28) biggest silver lining in a disappointment? Finding a new home. We spent our entire marriage in our first home. Over the years we tried many times to move but we could never agree, kids unwilling to change school districts, ya da, ya da, ya da. We loved our home and our neighbors but as our family grew to include grandchildren we were running out of space (literally !!) when we all gathered. Then after a whole series of events my mom came to live with us as well. I found a house I thought was not attainable for us but talked hubs into seeing it. After 34 years we’re living our dream!! We are so blessed I still can’t believe it’s ours. It’s so much more than I ever would’ve thought to ask for. That was last year. This year surgery. I truly feel my life is starting all over 😍

liquid diet after surgery
DanaC84 replied to RachaelLou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sucking ice chips immediately after and clear broths were part of my pre op and post op diet. But it goes without saying, check with your team if possible. Sugar free popsicles were also on my plan and felt so good -
Lost weight after plateau more than six months out?

You’re welcome. Forgot to say hairbrush but I’m a messy bun girl so 🤷🏼♀️ Post op ask for a couple of ice packs to lay on your sternum area and your belly button incision. It really helped me.

Yum!! (Love your Disney princess cup in the background) -
Congratulations!! I’m so happy for you. I wouldn’t over pack. I brought slippers but never used them (they put socks on me) . I stayed in my hospital gown til I went home. Bring super comfy, loose clothes for the ride home as well as a small pillow to hold against your tummy. Phone, charger, chapstick , toothbrush/toothpaste. Congratulations and best of luck! It will be here in no time 👍🏻

Congratulations!!! I wouldn’t be too concerned. You will most likely see another drop in a day or two . Best of luck on your upcoming surgery!!

Why No Drinking While Eating After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
DanaC84 replied to CJinMichigan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow!!! I just found this thread while searching on google for the reason “why” we shouldn’t drink with meals. SOLD!! Now I get it !!! Embedded link no longer works 🤔 https://youtu.be/xR0VM3mnsgM. You can fast forward like original poster suggests to 2:25 -

I imagine you’re in recovery right about now! Congratulations and take it easy this week. Ice chips are your friend today. I also asked for an ice pack (two actually) and laid them on my sternum and belly button . Felt great 👍🏻 -
Congrats!!!

I’m not sure if you’re on Pinterest but here’s a link to a page for bariatric purée stage recipes https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjbsdShsqLhAhWj44MKHUomDFgQzPwBegQIARAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinterest.com%2Ffoodcoachme%2Fbariatric-pureed-soft-recipes%2F&psig=AOvVaw3EMGyz8Nbj-ZhZuiBPu78u&ust=1553778541895784 A month is a long time but you can do this !! Believe it or not you will get to the point where you are not constantly thinking about food and start to use it for just what it’s intended for, actual fuel for our bodies. I TOTALLY get it . I really do! As well as I thought I was prepared for the battle of my head hunger , I wasn’t. Give yourself time to adjust and just take it one step at a time. Good luck and keep reaching out for support 👍🏻 -
What, you had NO surgery complications?
DanaC84 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’m just a little over two months out and I wouldn’t go back and do differently for all the money in the world. The pre op and first week post op were exactly what to be expected and what my surgeon prepared me for. I did have discomfort and nausea. Nothing unbearable and totally well managed with meds given by my surgeon. Expect a week of adjustment, follow YOUR surgeons plan. If you feel you haven’t received enough pre op info from your dr ASK!! A forum is NOT the place to get medical advice. Support and encouragement, absolutely. Good luck and if you decide to move forward know that the odds are in your favor and cold feet, second guessing are all part of the process 👍🏻💪🏻🙌🏻 -
26) sorry if this offends anyone but my faith. I KNOW I’m not powerful on my own

I am the exact same way! I loved it my two first weeks post op. My DIL would tell be how much she hates them now (also had wls) and I thought , “huh ?” NOW I get it. I’ll have to try adding water to it because I still have a case in my fridge. *** It REALLY was a life saver the first two weeks. I think my taste buds changed***

It sucks. Believe me, I know! I lost nothing the first few weeks. I came home from the hospital 12 lbs heavier from the IV’s and gases. That scale did not budge and I was following my plan to a “T”. I saw another poster say about 7 weeks the scale started moving for them. Right around the same timeframe the same thing happened for me. For the first time since surgery I was seeing a lb a day sometimes. Trust you made the right decision, realize you’re in it for the long haul, work your plan and give your body time to heal. It won’t betray you

Horrible dumping which wasn’t just contained to after meals, pain and discomfort around my sternum and ribs. The slightest amount of fats would make me ball up and usually result in being physically sick. So much so that to this day those commercials on tv of hamburgers dripping with grease make me gag. It took me a good 6 months before I started feeling myself again.
