Y-Connection issue with Rapid Weight Loss
Ellf replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well, good news is that the CAT Scan turned up nothing bad. Bad news is that I was prescribed two doses of milk of magnesia or Miralax tonight. -

Y-Connection issue with Rapid Weight Loss

Well, the pain hasn't gone away completely, so I do have a CT scan tomorrow for this. What sort of treatment is done for each of those options? -
Anyone have CT Scans few weeks after surgery to pinpoint issues?
Ellf replied to KarenLR75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to have a CT scan tomorrow, and it's about five months out now -
If you can do the bars, I recommend microwaving the chocolate bar for 30 seconds. It's almost like a brownie then. The soups... well, they're okay. Add in garlic powder to a couple of the soups to add a bit of seasoning.

So, Friday, I spent the day at Cedar Point here in NE Ohio with my wife. We got there at about 10 AM, and we ended up leaving at 10:30 PM. In that time, I managed to ride almost every roller coaster that they had in the park. Only one of them was I completely too big for. Sure, some of the safety bars and harnesses were a little on the tighter side, even for their larger riders areas, but six months ago, I wouldn't have been able to ride anything. I had a blast with my wife, and as of today, my BMI is now enough under 40 that it no longer rounds up to 40.

Oddly, I've lost about 150 lbs so far since last year, and I haven't had any loose skin issues. I still have 100 lbs. to lose, but this seems promising. I'm 32.

How many calories do you eat a day?
Ellf replied to april042019's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yeah. I'm at about 1000-1100 calories per day now. I can eat about 1 cup of food at a time, give or take a little, and I get 80+ grams of protein a day. I'm losing about 2-3 lbs a week right now, and I'm pretty happy. -
Yeah. I know. Everyone stalls. Everyone has this issue. That doesn't make it any less annoying or any less frustrating to see around the same number on the scale, to see the fluctuation up and down. I'm not sure I'm actually on a stall or if this is just fluctuation, but I weigh literally the same I did last Monday today. I was lower yesterday. Of course, last Monday was a minimum on the fluctuation, whereas today is slightly higher than yesterday. I'm just frustrated because I'm not eating a heck of a lot in general, though last week I was getting about 1000-1100 calories in a day (while hitting my protein goals of 75+g.)

I was told for RNY patients, one drink is about the equivalent of three.

Yeah, the program will typically tell you to avoid all alcohol until about a year out. I was never a heavy drinker anyway, so that's relatively easy for me. The worst bit for me, even now, is avoiding soda. I miss the way carbonated drinks felt. Of course, now I've tried a sip of soda... and it felt pretty bad.

How important is the no drinking before?
Ellf replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
See, I thought that was the reason for after, not before. During as well. Before there's no food in the stomach for the liquid to wash down. -
Top Thrill seemed like it was too long a wait for far too short a ride. 17 second ride for an hour and a half wait? No thank you. Sadly, Millennium Force was down for maintenance all day on Friday.

Riding roller coasters in general? Oh, yes. However, this was my first time to Cedar Point, ever.

Okay, I think you got your subject and body text reversed, but regarding your question, you tend to put on a little weight in the hospital due to what they pump into you for the surgery. Some people don't, but a lot do. It may take another day or two before the scale starts showing the real loss. Some people don't advise people to use a scale for a week.

I did have to. I didn't use it as much the first day, as they had me on oxygen, but when they took me off the oxygen, I used it to sleep.

do I qualify
Ellf replied to Debbie Bowen-Fletcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly? Most insurances wouldn't approve you at your current BMI. I recommend looking into your insurance's requirements and then searching for Bariatric centers that your insurance covers for more information. -
Is it possible to consume too much protein in a day, assuming you're getting plenty of fluids and still eat the appropriate portion sizes?

Found out what happens if you don't eat every few hours
Ellf posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So, not last Saturday, but the one before, I went to Cedar Point Shores, a water park here in Ohio. Before going into the park, I had a decent amount of protein for the day, but I stopped eating around noon. Around 3, I noticed that I was starting to get... not hungry, per se, but my body was starting to feel a bit weak and tired. Still, I was having fun, and I made sure to get my vitamins in. So, I didn't go grab anything from the food stands By the time we made it to the restaurant around six, I was a bit on the dizzy side. And then they gave me cold chili :|. My hands were shaking, and my body was weak. But when I ate my chili, everything started to feel better. -
I'm honestly just getting annoyed at the little roller coaster I go on. Down 4 lbs, up two, down four, up two... Overall, I'm down from last week., but I'm still up about 2 from Monday.

I think it was technically low blood sugar but specifically from not eating every couple hours. -
Where will you be 9 months from now?
Ellf replied to KT1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In nine months, I will be hopefully another 90 lbs. lighter. That will put me at just about under 200 lbs. and I'll be happier for it. -
Pretty much. I've been trying to force myself to slow down as well. I find that's the only way I can eat certain foods.
