April 2019 Surgeries!
Sberryblond replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 1 year anniversary was April 15. It did go by fast! I’m not to my goal weight yet, but I’m close! One of the best decisions I’ve ever made! -

April 2019 Surgeries!

I had my VSG on Apr 15...I’m down 48 lbs total, 39 lbs since surgery. I’m still struggling to get in 64 oz of fluids a day, but I’m doing better. I have no issues eating or getting in my protein. I have to keep reminding myself that slow & steady wins the race, but being down 2 clothing sizes (almost 3!) feels great! -

Were almost surgery twins! My VGS was on 4/15. My HW was 227, pre-surg 218 and I’m at 198 now (I’m 5’1”). I’ve felt the same way, especially since I was at 199 for 5 days! But I’m down 2 shirt sizes and 1 pant size, so I know I’m losing! Just trying to stay positive...get to start regular foods Monday! -

Yes I did! Week 3 I was at the same weight for 4 days, lost a pound and stayed there for another 3 days. I’m averaging about 2 lbs/week, which is excruciating for me, but I have to try and look at the big picture. Stay strong! -

Keep in mind that our daily goal is 60-80 grams of protein a day, not 80, so quit stressing yourself out and know that the upper end will come eventually! -

Oh my gosh, that’s awful! As a former GERD sufferer, I understand. What did you try and eat? -

How long post-op are you? Which food stage are you in? If you’re where you should be, you need to call your doctor; if you jumped in ahead of time, a painful lesson learned, I’m afraid. Hope you feel better soon! -
That was my date! I got a VSG. How are you doing??

We’re almost surgery twins! My surgery was April 15 and I had a VSG. I’m 5’1”, starting weight was 227, day of surgery weight was 216, and my goal weight is 145-150. I hope things are going well for you! I can hardly wait to get to my puréed food stage lol I’m already sick of all my fluids! I haven’t had any issues. How have you done so far? -

I just got my sleeve Mon, Apr 15 and came home yesterday. Things have gone really well! I’m working on my fluid intake with my tracker sheet. My pain has been minimal, as has been my nausea. I’m mostly just tired, which is totally expected. I got my laps in at the hospital with no problems, and am making sure I get up at least once an hour during awake hours to keep blood circulating. My biggest struggle has been doing the spirometer as often as I should have in the hospital and I can tell. -
My surgeon and nutritionist said Flintstones aren’t acceptable because they’re made for children’s needs, not adult bariatric patients! I’m going to be taking Bariatric Fusion chewables, which also include the extra calcium were to take also.

My date is April 15! I’m on my 1 week pre-surgery liquid diet. I’m having my surgery through WVU’s Bariatric program here in WV. They’re fantastic!
