  1. It’s all about the sipping at 12 days. It’s important that your stomach heals correctly. I wouldn’t push it and I know you just want to drink normal but be patient with the process.  I’m still learning and I’m 4weeks post op. I’m unsure when I would figure it out but I know how much I can eat in one sitting so just give myself the 4oz limit and no more because I don’t want to overdo it. At 12 days for me I was still on full liquids no purées with the exception of jello and pudding. I too was only able to take an ounce of water every 15 minutes in sips and in my second week it was every 10 minutes of sipping. It will get better! For me now if I drink too fast I get hiccups and that’s how I know I’m taking water in too fast.  Listen to your body.
  2. I use my Apple Watch, and Baritastic app to log my weight, intake, water intake. The app also has recipes you can try that are meant for Bariatric patients, the weight log portion also has milestones for you to achieve which motivates me more. You can use a reminder feature that I use to remind me to take my vitamins. You can put a checklist you need to do, and you can do more as well!
  3. You are so right! I have only lost 20lbs and gained 1 but I keep reminding me how much fat that is :)
  4. It’s hard to slow downs I literally have to take a small bite and put the utensils down or if it’s a finger food I also put down and focus on my chewing and even when I’m done with that bite i wait a few seconds. Sorry that happened to you! I’ve ate fast and o just feel like I’m choking so I force myself to burp and it’s not fun

If any of you want to check out my poshmark closet here’s my username: bianca_saucedo
  6. I have shared a few early on but to add to that list is to walk more
  7. Thank you!! That ricotta bake sounds sounds yummy
  8. Really?!? I had a rash on my sides of my hips up to my bra line and and a few little spots on my stomach. I have a red ring that grew about 2 inches around and is warm only around 1 incision tho (the one they took my stomach out of). It didn’t hurt/ doesn’t hurt. I was told at my two week that the ring around my incision is most likely a reaction and my rash is from the wipes they used to prep me. My rash is gone but the ring is probably about an half inch around still. Was told to remove the glue from the one but I’m afraid that it will pull my stitching. But probably should.
  9. Help What are you eating on soft foods? I’m getting tired of - tuna with a little mayo and a little cheese to up my protein - eggs - cottage cheese - thinly sliced deli meat turkey breast rolled with a reduced fat string cheese - Atkins French vanilla protein shakes
  10. Awesome glad to hear all is going better for you! How did you know you are allergic to the glue?
  11. Awesome, what do you use for fiber supplements in your water? I agree, I was given protein bars from a co worker who had rny almost 3 years ago and was four Curious. My mom (and me) doesn’t want me to have them also for that reason of bringing back bad habits
  12. How is it going for you? Have you had any problems at almost 3 weeks post op? How much is your intake and what stage are you on? Have any of you tried Protein Bars or Protein chips/crackers?  It’s going ok for me, since i been advanced to soft/solids foods I haven’t felt or seen a difference. I can only eat up to 4oz. Not sure if I’m having too much or what. It also depends on what I’m having it’s 2-4 Oz. Do you weigh or measure with measuring cups? I was just curious on how i was doing so I stepped on the scale and I gained 1.6lbs, hoping I’m just retaining Water. I also have been having trouble with bowel movements since on stage 3. I know stay off the scale, I’m trying to only go on on Mondays. I know right now is all about getting all your Water, Protein and Vitamins in.
  13. I heard from my surgeon that the stomach heals 4-6 weeks. I get that feeling when I’m moving laying down and I was told it will go away once stomach is fully healed. One of my incision stitch/scab fell out and left a small hole where it’s healing so it closed but i was also told to try not to do any bending or rotating still to make sure non of them open up or scabs don’t fall off sooner than it needs

    Tastebuds And Smell

Yes I can’t stand the smell of warming up tortillas (family eating them, not me), raw onion. I use to love jello or “jels” cups and now I can’t stand them and I have a few still from pre op.

    LADIES ONLY PLEASE!

Im too shy to talk to anyone about this. I have not had my period for over a year now and today I was surprised it came back. I heard that having Bariatric surgery sometimes helps women get it. Does anyone know why? This may be TMI and if so sorry!! Today was just horrible day, I didn’t drink not even half of the water I’m suppose to and i know it’s a must. So I didn’t have to use the restroom till tonight (that’s how little I drank today, I know that’s bad). Who knows when I started because not even an hour ago (it’s 8:44 as I’m typing this) I had to use the restroom and that’s when I noticed. Thank Goodness I didn’t leak through my jeans at work. Because I haven’t had it in so long I couldn’t pin point why 1. I was craving sweets (had a SF popsicle to help with that since I’m a little over 2 weeks post op from VSG) 2. I was moody/emotional and lazy 3. Just uncomfortable
  16. Bummed, it’s a busy day for me so I instacarted a few groceries and one of my items were SF popsicle and they brought me regular :(

    VSG surgery scheduled for Monday

Aweome!! Oh no, maybe ask your team what you can do to help. I struggle with that but on solids/semi solids, started 3 days ago and I’ve only gone once. I’m doing fine I feel great and can’t wait to see the progress of me losing :)
  18. Hey it’s better than nothing! Keep pushing! I find on my walk home from work (not even a mile) I get down 16oz. Today is the first day I’ve gotten 40oz not including soups or protein shakes, just water and Gatorade zero. Other days were only 28oz without protein shakes. I know I’m 2 weeks post op and I get that stick when moving from laying on my stomach to my back.
  19. Hello so I’m on day 2 on my stage 3 solids/soft foods stage. I was only given a protein goal of 50-60 grams a day but no fat or carb intake goal. I’m my paperwork i was only told 7-9 servings of protein to get to my 50-60grams in, 1-3 servings of fat.

    Figs

Can you have fig fruit on stage 3? On my examples of food given to me for stage 2 and 3 Canned pears, canned peaches, banana mashed or puréed, watermelon, applesauce. But at the bottom it says “you are not limited to this list”

So what are you unable to eat now?

I haven’t had anything not set well in my new pouch yet I’ve only tried tuna with light mayo, egg whites with sugar free bbq, cottage cheese and with a couple ritz crackers. On my liquids/semi liquid I had protein shakes, Gatorade zero, liquid yogurt Low sugar and non fat, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, sugar free popsicle and strained soups. I am telling myself not to have bread or pasta due to high carbs and that’s what had me gaining a lot before Surgery.

    Last Meal...

    Good luck! 👍🏼
  24. Today I woke up around 9am ish and I still have no appetite just so you know. I Grab myself a Atkins chocolate protein shake for breakfast (first time trying the chocolate kind and i felt fine after my first couple sips so I continued) and I still can only drink half at a time. When I was done it was around 10:00 and Had a few sips of Gatorade zero At 10:30. At around 10:45 I decided to go for a walk and made myself a task to walk around my court for 10 minutes since last week I would do you 5 minutes 2 times a day. Well today during my walk I felt fine I didn’t think I pushed it until I came back inside my house and sat down. I felt slightly nauseous. At about 11:00 The nausea I have had lesson so I decided to make an appointment to get my nails done and at around 12 I started to get more nauseous, more than earlier! I thought it’s fine it’ll go away like earlier so at 12:45 I started to get ready to leave for my appointment to the nail salon and I sit down crying from how nauseous I was. I felt like throwing up but I wouldn’t. I ended up calling at 1:15 to cancel my appointment. After that I was telling my mother whom stayed home with me last week just Incase and she was telling me to just rest and not go anywhere. So I lay down and fell asleep at 1:40 and woke up an hour later feeling like nothing happened. Has this happened to anyone? I am 8 days post op Surgery weight: 266.8 Current weight as of yesterday: 254
