Hi all, I am only on my second fill since being banded end April 2008 and I have a great deal of restriction. I am having real trouble with meat of any sort but can eat plenty of vegetables, soup and yoghurt. I am keen to perservere and not get a partial unfill but I need meat and want to be able to eat what I have preapared for everyone else. Should I stick with it and lose weight more rapidly or get half a ml taken out? I have been losing weight very slowly up until now. I love my lapband as if it was my dearest friend but don't want to be anti social or have to bring it all back up if I have pushed it too far. I would be kken to hear what others have done. Many thanks:blink:

I was banded end April 2008 and it has been slow but steady. My doctor said he has a lot of success with lower BMI people. I was not prepared to wait until I had a large BMI before I was banded and my doctor was happy to take me on. The best thing I could ever do for myself and there are no regrets. I love it when people tell me how good I look even though I am not even half way there yet.

Wagga Wagga is in coutry New South Wales Australia and until I moved here I had my doubts about its existance as well!!!! A large inland city we have a university and feed the rest of Australia with a good supply of beef, sheep, canola, wine, apples, oranges and most other food groups. A great place to live and visit.

This is an amazing achievment now that you have reached and exceeded your goals. My fill means that I am not hungry and am eating properly again. I still have some of the stress but will not reach for the icecream again in too much of a hurry. I love being banded in spite of sometimes being uncomfortable or not being able to eat a juicy steak but the new me will conquour the world I am sure!

Hi everyone, I have had a very stressful couple of weeks and those old eating habits are creeping back. Last night it was a whole container of Homer Hudsons Hoboken Crunch ice cream. That is not good and after being so good for the past 4 months I am disappointed in myself. Just goes to show that the mind is willful and powerful. Am hoping to be back on track soon. Anyone else returned to old habits and if so how did you fight them?

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have seen the surgeon today and just had another fill so am back on track. I have lost another kilo in spite of the ice cream binge (and no I didn't throw up so obviously needed the fill). :tt2:

Uplifting and Positive Thoughts ONLY . . .
crushbro replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banding was the smartest thing I have ever done for myself. I now feel like I have control, I smile in the mirror each day and I am proud that I cared enough about myself to go through with it. My victories are small weight wise but huge in the self esteem department. The best thing is that I will never see those extra pounds again....EVER. -
I am now 5 weeks post op and doing great. My secret has been eat with a teaspoon and chew anything that is not mush. Had my first fill and feel restriction but I needed that as I was getting hungry. I feel alive and energetic every day. I don't tell many people that I have had it done and so keep my good feelings to myself....but everyone notices a "new" me and I get lots of comments about how great I look. I think it all comes from within and I am in love with my band. I am fiercly protective of it and it is part of me now so I am moving forward in a very positive way. There are some down sides to it but never enough to cause any regrets. A new life awaits and it feels great. Good luck everyone on your own journeys.

Am in ezactly the same position. Banded 28 April and feeling great. Also only need to lose 30 kg. You have made the right decision. You will feel a freedom that has probably been out of reach to you for some time. Embrace the whole process. Worth every cent and every needle!

I also had my first fill today, 4 weeks after banding. Glad that I have had it as I have been really hungry and have not lost any weight in the last 2 weeks. The procedure was completely painless and the only problem I had was that I felt I was winded when I got up off the couch. Delighted with my lapband and love it to bits.

Hi, I am due to have my first fill next week so I was delighted to read your post....it has put my mind at rest. Go well and be proud. Carole

You have a good doctor looking after you. Optifast will get boring but I found that a straw and really cold water helps it go down a treat. Helps to keep you full and the weight just pours off so stick with it if you can. I had a couple of cheating episodes but mostly I was really focused. It helps the doctor so much better if your liver has shrunk and I am sure thats why my recovery was so good. Remember that you have to keep up your end of the bargain...the band is only a tool in the whole process. Keep up the good work.

Fluids going down well and can tolerate yoghurt and pureed apple. Am still hanging out for a poached egg. Off to dietician this afternoon so hope I get some good news. Still feeling a bit shaky on my pins when I go out and walking around the supermarket is a real effort however I am thinking about work so must mean I am ready to go back soon.

Hi, I had my surgery last week and the doctor found that I had a hiatus hernia. He just said he repaired it and all is fine. I have no way of telling if this has affected my recovery or not but will see the dietician tomorrow and hopefully can move to mushy food. Don't worry. These surgeons are very adept at what they do so I am sure you will be ok and get and extra op at the same time. No more reflux either!

Hi Ronni, I had my surgery last week and apart from some discomfort and a bit tired it has all gone well. It is not an instant cure and you still need to get your head around the fact that YOU are responsible for losing weight but it is a huge step in the right direction. Use the support networks offered by your medical team as this is vital. I love the thought that I can finally look like the person that I know I am inside and that this is all about ME...not the boss or the girlfriends or the other people who feel it necessary to comment on your apparent inability to have self control. You and I both know we would not choose to be overweight and now we can have a real say in where we are going. Good luck with surgery.

Banded 28 April 2008 in Wagga Wagga NSW. Top weight 97 kgs and 160cm tall so looked like a lollipop! Hi there, I am not sure where I belong on this forum other than I am keen to find out how others are doing...the highs, lows and hungry times! I was banded a week ago and am tolerating Optifast, yoghurt ,broth and jelly at this stage. Have a craving for a poached egg. I am quite uncomfortable but as I am not taking any painkillers I guess that would have something to do with it. I have lost 7 kgs with only another 30 to go. I was really good on the before op fasting and I am sure that helped me in the long run. I no longer care that I am overweight as I will never see those kilos again and that is very satisfying. What I want to know is how come there are so many cooking shows on satellite TV? Yesterday it was deep fried oysters!
