    December 2018 Sleevers!

In the past 2 weeks I have noticed that all of a sudden i can eat more than 2 ounces of food. Last night I had a piece of chicken that was 3 ounces or a little more. I couldn't seem to eat anything more than 2 ounces for the first 5 and a half months. Anyone else have this? Las month i visited my surgeon and he asked if i was eating 3 ounces yet, I said not even close. He told me to work up to it, but it seems to have just happened. Having said that I have lost 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks after a week to ten day stall. I need new pants!

I can't tell you how cool that is to see. I flew in economy for the first time in 15 years last month (I used to have to buy business class seats everywhere i went) and had the same win! It's a great feeling when you don't have to ask for an extender!

That's 100% a NSV. I have been able to cross my legs without having to literally pull my leg up for 2 months now and it's nice. I'm also getting bony, I notice when I sit for long periods of time (work) my butt starts to really hurt now that it doesn't have the extra padding. Anyway, good job!
  13. Hey everyone hope you are all doing well and dropping those pounds. I was just curious how everyone was doing that got surgery in December of 2018. I would love to hear some updates and how everything is going. I had my surgery done by Dr. Marc Leduc. He works at the surgical weight control center in Las Vegas. I had my surgery done at Desert Springs Hospital. I had my surgery on Dec 10th 2018, so just under 4 months ago and I have lost 109 pounds so far. I'm loving the results!
  14. I was a train wreck for about 3 days and then i couldn't have more than a few sips of water the first few days i was home. It's normal and you will be fine. You will literally grow into it, and learn how to chew food and not drink water at the same time like everyone else. Get ready for some big changes and weight loss. The fun has just started! As for your blood clot question, it is normal. My best friend had it done before I did and he was puking clots of blood, which i never did after mine. He's fine, he went from 350 pounds to 174 pounds in 1 year. Hang in there.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

You are correct. I was one of those people that could lose 80 pounds over 6 months with diet and exercise but then i would gain the 80 back, plus 20! And that happened a few times over the years until I finally decided to get the surgery.

I'm well on my way to mine. And you are correct. The hard work does pay off! Congrats.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

It's been 4 months and 5 days. Starting weight was 377 pounds. Today I was 264 pounds. I eat 800 Cal or less a day and have been on a hardcore next to zero carb diet since 2 weeks before my surgery. The restriction is real, can't eat much more than 2.5 ounces. All is well. Hope you all are kicking butt!

    Soft Food Early

I'm going to be completely honest. 3 days after I was home from surgery i was eating eggs, ground beef, sausage, and chicken. Now i could only have 3 bites or so before i was full, i couldn't come close to eating an ounce of anything. You have lasted way longer than i have with pudding and what not. What the Dr. worries about is that food can get stuck in the new staples in your stomach and could cause problems. I was lucky that didn't happen and probably stupid for eating so quickly but i was supposed to be on a liquid diet after surgery. I wouldn't suggest doing what I did but i had zero problems.

    Overeating with Sleeve

As far as getting dizzy goes try to stay as hydrated as possible. I still get dizzy spells and i'm almost at 4 months post op but it doesn't bother me too much, i just pause and hang on to something for 5 seconds and go about my business. 2 weeks post surgery i couldn't even eat an ounce of food. I did a hardcore low carb diet since i've had surgery and my BP the last 4 times i've had it checked was 117/69 and they cut my BP meds in half. So if you had high BP that could also be why your getting dizzy, your body is adjusting. It's all part of the surgery, it will come and go. I would urge you not to try to over eat. 4 months out an appropriate meal size for me is 2 slices of swiss cheese and 2 slices pepperoni's from the deli. I'm not sure what that comes out too but it's not much and fills me up for hours.

    Dec 2018 surgery updates please

You all are doing really well, i'm glad to hear. I eat around 800 cal. a day and close to zero carbs and i'm pretty hardcore about it. I try to do 20 to 60 min on the treadmill a few times a week. I've hit 3 or 4 peaks where i stay the same weight for a week and then the weight just drops off again. Keep up the good work everyone!

    Post-op sleeve travel

I just flew from Las Vegas to Charlotte NC three days ago. I didn't eat for about 17 hours and went straight to the grocery store and got what i needed. I don't worry about lugging food along with me. Seems like too much work when there isn't anything to worry about in the long run. Just buy what you need when you get there.

    Heartburn 2 months post op?

I take Omeprazole once a day and it takes care of everything. In March I went on a 20 day overseas vacation and ran out of it. I was in pain for a week because the heart burn returned with a vengeance. As soon as i got my Omerprazole prescription filled it took about a day and a half and everything was gone and i was pain free. It was a nightmare without it. I won't be getting off it anytime soon. For me it's a life savor.

    Non Scale Victories

I am overseas at the moment on vacation and when passing though China you have to scan your passport and look into a camera. I was rejected 3 times by the machine. A worker had to come over and verify it was me because i have lost so much weight. They let me right though of course but it did affect my travel in the smallest of ways!

    Non Scale Victories

I had one this past week. I have been buying business class seats to travel for years because of my size and never wanting to be embarrassed or kicked off a flight. I've always had seat belt extensions as well. I took my first economy flight in years and fit in the seat and the seat belt actually fastened without an extension. Great feeling!

Pain on left side rib area

YES. I saw this post a while ago but i was at work and could not log in to reply to you. I have the same pain, it's right near where the rib cage is on my left side. I work in the medical field and asked my co-workers about this and they poked and prodded around the area. When they push down really hard and let go they asked if there was any bounce back pain and there isn't. It seems to be on the surface area for me. They all advised me it's most likely nerves growing back after the surgery. I have a scare from the surgery near where the pain is. Just remember surgery isn't always a delicate thing. They are not gentle when you are out cold and they are poking and prodding surgical tools inside our stomach region. I'd never tell you not to get it checked out but chances are you are fine and i'm not too worried at all about my left rib area pain anymore. It comes and goes. No biggie.
