Preparing Your House
DanaC84 replied to NotActive1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great tip!!My Daughter in law did that with the little plastic medicine cups to measure her Water in take. She’d line them up and set her timer and drink one every time it went off. She was having a really rough time getting her water in too -
Symptoms after post op?

Yes but not til I was cleared for it and I think on mine it was three weeks 🤔 -
Pre op IV question!
DanaC84 replied to NoNonSense89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. I’m a “hard stick”. Hopefully yours is just a temporary thing because you may have been dehydrated. Mine stayed bruised for quite a bit and at times itched. And I’m sorry, I just saw that you have a phobia of needles. -
Emotional Eating
DanaC84 replied to SargentSkittles's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’m working on this myself. I just got out my paints and plan on making it part of my journey. I had googled earlier emotional eating podcasts and I’m going to start listening to them on my walks. https://player.fm/podcasts/Emotional%20Eating. -
Getting my diabetes under control was a huge goal for me. I’m no longer on my meds and for the first time since I was diagnosed I had a morning reading of 99. I was as excited about THAT number as I imagine I will be when I hit ONEDERLAND.

Symptoms after post op?

Making home made cream of broccoli was the first thing I made post op too. I put mine in the blender and it was sooooo good after weeks of no REAL food. -
Feeling Shakey 2 1/2 Weeks Post
DanaC84 replied to brittcarter91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everything @RickM said and i would look up the side effects of the medication you’re on. You might have to be switched to another antidepressant that doesn’t effect your bp. I hope you get answers before your flight leaves!! -
You pretty much answered your own question in the first sentence when you said you KNOW it’s a no no. So I’m assuming your surgeon doesn’t have you on a plan that involves food at this early stage. Sorry but you really need to follow what your drs told you, especially since you’ve had a double whammy with the addition of gb surgery. Give your body a chance to heal. I know how hard it is but hang in there. You are worth it

Liquid diet post op recipes? Or recipes in general?
DanaC84 replied to Alikiinz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your surgeon give you a list of items you could have at this stage? I’ve learned from being on here that our pre op and post op diets vary greatly from person to person. I was on clear liquids for one week post op which meant I couldn’t do shakes, only protein water. Sugar free drinks, thin broths with no chunks, sugar free popsicles and jello, decaf coffee. Then I was on Full Liquid for another week. -
Food Cravings Chart - Do You Have Cravings? Here's the Fix!
DanaC84 replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think it has a lot of merit. It’s part of why we woman crave chocolate around “that time “. At one point I started craving pumpkin seeds during those times. Looked at the label and ding! Ding! Ding! High in magnesium. I still struggle with evening/late night cravings. If I finally cave I make sure I’m not going over my calories and make a healthy choice. I only WISH mine lasted 20 minutes. I’m doing ALL of the tricks - drink Water and wait, set my intentions, replace my unhealthy habit with a positive activity, journal, brush my teeth and go to bed. But the struggle is real and it’s A. Real. Bear 🐻 -
I’m a newbie too. I was sleeved in January but I think you’re awesome for being proactive and catching yourself before a little become a lot. I’m not sure how much you’re dealing with but my son is 2 years out from his surgery having lost over 320 lbs. He’s been at his goal for quite awhile but says he fluctuates up and down by 10 lbs. Not sure if that helps you or not but thought I’d throw it out there.

Thank you for this Sheri! I read too much on here that feels almost like fat shaming. That somehow what we’re experiencing is OUR fault and it just sounds too much like “eat this or do this and the weight will come off”. When all we’re looking for is a safe place to vent our frustration in our CURRENT position. It doesn’t mean I think I’m going to stay here forever. It’s just scary as all get out sometimes. I finally had to start thinking of it like childbirth and realize that the further some people are out from the surgery the less they remember the actual fear of the unknown and pain of the birth. They’re just happy with that baby! I like your therapist!!!

Almost 4 days post op

I’m so sorry you ended up in the ER but I hope the new meds bring you some relief. -
I’m so sorry Lex! You made such a courageous step in seeking help with your depression. That in combination with coming back here to seek advice shows you are being proactive. I agree, go easy on yourself mentally and give yourself time to grieve and heal. {{{hugs}}}

90 lbs is an amazing accomplishment and you should be so proud! I’m sorry you may be facing other medical issues and I truly hope it turns out to be something easily dealt with. I hear it said time after time that our surgeries are a tool. That’s how I have to look at it. A tool still requires work (labor) for it to produce any results. Best of luck with your upcoming test and as you continue on your journey 👍🏻

It has taken me awhile to learn my new stomach. I don’t ever feel full the way I used to like typical full feeling after say a holiday meal. I have all new triggers that let me know it’s time to stop and I’ve learned (the hard way 🤢) not to take one more bite. My head will still eye the food on my plate and want to finish it. For me I’ve had to realize satisfied is my new full
