  1. I was in a horrible amount of pain after surgery. I had so many people tell me that c sections are worse but my sleeve was worse than either of my two c sections. I could barely drink after surgery (later found out it was reflux) My doctor operated on another lady the same day who I had been in the pre op nursing class with. I knew from the class she had bypass. She was in the room next to be and I heard the nurses offering her broth and popsicles and congratulating her for getting her water down so she obviously did better than I did. I was off pain meds 4 days post op so obviously it was short lived pain.

    Puréed stage need ideas!

I put a teaspoon of salsa with an egg. I also scrambled an egg with a little refried beans. Ricotta with canned or shredded chicken or tuna. If you have an instant pot there are recipes for lentil taco filling which is just mashed lentils, seasoning and broth.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

I haven't been weighing daily although it is hard not to. I lost 1 pound over the course of a week. I lost 2 pounds over the course of the prior week. I don't expect to lose weight daily but over the course of 7 days I expected to lose more than 1 pound especially after the prior week of only 2. I know it's normal to stall but I think a lot of it is mental. I failed so many times before to lose weight.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

I have not cheated and I can't eat larger portions. I am eating at set times. No grazing. I can't even eat the amounts yet that my nutritionist wants me to eat. I do weight and measure all my food. I'm supposed to be up to 500 calories this week and I still cannot eat more than 350 no matter how much I try. I make sure to get my water in. I still have to do a protein water or half a shake to get my protein in. Hopefully next week I'll see a change.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

I am really getting fed up with my lack of weight loss. I get it's normal at 3 weeks out but I lost 13 pounds in 10 days then 2 pounds in the next week and 1 pound over the last week. I haven't lost any inches for over a week now. I feel the same guilt and shame I've always felt dieting when people would tell me that spinach and bell pepper was causing me to stall because they have a sweet taste or I must be eating more than I think or sleep eating. People always insist that's it's just a simple matter of calories and that heavy people could just be thin if we eat less. Except the last few weeks have shown me that is such a bunch of bs. I really hope I start having some steady weight loss soon.

I'm not supposed to lift my 2 year old until a month out. She weighs 30 pounds. She is almost 3 so is able to follow some instructions like laying down on a towel to be changed since she is being difficult about toilet training.

I have a desk job he had said 2-3 weeks but at my follow up his staff said I needed a 4th week to get used to eating. I'm bored at home but I will be back at work Monday Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Anyone in the Tacoma WA area?

I am all right. 3 weeks out and down 16 since surgery but I have only lost 1 pound and no inches in the last week. Everything seems to be healing well but the clinic doesn't want me to return to work until 7/1 Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Had my 2 week follow up. They are recommending I take a 4th week of short term disability for work because I still get dizzy and tired and they want me used to eating purees. I have mixed feelings about it. I miss work but I probably do need a little more time

I'm not losing but I think it's because I hit the 3 week stall

  21. I started working on cutting things out as soon as I started the pre op process at the end of January.

Yes. I am 2 weeks post op. Before surgery I loved sugar free water flavorings. Now I hate all of them. I'm getting my water in with decaf herbal teas with a tiny bit of sweetener by putting the tea bag with a couple ice cubes in my water bottle to make ice tea. I was never a big herbal tea drinker before. Now I can't get enough.

    regret not doing this sooner

I totally understand wishing you'd had the surgery early. I've always been a painfully slow loser due to PCOS and it's so frustrating to see people losing 25+ pounds the first 2 weeks while I lost 15 and am hitting the 3 week stall early. If one more person says something about "well people with a higher starting weight lose more" to me I will scream. I was 282 on the day of surgery. That's a pretty damn high weight. I had someone tell me my weight loss on the pre op diet was "slower than keto" and I laughed because I've never had rapid weight loss on keto and my pre op weight loss was exactly the same to the amount I lost on keto in the same time. I wish I'd had surgery at a lower weight so my goal didn't seem so far away.
  24. I had zero comorbidities. But my BMI was over 50 and I'd been yoyo dieting for 20 years. I was starting to have knee pain and had a family history of sleep apnea. type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. My mom had VSG after years of dealing with comorbidities so I knew my health was heading in the same direction

I'm now 2 weeks post op and just hit 15 pounds down today. Jealous of people I see losing huge amounts right after surgery. I've seen people losing 20-30 pounds in the first 2 weeks. Officially on purees now but can't eat much. About half a scrambled egg or 1/8 cup cottage cheese or 1/4 C cream of chicken. Restriction is definitely real.
