i can get down.
  21. yup, i didnt pass gas for four days. i barely got down the protein shakes, and i barely finished a bottle of water. its important to just keep sipping water. slip all day like every 10 minutes.
  22. i took a big gulp of water, it was super painful. i learned not to take big gulps like i used to. water will take the least resistance so I doubt it will stay and stretch.
  23. walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk also get your water down. it helps. im 7 days out and walking helped me a ton. it goes away, its painful, it sucks, it hurt the most out of anything. every day gets a little better.

    Getting cold feet, normal?

i was always worried about regretting it and saying it wasnt for me, i can do other things all the way up until i was laying in that hospital bed with an IV in my arm. I got the surgery and i think its worth it. I feel its natural to be worried, its a huge life change. Im still on my shakes for post op, the pain is a fading, and so far i would do it over again just because i am no longer having massive reflux anymore. The weight loss is great, im not hungry all the time, reflux is completely gone, it is a good thing

    Struggling

i keep 3 23.7 oz waters around me and thats my goal for the day. sip sip sip sip. im still on the shakes but im up to two water bottles a day and the protein shakes finish me off to meet the required amount. just got to keep shipping. also i would consider a shot glass about 1 oz.
