Was there a pivotal moment that made you say I’m doing this?
DanaC84 replied to Imnotpicky's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine is health related but in a round about way. I’ve had high bp, diabetes, high cholesterol, migraines, the list can go on and on but you get the idea. But that was my every day life and I was complacent about it. One night when all the kids and grand kids were over I was making dinner. At the time I had a granddaughter that would hardly eat anything other than Mac n cheese. While reaching to the back burner to stir another pot my pinky was up against the boiling pan. I didn’t feel a thing until it was already a 3rd degree burn. That was my ah ha moment. I had no idea my nerve damage had become so severe in my hands and feet from my diabetes . I’m not sure I can reverse any of that damage but I’m sure praying that it’s halted. -

But I could do protein water.

Not on his plan. Only clear the first week. I started shakes week 2

My surgeon didn’t give me an example meal/water plan until the soft foods stage. At week 1 it was just getting in as much water or protein water i could. Here’s the hand out I was given

Somewhere on here I read about someone (wish I could remember who/which thread) saying they used canned pumpkin. I added it to some very thin cream of wheat with a touch of cinnamon. After weeks of liquids it was heaven!!!

I hope you get news quickly!! Mine was over the Christmas holidays so I expected it to take much longer than it actually did. Then I was ready to schedule surgery the next day lol! Had to wait about 3 weeks but it flew by

I had an increased sense of smell as well. Very similar to each of my pregnancies. But I’ve not noticed it quite as bad now. (I’m a little over 3 weeks out)

What Lotions & Creams have you tried during weightloss.
DanaC84 replied to Wendums's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m going to have to look into the bio oil too. I’ve used Eucerin Advanced Therapy lotion for years due to the dry skin from diabetes so that’s all I’m currently using . But my face!! I’ve had the exact opposite. Since surgery I’ve been getting zits! I’ve had to go back to using Stridex and Clearasil . Haven’t had that problem in 40 years . But I’ll swap a zit for pounds any day of the week -
My husband is supportive but rather than asking why I couldn’t he would say he thought I was overweight but no way obese. Sometimes I think we have to understand that our spouses struggle with the threat of what inevitably are a risk with ALL surgeries. And that’s scary for them.

My dr gave me a script for zofran before I was even discharged. If the OTC doesn’t do the trick I’d consider calling your surgeon.

I hope it doesn’t offend anyone for my “hearts” on your posts. I’m a stalker of this thread. I keep thinking “this will be me in a year “. Thank you all for inspiration.

February 2019 weight loss buds

I’ve been using the app Lose It for years. There’s a free version but you have to pay to use the water tracker. I use a 30 oz ozark trail tumbler so I just make sure I fill it at least twice a day plus some. I’ve tried to change apps but I’ve used this one for so long and have created a lot of custom recipes. I enjoy tracking and I also use it sometimes to map out what I’m going to eat. -
I’m not seeing the numbers drop like I had hoped either. My surgeon is fantastic and when I saw him one week post op (surgery was 1/21) I asked if I was on track. He said he didn’t care what my weight was that day. He cares what it is in 10 years. (I really love my surgeon and team). Now I’ve hit I guess what everyone calls the 3 week stall. BUT as a was tracking my food this morning I checked my graph for weight. From my highest a few years ago I’m down over 30 lbs. That encouraged me. Slow and steady wins the race. But in my heart of hearts I SO WANT to see that scale move dag nabbit!!

Hahaha!! Yea, I binged watched a lot those first few days. And it took me a few days to get my days and nights back in order

Preparing for 2 week liquid diet😬
DanaC84 replied to jenifaoh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can do it!!! The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was the lethargy and complete lack of energy. I was on full , clear liquids so I couldn’t do protein shakes. I used protein waters and found I really liked the fruit flavored ones. I find them too sweet now but at the time they were great. Sugar free popsicles were a God send. I liked the broths but they had a tendency to go right through me. But no, in answer to your question. I didn’t do any trials beforehand. You got this!!! -
Congratulations on your surgery and new journey !!

Oh my goodness!! I’m so sorry you had to go through another surgery but I’m glad you were able to get your issues resolved. Prayers for a speedy recovery -
A dermatologist told me to spray vinegar on a paper towel, fold it up and place on area and let sit for 15 minutes. Works like a charm and CHEAP!

Congratulations!! I will be thrilled if I can hit 30 lbs in less than a month. IMHO if it’s working I wouldn’t worry -
January surgeries?!
DanaC84 replied to jessicaalyssa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 1/21. I did ok on the soft foods but experienced that when I moved to solid foods. I think mine was not eating slowly enough and watching for signs of being full and realizing at that point I CANNOT take one more bite or it’s all coming up. My head wants to eat it all so badly but my pouch says No. I know everyone’s signs are different but mine vary between that pressure under my sternum, burping or hiccups and sometimes even a sneeze. I’m no expert on this whole thing yet but this is my experience so far. -
At my goal weight a week away from 7 months post-op
DanaC84 replied to AlteredReality's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Silly question maybe but how did you know you were lacking in zinc? Is it a service your surgeon provided or you had done on your own? (Newbie. Sleeved 1/21) And your story is very inspirational to me! -
Surgery In 2.5 Weeks and I Haven't Told Husband Yet...
DanaC84 replied to Boldilocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly what bodycando said! I was constantly comparing my ability to consume drinks with no problems and then the purées/yogurts at the next phase to others. I was convinced my surgeon left too large of a pouch. He convinced me everyone is different and the food stage would prove different. And it has. (I was sleeved 1/21)
