Video: Emotional Mind Games After Surgery
DanaC84 replied to JCKlgl123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you much for sharing this! It’s EXACTLY what I needed to hear at this very moment 😎 -
Thank you for this! I am just about at the 7 week mark and for the first time I’ve seen the scale drop for the last two days! And I am TOTALLY on board with sticking to OUR drs plan . What brand of protein water are you drinking? I used to love the Premiere fruit punch but after my liquid stages, not so much 🥴

I’m tying #15 and #16 together because they’re both the same for me. The thing that lights me up and deeply moves me is my family. They are my motivation for getting healthy even though I did this for myself. We support each other daily in all of our struggles and I’m just blessed that we all LIKE each other. (But of course there’s days I’d like to throttle them 😂😂😂)

I prefer spring and fall. I’m not a big fan of extreme cold or heat. It keeps me from being outside. I love the days I can just throw on a pair of shoes and take a walk without having to worry about layers and layers of clothing or having to go at 5am to beat the heat .

Correction: it was only 10 on the 1 week liquid. Sorry about that!!

I didn’t think I’d have to be dealing so much with the food addict side of things. I thought I HAD dealt with it but the ugly monster that raises its head late at night begs to differ

spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend/family heavy??
DanaC84 replied to ProudGrammy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hubs could probably stand to lose a few but basically looks the same as when we got married 35 years ago (albeit with less hair). I was thin back then too but doubled my weight during my 3rd (and last) pregnancy. He’s supported and loved me through thick and thin. -
I lost 18. But I gained back 12 post op before I came home so 🤷🏻♀️ Are you having to work that week? I was not prepared for how lethargic I would be on the liquid diet.

That is astonishing!!! Congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Post up semi solid food
DanaC84 replied to Britgirl44's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr didn’t focus on calories that early in the game as much as Water and Protein intake. And yes, other than the first two days I didn’t/don’t feel constriction when I drink. -
You’re looking great!!! I’m sure it varies from plan to plan but I think I started adding them in at 4 weeks. I started slowly and only one new thing at a time. Fruits on my plan depend on the skin. I have to peel apples. But other than apples, blueberries and a half of a frozen banana in a Protein smoothie I haven’t tried anything else yet
-
Wowzers!! That is over 6 1/2 lbs per week! I think that’s pretty phenomenal and congratulations!!!
-
Welcome to all of you!! Very exciting times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Yea, pre op AND post op diets vary greatly. As you progress and read more posts it may / will make you question the plan your surgeon has laid out for you. Especially when you’re still on liquids and someone who had surgery the same time as you is already eating, like EATING EATING! Lol! Congratulations to all and good luck on your prospective journeys 👍🏻

January surgeries?!
DanaC84 replied to jessicaalyssa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely call your surgeon or primary if you’re experiencing pain this far out. Are you able to eat soft foods like canned tuna, chicken or cottage cheese? Maybe go back to some of those starter foods if you’re struggling with dense proteins. -
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And cracking up at the “May or not have” 😂
-
My new super cute rain boots were just delivered and they fit over my calves!!!

I chuckled a bit at 6:30 being “late night “ as well. I just thought it hammered home some great insights I needed to hear . When something gets too science based in its explanation a part of me switches off.

Yay!! I’m so happy for you! And ikr??!! Even when I thought I had done all the prep work it’s a lot different on this side when I literally can’t eat a bag of m&ms to deal with _________ ( fill in the blank). Now I get it when vets say the surgery is the easy part. They sure aren’t kidding! Best of luck and keep us posted 👍🏻

Hey @LoveFood ! Was just thinking about you and hoping you’re doing ok. From a fellow slow loser club member I can totally relate to your frustration. My 3 top tips (that I wish I could follow myself 😂) 1) STOP weighing. Period! If it’s bringing frustration and stress it can have an adverse effect on your progress. 2) take your measurements. Even during a week when the scale showed nothing I had lost an inch in my neck alone 3) Follow the plan your Dr/team set up for you to the T. If you aren’t measuring your food, start. In my case I wasn’t getting as much protein as I thought when I started weighing and measuring. And then just stay the course. It’s rough when I read these “I lost 30 lbs in one month”. I’m happy for them but it makes me feel like I’VE done something wrong. Each of us lose at different rates based on beginning weight, sex, age and harmones. It WILL happen and statistics are in our favor that those who lose slow and steady are more likely to keep it off. (Maybe I made that last one up but I’m sticking with it!!) Hang in there!! I’m walking right there next to you and WE WILL get there 👍🏻

I imagine you’re in recovery about now!! Welcome to the other side 👍🏻( and yes, it gets better!)

My husband and family were and are extremely supportive. I’ll read a lot of posts on here that some people cleanse their house of junk food. I haven’t gone that route. My family doesn’t have a problem with food, I do. And I get the whole “if it’s not healthy for you, it’s not healthy for them”. But I have to choose my battles and I’m not sure they would be near as supportive if I forced my requirements on them.

Almost 4 days post op
DanaC84 replied to angie_is_losing_it's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s been 3 days so I wouldn’t say you’re a slow healer (at least not yet). The first few days were a bear for me as well. Take the pain meds if they gave them to you and just take it slow. You should be able to stand more upright by the weekend but may still feel pulling and twinges for a few more weeks. And I also didn’t get the massive relief of passing a lot of gas either so my first few weeks I didn’t see much movement on the scale. Hang in there and just keep telling yourself it will all be worth it a year from now 👍🏻 -
Hello! Just a Quick Introduction

Welcome and here’s to hoping it’s just 3 months 👍🏻 -
Good luck and wishing you smooth sailing on all of your pre op requirements. I’m with ya on living our Best Life 👍🏻
