@Frustr8, I actually feel like I had the opposite experience... not that the nutritionist doesn’t say don’t eat greens but mine puts a heavy focus on chicken/fish and the greens kinda fall into place after that. I have very little salads nowadays... mostly focus on some form of steamed veggies :) but meat at every meal, including often at bfast/snack :)

Sick during surgery
voyagerslug replied to VeeAurora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So i was in this situation actually except I had a terrible ear infection with a cold that left a residual bad cough. The surgeon almost didnt perform the surgery because they were concerned about my lung congestion with the anesthesia. They did it though. It was a HUGE pain every time i had to cough after surgery though , which was frequent sadly. I got through it. It wasnt the most pleasant experience but I had planned for months around this surgery and rescheduling was going to be a nightmare :( -
@semaj80, so as someone with diagnosed anxiety, there is nothing that completely satisfied me so I wouldnt have surgery anxiety. I just meditated and tried not to overthink it. I guess it depends on what you have anxiety about? Im about 4.5 months put and very happy with my decision. It doesnt mean that there arent times when I wonder if I made the right decision (because I definitely wonder that) but it does me that on balance I feel great. It is a constant struggle but a much better struggle than when I had all the weight.

Sexual stamina
voyagerslug replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha not crude ... Ive lost almost 100 and was 313 and am about to turn 35. I think both libido and stamina are improved. Ive read some people describe it as like when you’re a teenager- I definitely wouldn’t say that but it has improved... especially flexibility and movement haha -
I was the same way (vsg on 1/18) ... I even almost fainted several times when I started with the trainer. Now I literally get up an hour early to have a protein shake before I work out to make sure I have the fuel I need. It has gotten way better now at 3+ months out ... i do hiit, which i had never done before. I agree that the lack of carbs is a problem for working out so early on.

Why do “you people” care about anyone else? Maybe you should focus on yourself and stop wasting energy on other people. Seriously, why would you feel the need to purposefully go into this particular thread and then write a negative comment?

Why can’t we have caffeine during preop diet?
voyagerslug replied to Friday205's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I literally just had the same question and I have no idea. I didn’t question it and just followed the instructions. Im fairly young (35) and thought that since i hope to have many years left with this stomach I would just abstain for three months and go back once i can ... and i soooooo enjoyed the coffee i had yesterday, my first cup since December (i quit early because i had a string of awful infections before surgery and resorted to having hot toddies instead of coffee haha) -
Why can’t we have caffeine during preop diet?
voyagerslug replied to Friday205's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drank coffee every day for many years. Before I had surgery (vsg), my surgeon said I only needed to refrain for three months after surgery. He also said that it was wise to quit at least a week before surgery so withdrawal would be done by surgery time, saying, “do you really want to recover from surgery and be sealing with caffeine withdrawal headaches?” I took his advice and am so glad i didnt deal with that after surgery. Sadly i used to drink it so much that i would get a caffeine withdrawal headache even if i missed one day of coffee :(. You cam do it! Im past my three months and had coffee finally yesterday (was afraid itd give me the runs) ... those three months went by quick! -

Pre op IV question!
voyagerslug replied to NoNonSense89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an awful experience where they tried eight times to get the iv in and finally got it in on the ninth try ... several of those tries left bruises worse than that :( they lasted about four and a half weeks :( not pretty but they went away eventually. It should be getting better though. Have you met with the surgeon? -
Im with summerset ... i don’t get why so many people fee the need to lie about having surgery. Who cares if you hd surgery to lose weight? It makes me think that part if the stigma is self imposed. If we treat surgery like it is taboo or worth hiding then isnt it always going to continue being thought of by others that way?

I was the same way and it happened so fast once i got to the hospital

Im like 5.5 weeks out from vsg and literally just yesterday spoke with my nutritionist about this same issue. In my case, she instructed me to add more carbs (i am having almost no carbs) through some fruit (about 1/3 - 1/2 cup) per day. Im still only getting about 80g of protein per day so I can’t even imagine 236 grams (my cw).

This is literally how my first personal training session was a week ago except i almost fainted ... twice haha loving that the trainer pushes me to work through my fear /insecurity with using free weights though

January surgeries?!
voyagerslug replied to jessicaalyssa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my surgery yesterday... definitely not what I expected. It took eight tries to get a stable IV and I literally almost walked out right then and there. I was walking about three hours after surgery and walked about every hour. Haven’t really felt much gas except before I started walking but have quite a bit of pain in my abdomen where the stomach was removed. I swear I feel sooo hungry. I don’t have a desire to eat cause of the pain but I definitely feel like my stomach burns, almost like the feeling when you haven’t eaten anything in a while , but way worse. Hopefully it’ll go away soon :) -
January surgeries?!
voyagerslug replied to jessicaalyssa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Frustr8, Sleeve. I actually couldn’t really decide so I just let the surgeon decide. Honestly, I have such a busy work life that I feel like I haven’t really researched very much . Will update as I love seeing other people’s stories as well :) Im doing mine at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. -

First time poster, long time reader :) scheduled for tomorrow and, although I wasn’t nervous, just got a call from the surgeon asking to move up my surgery three hours and all of a sudden Im all nervous! Not worried about being under just the pain afterwards ... wish everyone the best of luck :)
