Eight Months Out
Pug-Mom-Patti replied to comingupmilhouse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on you success! 😊 I feel the same way! I’m a few weeks ahead of you (surgery was March 8th). I started to slow down in September, then had a 6 week stall and now I’m starting to lose a few here and there. My surgeon predicted I would get down to 184 and I’ve set a goal of 178. The doc at my weight loss center said that might be difficult considering my age (I’m 47) but I WILL DO IT! I freaked out because I gained 2.5 lbs from Thanksgiving but added a few extra workout sessions and today, those suckers are gone. I’m terrified that I’ve hit the end of the losing cycle, but am determined to do everything I can to keep going. it is reassuring to read similar posts and know others feel the same way, it keeps me going. @FluffyChix I love the Barbie Dream Girl Goal, is it ok if I steal that?? 🤣 @comingupmilhouse You’ve got this!! 💪🏻💪🏻 -
Overwhelming wins and losses

I just want to say that I think you did a great job posting your thoughts, feelings and experiences! I relate to many of the things you wrote, but this is my absolute favorite part: Do this for you and no one else, do this because you are ready even when you feel you aren’t. Do this for your health but also your wellbeing. Do this knowing that you need to still put in the work. Do this knowing each persons experience is different but yours is yours and as important as anyone else’s. Thank you for putting yourself out here and congratulations on all of your current and future successes! 😊😊 -
Happy birthday! Sending you healing thoughts! 🥳😊

Raises hand! A year ago, I finally hit bottom and was tired of always feeling crappy, not liking how I looked, having no self confidence, etc. and made the decision to have surgery. Fast forward...I am 8 months out and am starting to love what I see in the mirror. I’m starting to take more risks, finding my voice and coming into my own. The photo on the left was me five years ago, the one on the right was 3 weeks ago. I still have a ways to go to hit my goal but I’m pretty freakin proud of how far I’ve come and can’t wait to see what’s ahead. -
Last Sunday marked 6 months since surgery. I have lost 83 lbs (118 from my highest weight). I’m starting to find my voice, have more confidence in myself and the decisions I make. I’m starting to shop at stores other than Lane Bryant or Torrid. I’m even exercising and kind of enjoy it! I also find myself making poor food choices, some candy or a cookie instead of protein. I’ve had a rough few weeks. My weight loss has significantly slowed to a crawl and I've had a few bouts of negative self talk and beating myself up, instead of acknowledging the decision and moving forward. I had an appointment with my therapist a few days ago, which helped and I will continue working on making better choices and not best myself up. I'm scared because I don’t want to go backwards and regain the weight. The rational side of my brain is saying to take a deep breath, trust my tool and get back to basics. My irrational side of my brain is hysterically screaming that I’ve ruined everything, broken my pouch so I might as well eat another piece of candy. I know this is going to take lots of hard work, sweat, maybe a few tears and I need to believe in me. If this were my best friend saying all of this you bet your a@@ I would be her biggest cheerleader, so now I need to do the same for me. thanks for letting me rant. I don’t post very often but just needed to say these things to someone who might be able to relate. 😊

Congratulations, you look great! 😊 -
I had surgery on March 8th and am down 70 lbs since surgery and 105 lbs from my highest weight. I have some challenges with food, at times I don’t listen to my pouch and take that extra bite of food, which results in me getting sick, but I’m working on listening to my body. I’m also fearful of gaining everything back down the road. I’ve had several people tell me about a friend who had surgery years ago and gained all the weight back. I know everyone is different and I’m in control of my food choices but I can’t help but worry. Overall, it’s been gong well and I’m really happy I finally made the choice to have surgery. 😊

Two months ago, March 8th.

I’m down 44 lbs, but it’s been a struggle. I still have a ton of food aversions and still haven’t figured out the I’m full feeling and continue to take one more bite, which leads to dumping...I’ve done this three times while at work, so not pretty. LOL 😝

Same thing happened to me. My surgeon said it would be gone around the second week, and he was right! Hope all is well! -

Thats great news how are you feeling? -
I was a little backed up earlier this week and had 2 oz of hummus. A few hours later, things were moving again. Had hummus again last night and this morning things were moving.

I found the patches in the BariatricPal store, currently I’m using the multi-vitamin, iron, b-12 and calcium/d3. There isn’t a lot of research or stats but I’ve read on here that some use the patches successfully and I think something is better than nothing because at this point, my stomach just can’t take those vitamins...it’s just too much!

Thank you! good luck on Wednesday and keep us posted!

Yesterday marked two weeks since surgery and I’ve been feeling good. Saw my surgeon and all is healing well. I went back to work on Wednesday and am just a little tired. I’m in the purée stage and have been handling that well, but get full so fast I’m not getting all my protein in but am hitting my water goals. I’m still really sensitive to smells and struggle with my vitamins (they stink!) haha so I’m trying out the patches. my first NSV happened the other day - I was able to fit into a pair of jeans that would go past my hips the day before surgery 😊 hope everyone one is well and sending those who have upcoming surgery well wishes! PMP

Hi Everyone, It’s been a few days since I’ve checked in. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers. I hope everyone is doing ok! Last time I posted, they were admitting me to the hospital due to a pesky kidney stone. So, I ended up there for two days, and they finally decided to surgically remove the stone. I went home that evening and feel like a new woman. Now, I’ve transitioned to puree food, and I made some chicken salad. BEST. MEAL. EVER. lol Now, I need to work on getting in allmy liquids and proteins in for the day. I’ve also noticed I am way more sensitive to smells....all of my vitamins stink lol PMP 😊

I’m so sorry to hear this! I hope they get everything addressed properly at the ER. Thinking of you and will pray for complete quick healing! Please check back in when you can to let us know how you’re doing. Thanks Claricey! So they ended up admitting me last night around 1:00 am. Still haven’t passed the stone, there has been some debate about sending me home and wait it out, thankfully I have a great RN, who pushed for me to stay one more night and get fluids pumped by IV. If the stone hasn’t passed tomorrow, they may have to put in a stent. im in much better spirits than yesterday, waiting for my broth and sugar free popsicle 😊 hope eveyone one else is doing ok!!

Hi Everyone, feeling a little down today. Had surgery on Friday, 3/8, was in the ER Monday 3/11 and diagnosed with a kidney stone. Since then, the pain has been terrible, I’m nauseous all the time, i have no desire to drink anything and when I do, it makes me want to throw up. I know I’m probably dehydrated. I called my surgeon this morning before they opened and left a message w the service. At 5:30 pm they hadn’t called me back, so I called again and got the service. This time a dr called me right back but couldn’t really help and said I can wait to get an appt at their office or go to the ER. so I now have an appt at the ER at 8:00. 🙁

Thanks everyone. I’m feeling much better today! 😊
