What I've Learned Four Years In
Sophie921 replied to Danpaul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 3 years postop and did amazingly well, 100+ lbs. However, the magic is long gone and it is a daily struggle. I have gained 30 lbs back sitting on my backside due to Covid, health and family issues. However, every day I get up and try to do something different. I appreciate all of the responses and stories that I have read from each of you and feel that I can continue to fight the good fight. I never want to be back where I was prior to the surgery with all of the things each and every one of us goes through on our postop journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I wish every one of you the best on your journey. -

Four days post surgery, question on stomach gurgling

That is a good way to put it and makes me smile. Thanks for sharing. -
Psychological roller coaster
Sophie921 replied to Coexister's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, it is sort of like a broken record. All of my physicians have been using the words amazing, excited, wonderful and how much better you feel, your numbers are looking great, you will have more..... Unfortunately, none of those words adequately describe what it really feels like and how I feel now. What I feel is more like a boat at sea, some days more calm than others. I am sailing towards my new normal and new clothes, makeup, shopping, are not a major factor in that. I have met my goal of getting off insulin, but the diabetes, hypertension, chronic pain, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis are still there. I also will need more procedures in the future, but if I can be more than the status quo it will all be worth it. -
Any seniors over 65 sleevers ?
Sophie921 replied to Diana1952's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
61 and had sleeve September 2018. I was up the day of the surgery and drove from Las Vegas to Phoenix 5 days later because I was told I could not fly postop. Biggest problem has been irritability and anger issues, but I am getting better with self control. -
Psychological roller coaster

I had sleeving in September 2018 and since then I have been like a simmering volcano with a few major eruptions. My coach and nutritionist have advised that this is a process, but no one has explained to the degree that these posts have. My patience which was legendary before has been absent since and my family has been hunkered down sibnce I take no prisoners these days. When I feel irritable, I go in my room and iron which seems to be therapeutic. The irritability and anger are something that I am very concerned about and I am thankful I have found this forum where others have expressed similar feelings. -
Four days post surgery, question on stomach gurgling

I still get stomach gurgling since sleeve in September. It is a running joke in my house. -
How do you end a stall?
Sophie921 replied to amy6152's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had starts and stops since my sleeve in September. I tend to hold fluid better than a camel in the Sahara and my body is desperate to get a set point to which it clings tenaciously. However, I do keep an intake journal and know that this it will resume its downward trend with a little help. I find that if I have hit a stall, that eating well one day and less the next avoiding sodium will cause it to begin losing again.
