    wondering if this is typical?

I have now had my third fill and I know all about foam . . . I seem to have the most problems when I eat something and then follow it with liquid. It was so bad one day (sorry, this is gross ) that I had to stand over the toilet and just keep burping and spitting out this clear liquid slime. I guess this is the early digestive juices working their magic! In any event, I found that the tightness has loosened up overall. I am now able to eat an egg and cheese Breakfast sandwich (only half the bread) as long as I take really small bites and chew well. The biggest lesson I have learned is not to drink when I eat. This is when I get that feeling of having something stuck in my chest as well as the dreaded slime . . . Good luck.

    Gettin' Looks?

Sorry, rookie here. What is NSV?
  3. I am also having that discomfort right in the middle of the chest below the bra line. I asked the support person at my clinic what it was and she said it was most likely gas trapped around the area of the band. I was worried that this was what the Band felt like and that I'd have to live with it from now on. Luckily, she said that it would "pass"

    Keeping it a secret?

I didn't want pressure or criticism, so I've only told my very best friend. Everyone else thinks I had hernia surgery. As far as I'm concerned, no one needs to know.
  5. I don't think anyone should feel embarassed about getting the band. Having said that, the only person that knows I've had this surgery is my best friend. I can't fully explain why I didn't want my family to know, but I think it was that I didn't want any expectations from them. I also know that, in the end, its up to me to use the band to help me lose weight. I'm the one going to have to make the right food choices, control my portions and exercise. The band will help me keep myself in check, but in the end its all on me.

    banded may 1st

I was also banded on May 1st and had two bad days with pain in my chest and shoulders. Today is better, although it still feels like a golf ball is trying to pass through my chest everytime I have to burp! The one thing I noticed in some of the messages is that some of you are eating at this stage. I was instructed to only have Water the day of surgery, Clear liquids for 4 days, full liquids for 7 days and then pureed foods for 7 days. I wonder if taking on texture at an early stage is increasing the amount of pain that is felt. Maybe try cutting sticking to clear liquids a bit longer will help the stomach heal. Good luck
