I give you a lot of credit for catching it now and I agree, if you have counseling available it is wise to access it. This is the first time I’ve had to deal with the addict side of my food issues. Not fun but definitely an eye opener.

I just read this article and also posted it in our 50+ thread but posting here as well since our challenge involves snacking. It has some of the most forthright, common sense approach I’ve ever read about late night snacking. https://coderedlifestyle.com/latenighteating/

14) Cooking. I love it! I still cook for my whole family and I’m not having a difficult time fixing things that meets all of our needs. I’m just not baking like I used to. I can pass store bought cookies, etc but home made is a WHOLE other battle I’m not willing to face quite yet, if ever

I just read this great article when an acquaintance mentioned she was doing “Code Red” . I never heard of it so I googled and one link was this one: https://coderedlifestyle.com/latenighteating/ I’ve never read such a forthright, common sense, say it how it is article about late night snacking!! I think it’s time to up my game 💪🏻

Do you add something to the powder so it’s not “powder” you’re dipping in to? I don’t but I hear you can. I just dip it right in the powder and the moisture from the apple makes just the right amount stick.

Yes, I do tend to fork through it to pick up more of the protein. I have to watch my fruits too. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with wls or just years of conditioning from being a diabetic. Some mind sets are hard to lose.

Congratulations!!! You’re almost there 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Just received insurance approval!
DanaC84 replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations!! In my case it depended on my surgeons first available and for me that was three weeks. We scheduled it at the same time they called to tell me insurance was approved. Such exciting times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 -
Amazing !! I’m getting better and better about not getting on the scale. It’s better for our overall health and well being to be positive and that 12x12 piece of whatever it’s made of robs me of that.

I think we’re right around the same surgery time and I’ve been tolerating spinach and 50/50 blends well. I do have to watch the stems are pinched off or they can sort of catch. It’s my go to if I have just a bit of leftover protein. But obviously, trust your gut (literally 😂😂😂) And thank you @RickM ! Very informative video. There should be a video only link thread on here 😎

Lost only 1 pound in a week
DanaC84 replied to annrose28's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I came home weighing 12 lbs more than I went in and the scale didn’t budge those first few weeks. What everyone said, your body has been through a lot. Give it time to heal and adjust. Best advice that’s the hardest to take is lose the scale and don’t compare your loss rate with what you see others post. And if you haven’t yet, take your measurements. That has helped me a lot because even when the scale wasn’t moving my neck went down a whole inch in a week. Hang in there 👍🏻 -
Day 3 of Pre-op diet. 11 more to go.
DanaC84 replied to Ellf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s not easy to deal with cravings and it’s not something that went away magically after surgery. The way I dealt with it pre op is the same way I’m dealing with it now. First thinking about how far I’ve come already by staying committed (even when that was just into the 2nd hour pre op😂) and realizing doing what I always have had only gotten me where I was at. You can do this! It’s hard but nothing worth it is easy. And you ARE worth it . Hang in there -
That is awesome news!! I’m hoping to get off my bp meds when I see my primary at the end of this month. I’m so happy for you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

adding in your "addiction foods"
DanaC84 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I’m with ya on this! It would scare the bejeezus out of me too. Carbs are (were?? Hopefully were) my vice as well. Cutting out bread, rice and pasta has been the hardest part of this for me, by far. Maybe he doesn’t get that he’s offering heroin to an addict? At least that’s how I have think of it in MY addict brain. I do eat sweet potatoes and find they don’t increase my sugar cravings or craving more carbs but I know we’re all different. What about quinoa, blueberries or bananas? 🤷🏻♀️ -
Your symptoms sound classic and your dr ruled out other factors. I was glycemic years ago. They make hypoglycemic tabs available in most pharmacies you can carry with you. They may have perfected the tests but I never tested positive. The test is (or was at least) based on the premise that my blood sugar dropped in the time frame they came in and tested it. Good luck! You will feel so much better now that you know what’s going on and can knick those episodes as soon as they start

From what I understand my dr only submitted my initial weight and my last visit weight. I’d check with your surgeons office. If it’s the same for you it will set your mind at ease to know a little fluctuation is not going to derail you as long as that final weigh in is at or under goal

Congratulations Robin!! You won’t regret your decision and the future healthier us will thank us for it!! (You might question it while your recuperating but that is totally normal!!!)

13) skill or hobby I’d like to take up: well not take up but take BACK up is art. It’s a huge part of who I am and I could so lose myself in the process that I wouldn’t even hear my husband coming home from work and walking up behind me. I miss it. My mom came to live with us in 2015 after me having to live with her in another state for a year while she recuperated enough to travel, sell her home, belongings etc. I’m not complaining about being a caregiver. I wouldn’t have it any other way but I do miss it. In the meantime I journal and sketch.

I think I’m in love with your trainer 😂😂😂 What a sweetheart! I’m so glad you’re BP seems more manageable and good luck with waiting til your appointment in April but please, don’t white knuckle it! If it gets too bad make that call (but I know you will!!) Keep it up! You’re honesty is refreshing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Mine told me none for the first month. My problem was I was addicted to all the flavorful creamers, especially French vanilla. Having a cup now with milk and stevia
