It's normal, I had my surgery on the April 29th. Yesterday I was at 216 and today I am at 214 a total of 30 lbs since surgery and (46 lbs overall). My doctor and dietitian said my rate is above expectation. Don't compare yourself to others. There are times when I am at the same weight for couple of days and then I see a 2 lb drop on the scale.

April 2019 Surgeries!
SusieQ2019 replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Quick update . I had my 2nd appointment since my surgery on April 29th and I am down 28 lbs since surgery and 44 overall. My doctor and dietitian said everything is going well and cleared me for all food and weight training. I have been spinning 2-3 days a week and on other days I do the treadmill and elliptical machine. I will begin exercising with weights this week. Food wise I get in at least 53 grams of protein ( but need to increase to at least 60 grams) and 48-64 oz of water depending on my day. My next appointment is at the end of July and my goal is to be below 200 by then. I hope all of my April buddies are doing well and wishing everyone the best of health. Surgery date 4/29/19. Starting weight 260 lbs Surgery Weight 244 lbs Current weight-216 lbs -

Did you say cheese balls. Oh how I loved me some cheese balls before I had my surgery. Hang in there you can do it. Don't give in.

First I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with your surgery. Can you provide a little more detailed on the back end of your story. How long has it been since you've had your surgery. What type of surgery, how much have you gain back etc. Most people who have gained weight do a pouch reset, by going back to the basic post op diet.

My plan includes a protein shake on the puree and soft food stages. I drink one in between meals or for breakfast. It is a backup during the weekends when I am busy.

Struggling with support system at home.
SusieQ2019 replied to TravMac's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't don't have that issue because I plan all the meals at home. I cook the things my family enjoy while sticking to my doctors bariatic plan. There are people who will support and others who don't have your best interest at heart. Stay the course even if you have to stop socializing with those who intend on sabotaging your health. Do not give them that power or control. Speak to your psychologist and be honest. -
How much excercise after surgery?
SusieQ2019 replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walking for now at your own pace. I started to walk on the treadmill one week after surgery for 30-40 mins. I tried the elliptical at 2 weeks out but did not have the strength and stuck to the treadmill. I am 6 weeks out and started spinning 2 weeks ago and the elliptical machine is a breeze. I am waiting for clearance for weights next week once I see my medical team on Wednesday. Congratulations and good luck. -
Building muscle is a good thing. My doctor was thrilled to hear that I was back at the gym. I've always exercise before surgery, spinning, hot yoga, yoga, weigh training aerobic etc. and was glad when I was able to. I would rely on my medical team for these type of advice.

My process begins...for gastric sleeve
SusieQ2019 replied to Chardonnay40's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations, you have made a good decision. Getting the sleeve is one of the best decision I've made in my life and wish I'd done it sooner. My advise to you is to follow your doctors instructions and once you do you will love this tool. Wishing you good luck. -
I have not told anyone on the job, but they are amazed at how much weight I've lost. The good news is that I've always dieted so I just tell them I finally found a diet that works, lol... But honestly we do not need to explain our medical decisions with anyone.

Sore after surgery
SusieQ2019 replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on a successful surgery. My doctor told me that after surgery my throat might be sore from the breathing tube and instrument they inserted during surgery. I also had on a leg compressor, if you did that could be the cause of your soreness in your calves. -
One of my favorite is tomato feta soup. If you do a google search you will find a lot of different variation of recipes. I also like the ricotta bake from the baritastic app. You can also search for split peas soup they are delicious.

Exercise 4 months after mini sleeve
SusieQ2019 replied to EMARSA1028's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My weight continues to drop after I started working out. The weight gain could be muscles which in turn will lead to more weight loss and a leaner look. -
I am 49 years old and my dietitian told me it's from hormonal changes. I am getting a lot, they are popping up by my hairline, lips, eyebrows pretty much all over my face and they hurt when I touch them.
-
I would prefer to get most of my carbs from vegetables.
-
Stay the course and stick to the plan. It will be difficult at first but remember you are one step closer to surgery day. Good luck.
-
I am glad that you are doing well and you are here to share your experience to others. This will be helpful to others who seek other option in the absent of insurance coverage. Best wishes!

That is a high amount of carbs. The max for me is 5g like GreenTealael.

Feeling "weepy" & sad
SusieQ2019 replied to Cameo325's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like your hormones are readjusting and could be normal. Check in with your psychiatrist as she might be best to assess what you are going through. Wishing you the best. -
Exercise 4 months after mini sleeve
SusieQ2019 replied to EMARSA1028's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started walking on the treadmill one week after surgery. I am now in my 3rd week of spinning and had a spin class on Sunday that used weight so I used two 5lbs. I am waiting to get clearance for all other when I see my surgeon on the 19th. Surgery date 4/29/19 -

Packing a bag for the hospital
SusieQ2019 replied to onepreciousk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took the basic, toiletries, charger and change of clothes. I took gas X strips but never used them since I had no discomfort from gas like a lot of people mentioned here. Some people wear the same clothes home. For the most part I was in and out of sleep after the surgery.
