Weight gain during 6 month pre-op period
SusieQ2019 replied to DanieHall's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna and I read somewhere here that they denied some who gained weight. My doctor did not say anything about loosing but the nurse was happy that I lost 1lb in my last vist but so far I've lost 5lbs. My insurance ask for 4 doctors visit and 3 nutritionist visit. I am keeping it on the safe side to at least loose a few lbs. Check with your surgeon to be sure. -
I am sorry to hear that you are still not 100%. Gallbladder issues can be painful. I had my gallbladder removed 7yrs ago and the procedure was very simple. I spent a night in the hospital and never took the pain medicine they prescribed. good luck and feel better soon.

Time goes by so slow
SusieQ2019 replied to robynsch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At times its seems like it is taking a long time for me to, but for every approval I get more excited. I started in October and I was scheduling appointments in December. I had to take a deep breath because it was becoming overwhelming. I spread the rest of my appointments through March and hopefully I will be getting an April date or early May. I am glad that it will be done before summer because I cant wait to become a healthier and more fabulous me. Wishing you the best. -
Keep up the great work!!

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. I am sure your mom is a great inspiration for you and many. Tomorrow I have my my last physiatrist appointment. He recommended physical therapy but I only went to two secessions since I don't think I needed it. Instead I've been going to the gym 3 times a week. -
Is there anything you wish you'd been told pre-op?
SusieQ2019 replied to Pippa1703's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I watched a couple episodes of botched last week and it's like nothing I've seen. Unbelievable stories. I am hoping not to have have to much loose skin. I've always wear body shapers so I will continue to wear them to smooth things out. -

Romano how are your moms doing, 2001and 2002 is a long time. I know my sister and her friend had it in the 1990s and they are doing great. Coffee is one of those beverages I can live without, but they make a great body scrub. Lol -
what's the worse things about bypass
SusieQ2019 replied to BucksMum99's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
First let me say I wish you good luck on any procedure you choose to do. After careful consideration and many research, I am leaning towards the bypass. ( I need to talk with my doctor about my decision). From what I've read on here and my online research they both are beneficial and they both have pros and cons. For me the reason I am leaning towards the bypass is that based on what I have read from my own research and **this is my opinion ***I found many people are either regaining some of their weight or have stalled. I also understand that it is a tool and some may not follow it to the letter causing regain or stalled weight loss. The sleeve is also a big procedure as it includes removing at least 80% of ones stomach. The good thing is that this forum is available with loads of information and many people experiences from both surgeries that can be a teachable opportunity and I am grateful for that. -

Hopefully you can stop soon, so you don't go through withdrawal after the surgery. Also from what I read some doctors asked not to drink coffee. -

Glad it went well and startng to sample shakes is a good idea. I haven't tried any of the protein shakes yet, but my next trip to BJ'S I will pick some up. I only like chocolate flavors. In the meantime I've given up sweets, coffee and snacks and I eat a lot of yogurts. -

April 2019 Surgeries!
SusieQ2019 replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said not every doctor test for it but the bariatric center at mount Sinai NYC where I will be having my surgery do. It is part of the endoscopy procedure. He said they do it because they do not want any suprises during the surgery. Apparently it's a very common bacteria. During my procedure they took a piece of specimen and sent it to the lab and mine came back positive for the bacteria. -

April 2019 Surgeries!
SusieQ2019 replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The medication was for 14 days and I had to submit the stool around the 5th week. The nurse called me about one week later to tell me that the results came back negative I did not have any of the symptoms. The good thing with this weightloss surgery experience is the indept medical workup that is being done. I always get my regular checkup but not to this level. You cannot drink any liquor while taking the medication and the nurse told me to take exactly as prescribed. Wishing you good luck. -
