    Pre Op Diet

This is almost identical to what mine was. I never knew there was a difference between clear liquid diet and full liquid diet which I had to do for my first week post op. Yea, I got to where I’d only watch things I had DVR’d because of all the darn food commercials! You got this though! It’ll be here before you know it

    Miss concernd

I think just about every person on here has had a different pre op / post op diet. I would follow what your surgeon has layed out for you. I’ve read a lot of people on here that didn’t have to do a pre op and what he said for post op seems reasonable. As far as how to take your meds I would consult your surgeon. I can tell you my son had DS surgery two years ago and he was working in a nursing home as a patient tech at the time. He was only off work for 10 days. Depending on your drs weight lifting restrictions you may have to be on modified duties but he wasn’t. I thought that was too soon so I’m glad to see you have a month! It seems like you are experiencing the same jitters we all face when it finally becomes “real”. Just try to focus on “what is” and not the “what if’s” and take it one baby step at a time. You got this!!!

    Weight loss avg

I just met with my nutritionist today and I talked about the same thing with her. The one thing she stressed is to NOT compare your rate of loss with someone else’s. So easy to say, quite another to do! But she said so many factors go into it including how much you weighed when you started, sex, age, etc. BUT regardless if you lose it fast or slow we WILL lose it. Hang in there, we can DO this

    January surgeries?!

I hope both of you recover well from your gb surgeries! I had mine out years ago and the recoveries from both it and wls seemed very similar but I sure wouldn’t want to go through it back to back!! I just had my 1 month post op visit with my surgeon and nut! I was dreading it because I thought I should’ve lost more but it was such a mood booster! My surgeon did a swallow test so that was awesome to see my new stomach! I was convinced he had left too big of a pouch because I don’t have the restrictions a lot of people complain about. But nope, little sliver of a banana! As I was walking out of the room he said I’m no longer in the morbidly obese range!!!! Woo hoo!! Also had a nice long chat with my nutritionist. I told her I’ve been sticking to 500-700 calories. She felt my body may be in starvation mode at that level so to up it to 800-1000. I’m scared to do that but I’ll try it for a week and see what happens but will most likely keep it closer to 800. Or rotate higher calories some days and lower the next. Who knows, right? We all have to figure out what works best for us.
  9. Congratulations @FluffyChix! What an amazing achievement! For the group: I’m just 1 month out but try to do at least a 12:12 IF. I just can’t seem to get all my proteins in without that last snack of yogurt. I’m wondering if I worked in a snack or two during the day would be better and then nothing after dinner. I’ll mention it to my Dr today but thought I’d ask you pros as well.

    Lost 75 pounds!!

    Woo hoo!!!! 🎉🎈🎉🎈
  12. My nut let me know those intakes were goals and would not be achievable right after surgery. My surgeon told me while I was still in the hospital to try to get in 6 oz every hour I was awake. Just keep sipping. You’ll get there!
  13. I’ve been in a funk for a day in a half for a host of reasons but normally I can snap myself out of it fairly quickly. I had an “aha” moment last night. Normally when I’m like this my go to fix was a bag of m&ms and I don’t mean the snack size. It was empowering to realize I’m not letting past coping slip in.

    I love your attitude!!!
  15. I’m too much of a newbie to offer any advise but I happened across this article while searching for another topic. I thought it had a lot of useful info and I saved it in my favorites for future reference. Although I snickered at the “how to easily....” . https://bariatricity.com/how-to-easily-break-a-stall-after-weight-loss-surgery/

Thank you for this!! I needed to hear this, today especially. I’m really discouraged by my lack of progress (as far as the scale goes). I expected to have lost a significant amount my first month and I just haven’t! I’m trying to focus on non scale victories. I have more energy, I’m off my diabetes drugs, I can see the toilet seat (lol, but true!). I know I’ve not strayed off my plan one iota. Sorry for the pity party, it’s not in my nature but it is truthful for where I am right now.

    No weight loss

Yes! And I want to rip my hair (or anyone’s that brave enough to get near lol) out! I go for my one month follow up next Tuesday and I’m not looking forward to it.
  18. Hi and welcome aboard! I’m 56 and 4 weeks post op from the sleeve. Isn’t is great that it’s never too late to make a change for the better? I look forward to getting to know you on this journey =)

    One week Post op

Yep! One week post op my husband walked in the room and I was ugly crying for absolutely no reason. It was all harmonal and passed quickly. And the tiredness and weakness were so much worse than I had prepared for. I’m four weeks out now and am finally not only getting my energy back but have more than before. Be gentle with yourself and give your body the time it needs to heal.

    Sick for endoscopy?

I felt REALLY icky the Saturday before my sleeve surgery and had the same anxiety (surgery was scheduled for Monday am). But luckily for me it passed and all was fine. I was sucking on zinc tablets every 3-4 hours for that first 24 hours!
  25. My team hasn’t mentioned that but I’m new on this journey . I googled and most of what I read was from a study done in 2005. But from my own experience I know it’s easier for me personally to say no to that piece of chocolate (or birthday cake) than the alternative. It opens a floodgate of cravings and if not cravings then the mindset “well that didn’t make me gain” so I let snacking and bad choices creep back in. That in a nutshell is how I gained back every pound I’ve ever lost.
