February 2019 weight loss buds
Everything replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I go to Costco about once a month and I usually grab some snacks. These are their prepared meal items. If you avoid the corn tortillas this is an awesome little go to. I also grab the shrimp salad as is one of my favorites. Low carb high protein choices ! -

I guess my last comment is this. In addition to all the other stuff you go through with weight loss surgery I am on a pretty heavy diet of pills from a back injury I sustained. So I take opioids, muscle relaxers and various other non-NSAID pills. They upset my stomach and give me nausea further reducing my will or interest in eating. I think some of the weight loss I have experience as a result of the pills I’ve taken. It has been a very rough experience dealing with both pain, headaches, and healing from the weight-loss surgery. -

OK just kidding scale just read 113. I really don’t want to gain any more than that! I feel my period coming on so hopefully that is where that is coming from. Probably need to tighten up on the eating regime at this point. I am just eating haphazardly.... The restriction has been so great that I have struggled to eat at times. I also seem to be dehydrated. -

If you are losing 2 to 3 pounds a week you are definitely losing much much quicker than I am. I may be losing a half a pound a week some weeks nothing some weeks 1 pound. The last time I weighed I was at 109 but yesterday I weighed 112. Hoping it was a scale misread because the batteries fell out of the scale and for some reason it always reads high when I change the batteries.... Either way I’m cool with 100, 109, 112. I’m happy with the way I look right now. I guess I could continue to lose which would be OK too. I believe my BMI is 21 right now. Oh and I guess I’m a late bloomer because my hair is falling out falling out falling out now. I am scared to wash it or touch it. No visible bald spots just thinning all over. -

WOW! That’s extreme behavior! I’ve had comments, but nothing like that. I’m sorry but you “friend” doesn’t seem to be very considerate- that’s downright RUDE. Good for you going to the hotel! What’s this persons deal??? -

By The way - I got that elliptical machine in the picture for free! My neighbor gave it away and it still had the protective plastic over the display. I got on it once and it kicked my butt! It is hard-core. The last few weeks kind of freaked me out as I got thinner and thinner so I was almost afraid to add cardio. I’m still carrying some weight around my waist that is probably unhealthy (see rolls in pic!). I think it’s time to work out!! -

Well congratulations to everybody! On the progress!! Interesting comment about picking up weight equivalent to your lost body fat. I am now 50 pounds down and couldn’t imagine picking it up. I am actually forbidden by my doctor to lift - and to think, I was carrying around that much weight. My hip pain is gone in my ankle pain- GONE. The epidurals I’ve been getting on my back for working and I feel good for the first time since the accident that started all this. This is the first morning I have not woken up and taken an opioid to get started. My motivation for doing this was primarily related to aches and pains and back pains I was having. So while I got “skinny” a little faster, the real goal - pain relief, just hit!!! I will say I would categorize myself as “skinny fat” now. I’m 5’-0” tall and clocking in around 110-111. I did not work out during my losing streak and now I feel like I have lost a lot of muscle mass. My husband says my legs are getting too skinny! (He likes muscular legs on women) My thighs don’t even touch when I walk now! I’m going to add some weight training to try to get some muscle tone going. I’m also been working hard on vitamins, calcium and water. Time to fine tune my “sexy” new bod! Haha! -

That’s me now - my stomach. I can’t even enjoy my weight loss because I can’t stop focusing on the one imperfect thing. Lumpy, scars.... Only time will tell what more weight loss makes it look like. I’ve never been able to show my stomach my entire life and I was really looking forward to it.... -

Like everyone else posted, I'm eating more too. And this post from Frou Frou - is so precise. I felt good about myself -really, really good... then I adjusted, now I feel "fat" again. How the hell could I feel fat when I'm smaller than I was in high school!?! There is some psychology going on here that I don't understand. I will say, during the "really really" good phase that I bought a bunch of bikinis. I was strutting around all over the place and even took some pictures. Well, that did it really. I saw the pictures. In my head I looked better. The restriction is still working for me. I was on vacation from Thurs-Monday. I lost a pound. But it was an active vacation - boating, walking, swimming... I can eat larger portions now, I am eating like 1/2 a hotdog, 1/2 a taco... and last night I ate 3 triscuits with easy cheese IN BED (gross). But I only ate 3. Meals I'm still eating 80/20 (80 being whatever sounds good/20 being lean meats and veggies). Weight loss has slowed, but I do feel better overall. Also the epidurals in my back have been alleviating my pain so I'm moving around more these days. Overall better here.... -
Restaurant discounts with our weight-loss card
Everything posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It came to my attention today that the card that my doctor provided post-surgery is good at some restaurants for discounted meals. Participating restaurants will also allow the server to sell children’s menu items to card-holders. I was totally unaware of this until today and wondered what experiences others may have to share. A quick Google search showed me that red lobster and Olive Garden participate in this program. The OP whom I read this from said she used it at Fogo de Chow To get half price meal ($25 as a post to $50) by providing proof of bariatric surgery. If you are aware of any other national chain restaurants (or Florida restaurants, in my case !) that honor the bariatric card and offer a reduced cost meals, would you mind sharing in the comments? Thank you!! -

Frou Frou... maybe??? I wouldn’t say sabotage. I weighed 113.4 pounds this morning. I am thinner than I’ve ever been and it is freaking me out. I am trying to increase calories to slow the weight loss. Now that I’m closing in on 100 pounds it is starting to really unnerve me. I spent today going through my closet and setting up a box of donation items. My “goal” jeans from three years ago (size 9) are now in that box - they were hanging off of me when I tried them on today. This is a huge adjustment I didn’t expect to go through. I was majorly craving sweets when I did the shopping trip but since then I had one small bowl of ice cream. Done and done. Doesn’t really even sound that good. I have had three salads and one bowl of ice cream from that shopping trip. Go figure. Wait... what the hell am I complaining about?!? I guess the better question is why am I not embracing this? -

I made a grocery store run and kind of just bought whatever looked good to me. I bought more sweets than I’ve bought in my entire life. Do you think that means anything? I have never been a sweet person. But I bought a gallon of ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, two pies, and the ingredients to make pineapple upside down cake. I also bought a ton of fruits and vegetables and meat. Strange that I am now craving sweets. Hopefully it will pass -
OK guys maybe I’m just pessimistic (I stress maybe) but am I the only one who has found this surgery to be a complete B*TCH?!

Good point. I typically consider myself high tolerance. I’ll write off all of my pain as over exaggeration. When I was pregnant with twins I was feeling what I thought were false alarms. My friend forced me to go to the ER as a precautionary measure and I was 8 cm dilated, had to be life flighted to another state for delivery with emergency C-section. My babies were hospitalized for two months in the NICU. The next time it happened I had pain below my ribs. Again, I told myself I was over exaggerating. When I eventually got to the emergency room I had a blockage and gallbladder removal. I had emergency surgery and was hospitalized for eight days. I now live with chronic back pain. I often wonder if I am under-exaggerating the pain I have. But I have learned to find my voice and speak up now. It was almost like I was scared to complain or bother anyone. It took two life lessons and almost endangering my children’s lives to learn to advocate for myself. If you are in pain — speak up! No one knows your body but you can. Don’t let anybody tell you you don’t feel the way you feel. -

Snacking is the only thing keeping me alive!! I feel dehydrated and malnourished lately. I’ve been working hard today to get vitamins, protein and water. I dry heaved like mad after the vitamins, but I kept them down. I can barely eat most days, Then, randomly, I will eat like eight chicken nuggets in a period of two hours. It is the most random unpredictable thing ever! I snack to live!! -

I love the positive attitude! And I know how hot it is in Arizona! I moved Florida in 2018. But it feels good to have some of that weight of your hair off!
