So I am currently in the soft food phase but I'm wondering other than tuna salmon, and eggs what else are you guys eating? I just made zucchini noodles with ground turkey with marinara sauce and it was delicious but now I'm wondering if that was even okay?

Can we eat certain foods post op
thelostmermaid posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, so I know that this is bad but I'm wondering if post-op after a few months if I wanted to try the keto diet, can we have meats such as sausage, pastrami, steak? Obvioulsy that won't be my entire diet it'll be mixed in with lots of non starchy vegetables but wanted to know if those meats were allowed. -
February 2019 weight loss buds

See, I thought I wasn't going to have any complications and I ended up having a lot so I guess it's a 50/50. Regardless, all complications can be fixed. My complications was bleeding in the stool and I was severely dehydrated but after getting IV's put in place and getting a blood transfusion all is back to normal. It's a scary thing to have happen however the doctors are trained for even the worst possible outcome. Goodluck on your surgery!!!! -

So the soup has a little kick to it but it is not too bad. they also have a tomato basil soup that is amazing. But yes, I have not been disappointed with any of their soups. I don't however like that I have to replace the soup after 7 days of opening it. They don't come in a can they come in a carton. -
So I know this isn't a fun topic but immediately after post-op I had lots of bleeding in the stool and had to spend another night in the hospital. Now, in the support group that I am in with other patients from my doctors office, a lady said that she had a bowel obstruction. I wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this, how to avoid this from happening, and if I should be concerned. Obviously the bloody stool caused for concern and that's why I spent another night at the hospital but I ma mainly worried about being at risk for a bowel obstruction.

OMG I was and still am craving mac and cheese!!!! I keep getting this commercial showing the best looking mac and cheese and it's absolute torture. Towards the end of it, I ditched the soups and stuck to low fat greek yogurt and jello. Idk where you live but if you have a Trader Joes near you, they have an amazing black bean and chipotle soup. -
February 2019 weight loss buds

Hey! So don't worry whatsoever, I was eating huge meals and drinking a lot of beer before my two week liquid diet started and if I'm honest, I cheated a little here and there but only with a bite or two. I probably gained weight between my last visit with the surgeon and the beginning of the two week liquid diet. I'm not saying to go out and cheat but I am telling you that it's normal. Within the time frame that I did the two week liquid diet I ended up loosing 17lbs, bringing me lower than I was when I saw my surgeon. Best of luck to the two of you. Another great piece of advice is, when in the hospital if there are other patients who had weight loss surgery, don't compare yourself and progress to them, it will do you no good. -
Has surgery 10 days ago, I was so excited Now Iam so depressed

Hey hun!!! So post op my cravings for unhealthy food were worse than when I was doing the 2 week liquid diet pre-op. Now I don't know if it's because of the lack of food but I have noticed a strain on my relationship and friendships. My fiancé and friends are very supportive about my decision but lately I just seem to want to fight everyone then I get sad after. -

So they actually didn't state where the blood was coming from, but they did say that it could be common with patients who undergo weight loss surgery. I'm part of another support group and asked them if anyone had experienced that and a good handful of them said yes. Some of them said the had bloody stool for up to a few days, and that they just have to let it pass but to make sure that your blood levels don't go down too much. And thank you, have you had surgery yet? -
Getting cold feet, normal?
thelostmermaid replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Just keep in mind why you decided to go through this life change in the beginning. Most importantly make sure that it's something YOU want and not something someone else is pressuring you to do. A lot of people thought having the surgery was my boyfriend's idea until he came out and said he didn't even want me to have it. I decided to have it because I want to have kids in the next few years but I also want to be living a healthier lifestyle I can then move to them. -
100 lbs in under a year?
thelostmermaid replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How do you make sure that you don't over do it on the water? My worst fear is stretching my stomach due to the water intake. If it were up to me I'd be drinking water the entire day -

thelostmermaid replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So, I had the gastric bypass done February 1st. I had a few complications right after surgery, I was really dehydrated and the second day I had a lot of blood in my stool. However, I am doing much better now. I have lost 7 lbs since the day of the surgery and have lost 24lbs in total from the start of my pre-op liquid diet. -

Hey!!!! So because I was severely dehydrated right out of surgery I had to stay in bed a little longer and couldn't really move a lot just get out of bed but by later in the same evening I was able to walk 20+ laps around the hospital! Now I'm five days post op and was able to walk about 3 miles in an hour. Goodluck ! -

It feels like it's going to take forever then it comes all at once lol -
I went with the Gastric Bypass. I actually had complications post-op, the day after my surgery I had bloody stool and lost a lot of blood and was severely dehydrated. I was given a blood transfusion and 2 IV bags at a time. This definitely brought down my faith a little but I just keep reminding myself why I did this.

Going in for bypass coming out with a sleeve done
thelostmermaid replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey so this almost happened to me but for a different reason. I went in for a bypass and I was signing the consent for, literally right before surgery the consent for surgery stated "gastric sleeve operation". Had I not caught that mistake I would've came out with a sleeve! -
So I cheated on my pre-op diet
thelostmermaid posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, So I'm on my pre-op 2 week liquid diet my surgery is February 1st. Prior to today I've cheated very little such as having a small bite of salmon or something but literally just a bite. And I was going strong until earlier this afternoon I served my self a plate of food and chewed it then spit it out without swallowing it, It's the early stages to an eating disorder and I don't think I'm at risk for it but just wanted a different texture other than soup and protein shakes. Did anyone else go through this?- 4 replies
