    GOAL!!!!

Tomorrow I will be 38 weeks out from surgery and I hit my goal!!! Woo hoo!! I’m so excited, I didn’t think I would reach this goal so quickly and I’m gonna savor the moment. Next up is a new additional goal of a healthy BMI on that archaic scale 😊.

It’s half of an 8” waffle. All he used was mozzarella cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Now that I know I like it we will experiment with more veggies that are on the drier side and spices! 😃 Oh the vanilla, and chocolate peanut butter ones sound wonderful!!

I’m not sure how they would reheat. I make little “egg bakes” that I make in the oven on the weekend and heat in the microwave for a minute during the week for breakfast. If you’re interested in doing that I just cook meat and sauté in some veggies then add that mixture to a muffin tin, top with some kinda shredded cheese and then pour in a mixture of egg and plain Greek yogurt with spices. Bake at 350 for 25-30 min.

Thanks! The one on the left is chicken apple sausage, Brussels sprouts, and sweet potato (1 lb of each) tossed with lemon olive oil salt and pepper. The one on the right is ground chicken sausage with carrots, bell pepper, jalapeño, garlic, and onion with salt and pepper sautéed and then added to the ramekin. I then top that mixture with shredded mozzarella and add a scrambled egg mixture of egg, plain non fat Greek yogurt, pepper, green onion, paprika, and ground mustard and bake. I make the egg bakes every week for breakfast so I switch up what meat or veggies I use each week for some variety.

So what are you unable to eat now?

I find sheet pan meals or crockpot soups the easiest to make for weeknights.

    Ladies

Mine started the day after surgery and it was on and off for what felt like forever. My GYN said it was coming from the dumping of estrogen stored in my fat cells and that it should start to taper out soon. I’m 7 months out and didn’t have a period prior due to my IUD. It Is getting better but the first couple of months were pretty awful with how random and long it was.
  15. I wasn’t given any of that either, I was told to get my protein and water in and keep sugar to none/low. But looking back on all of my suggested diets and what to avoid during each stage the only item higher in carbs on the list was mashed potatoes...

    VSG and menstrual cycle

I have an IUD so prior to surgery I didn’t have a period. Two days after I had surgery I got one and it lasted for two weeks. After that it’s been pretty sporadic on when it will come and how often it will last. My GYN said that the medicine is stored in your fat cells so as they shrink it will leave your body so that the only medicine in my body is coming straight from the IUD. Add in the change of hormones an she said it will take my body a little while to settle back to what it was prior. I didn’t really notice the period cramps when it happened right after surgery but mine normally weren’t to bad before.

I had the same question about cereal! 😃

    Oh wow!

I just had the revelation today that if I meet my goal I’ll have lost more than I weigh. This revelation has really blown my mind! 🤯
  20. My team gave me some guidelines on how much food your pouch can handle at various stages of post op ie. 1/4 cup up to three months. Is it the same for protein shakes?
  21. Starflower

    Spicy Food,

My team said spices were fine at 2 weeks but spicy had to wait until 3 months. I tried a little spicy right before three months and did fine but my tolerance has gone down so I’m still working my way back up!
  22. Yup it’s in the Sequoia National Park 😃

When can I have some rice? Lol

Oh ya I understand what you are saying. My plan allows potatoes in the soft food diet and doesn’t say anything about counting carbs. They do say to avoid breads, rice and pasta for up to six months because it can form a expanding gummy ball in your pouch and then there isn’t room for protein because the pouch is so small and you will want to eat again sooner because that doesn’t keep you satisfied for long. Because they tell me the why of it I understand and avoid it but I don’t think there are restrictions after 6 months. That’s up to the pt.

When can I have some rice? Lol

I think that there is a difference in the restrictive diet post surgery then a diet mainly because of the WHY something is restricted. On a diet it’s a self imposed restriction because you want to lose weight. With the surgery it can can physically hurt you (getting stuck, or uncomfortable digestion). I understand that this probably isn’t the case for forever but personally not having certain things has made me come up with healthier alternatives that make me not want the item I’m substituting for.

When can I have some rice? Lol

My team says to avoid for 6 months as well. I’ve found that quinoa and cauliflower rice are good substitutes 😃
