Can I drink diet soda on my pre op liquid diet
SusieQ2019 replied to Jezzabelle360's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
On my first meeting with my dietitian she told me that after surgery sodas are not permitted, because of the empty calories and sugar even, seltzer water and the no calorie beverage should be off limit. They cause gas, bloating and risk of acid reflux. -
April 2019 Surgeries!
SusieQ2019 replied to CajunSam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In 2008 I went down to 180lbs, from a supervised weight diet. In 2010 I give birth and went up to around 250lb. The lowest I've been since was 222. At 260lb I went to a bariatric session in October last year. I am really looking forward to this surgery -
I am going in for cardiologist clearance on March 13th. I already saw the results but I still need to see her so that she can go over the results with me. I see my surgeon on the 20th and may get a date for April 23rd.

You can always say you have changed the way you eat. Plus you can take a doggie bag home. I told my best friend that I was having surgery and I felt she was a little judgemental. I said to myself whatever. It's funny because she has never been skinny ever and I only started having weight issues after having children. You have to live your best health for you.

Definitely something to be excited about. The beginning of healthier you.

oh wow what an accomplishment. I am sure your success will help to motivate many of us here. I can't wait to get my surgery date in April.

I have severe high blood pressure issues for the past few years and I am always on blood pressure medication. These are guidlines: Efforts to lose weight with diet and exercise have been unsuccessful Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or higher Your BMI is 35 or more and you have a serious weight-related health problem, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or severe sleep apnea You should be ok. All the best! -
Congratulations!

Agree with you @GradyCat some people may not use it for anything. I think if you already owned one of these things it's a plus. I love smoothies and make them a lot. Otherwise I'd have to spend $10-$12.00 a day on smoothies and the prices are even higher when you start to add protein to the shake. I find a lot of the smoothies places in the NYC add orange juice/apple juice for the base liquid while, I add water and plain yogurt and sometimes almond butter. The fruits are already sweet on their own.

I have the nutribullet and I like it very much for my smoothies. I've been using it for 2 years now with no problem. It was actually an upgrade to a faster speed from another one I had. I had a Ninja blender and did not like it.

Mount Sinai hospital in NYC where I will be doing my surgery do not do the Lap-band,Lenox hospital as well. But it is ultimately your decision. All surgeries come with risks, but from my research and reading on this forum there seems to be people who has have quite a few issues along with slow weight loss and regain. Wishing you the best on which everyone you choose.

Welcome and congratulation. I am sure you will loose the preop weight. My insurance has no minimum but definitely did not want to gain any weight during the preop and I've lost 6 lbs so far. According to my surgeon's office I will need to do a 2 week liquid diet before the surgery. I think what has helped with the 6 lbs weight lost is because I stopped eating anything with sugar, coffee, and salty snacks plus 3 days at the gym. Good luck to you!

Whats short of time frame
SusieQ2019 replied to sassskin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my preop in October but I stretch out my appointments out. My insurance requires 4 consecutive visit with the surgeon or 6 visits with PCP (I choose the 4 visit with surgeon) in addition 3 consecutive visit with dietitian. Plus the other requirements for the surgery, sleep study, endoscopy, cardiology, Psychology, physiatrist and letter from PCP. I started eating better about one month ago, no, sugar, coffee, or salty food. I am on BP medication and since I cut out the junk my pressure reads normal for the first time in 5 months. I will have a surgery date in 2 weeks. Good luck to you. -

Worried about getting out of chair Post-Op
SusieQ2019 replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every time I climb into my high bed, I wonder if I would have problems getting in and out after my surgery. I think I will stay in one of my kids room should I experience any issues. -

I am making sure that laundry is done as that will be the most difficult task for me. I may need to switch bedroom with one of my kids since my bed is super high as it might be difficult getting in and out. Anyone else had that issue. -
Renewing US passport ahead of schedule?
SusieQ2019 replied to AEdoesRnY's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's for sure GreenTealael. I was so happy with my passport picture, but my college realized that my place of birth was incorrect(naturalized citizen here). Never mind that I had already made 2 international trips on my passport. -
Renewing US passport ahead of schedule?
SusieQ2019 replied to AEdoesRnY's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was thinking on updating my passport after I loose a significant amount of weight. More on the vanity side ( lol) but I can see how it can be an issue when traveling abroad if your passport picture does represent the way one look today.
