    Non Scale Victories

    Don’t have my date scheduled for my surgery yet but I have lost 43 lbs pre surgery feeling great about that. Today I took my first ((HOT)) shower without my bench buddy. Huge accomplishment for me as I have for years had problems with my blood pressure in the shower go up and me pass out. So I didn’t need the bench nor the cold water. Feels great to be normal again!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗

    ❤ APRIL 2019 CHALLENGE❤

    Im in sorry coming in late on the 11 th of the month, just seen this. SW 296 CW 264 GW 140 Told today I have 4 more months till surgery will be scheduled. Wanting Bypass but Dr thinks I might have to have sleeve because I have a lot of scar tissue from previous surgeries😕 I’m walking 7,500-10,000 steps every day and working out with my hand weights and riding my stationary bike 5x a week. I’m determined to get this weight off so I can ride my horses again, my right knee that I have had a lot of problems with already is ( starting ) to feel better. Maybe I won’t need a knee replacement after all🤔
  3. Thank you and yes these eyes are definitely wide open now and learning a lot. I appreciate everyone’s advise and support, and can find thru their experiences very wise paths that leads to roads to follow.

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

    That’s what I’m trying to stay away from is the opinionated comments. To many times people jump to conclusions before educating themselves and assume things that aren’t true. I know people talk and it could possibly get out their but for now that is only my immediate family I’ve got 3 people to point a finger at if it gets out. Those 3 people also see how hard I’m working on this also and what I’m sacrificing and what their sacrificing by me being the main cook in the family, so they best be sweet and never criticize their “Momma” if they plan on getting fed. Lol
  5. I have always avoided having my picture taken, knowing that I’m overweight ok obese, and not feeling good about my appearance. What is strange tho is I have never felt fat, I know that doesn’t make a lot of sense but I guess what I’m saying is I remember the slimmer me WELL and that’s what I imagine only with a lot of stuff weighing me down and making me tired all the time. When I started this journey ( Jan 1st) I allowed my daughter to take before pictures of me. I was shocked and at my next month ( feb) after losing 18 lbs I was even more shocked when I got even a better look at the fat on my arms in that months weights loss pics . When did this happen to me???? I look like the marshmallow man in ghostbusters no joke. What a huge wake up call, only I’ve been like this for years and avoiding the camera, I guess not caring to know. I’m now disgusted with myself for letting it get like this. Needless to say the barbells are out and toning has begun I may not get back to the beautiful arms I use to have but this is unacceptable and has got to go. No longer avoiding the camera, that camera and pics will tell my story of my journey. I feel like I just woke up😳

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

    That’s something I was curious about is how many of you revealed your surgery. As of right now only my immediate family knows that I will be having it. I don’t have a lot of friends and I haven’t told my sisters or brother yet as I don’t want to worry them. I’ve had a lot of health issues so I figured this is my chance to get them under control. I’m a very private person and don’t socialize much so I’m sure it’s gonna be a shock to some afterwards.
  7. Yep that’s my struggle as well, I too have a choking reflex if I don’t have something to wash it down with I’ll start choking on it. I guess I’ll just keep practicing. My husband better get better at the heimlick maneuver. Lol
  8. Yes that’s what I’m finding and have been doing. My family enjoys meat and potatoes and the typical pizza and junk fried appetizer type foods that aren’t good for you. I’ve always been a fruit and veggie person and my kids have grown up that way too but now that their older they find it easier to eat that junk food even tho they come home often for me to make them my home cooking good meals. I love to cook and will gladly do it, I love to try new things as well. My husband is the biggest obstacle that and me getting all the protein 80gr they want me to get a day but I have finally figured that out with the protein drinks. I’m not much of a meat eater except for seafood I love shrimp and salmon so I do eat those often, but I can’t stand the smell of hamburger cooking, I get very nauseous so I stay away from it.
  9. Ah ok I just need to get this concept of slowing down. Making separate meals for my family too always seems to rush me some times and I feel overwhelmed and guessing how I’m ever gonna handle doing it once I end up having the surgery when I’m finding difficulties doing it now.
  10. That’s actually one of the first things they did with me as well, even tho my family dr who I see regularly for other health reasons keeps up on this. My vitamin D and B 12 and potassium always are super low so I have to take a lot of additional. Altered Reality Is there a certain time you find you need to take your vitamins when you are so limited on your intake of food for your pouch? I’m having a lot of difficulty myself just with the 30/30/30 I’ve alway drank water with my food and washed everything down. I feel like I’m choking on things without it even tho I chew and chew and chew. This is a huge struggle for me. I’m great with my water intake I consume 128+ oz a day take in consideration that I’m on a lot of diuretics for fluid on the brain, that needs removed. Just curious how do you get all your water food and vitamins in with such a lil pouch time wise? How much water do you consume also?
  11. Congratulations that is Outstanding, Your where I want to get to eventually. I am just beginning this road starting out at 296 I’ve lost 23 lbs Cw is 273 and going thru the 6 month process before RNY surgery hopefully in June / July.     Looking for a surgery buddy;

    Ps here in Indiana I was raised to warm up with a cube of chicken bouillon and a cup of hot boiling water, on those freezing cold winter days. Probably why we all have high blood pressure up north. 😥😩

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

    Oh that’s great I’m happy for you both, I wish my mother wouldn’t have been so afraid of surgery she would most likely still be alive today. She was always afraid yet was always there for me when disaster would happen. Most of my scar tissue is from a ovarian cyst that burst and took my right ovary I guess it did a lot of damage. I was only 17 at the time so I have lived with this scar tissue for quite some time and it bothers me every time they tell me it’s there. My son and I bought regular bikes about 3-4 yrs ago unfortunately that’s when my knee went bad and my bike got parked. If my stationary bike gets me in shape to where it’s safe for me to travel safely on the regular one come spring I’ll do it. I’ll have to add that to my GOAL CALENDAR. The groundhog is predicting an early spring I sure hope he’s right, it was almost 60* yesterday here raining all day but today it’s 10* and windy and freezing . Indiana weather is crazy!!!! Coat on coat off LOL I love to go to our fairgrounds to walk and take Jalapeño that’s where my daughter showed him in 4-H and both my son and daughter were members in the Horse and pony club as well. Eggs and the lil tomatoes are great I too always have them on hand. I also keep the mozzarella string cheese , cucumber slices and pickles on hand in case I don’t get those calories. And need something to dip I use my Olive Garden dressing only a couple drops tho. Or cottage cheese for dip.. I do track my sodium and can’t go over 2300 mg so pickles are limited I’ understand there’s gonna come a time we will need to drink a lot of broth which is ok with me as I have always loved chicken broth but I’ve only had it loaded with salt like Mrs grasses soup if you’ve ever had it. So this week I’m gonna Buy a broth that has no salt that I found and see how it tastes. I figure I better see what I’m getting into. LOL who knows I might like it. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

    Had a fairly good day today pretty windy and cold up here in Indiana but I still got that 1/2 hr walk in without my partner. Couldn’t bare to see Jalapeño my chihuahua suffer in the cold walking so I left him at home which broke my heart but he did cheer me on from our big window. Planning on getting my stationary bike next week now that I know my right knee will take all of this. It’s holding up to the walking well. Today I definitely was hungrier than I have ever been since I started since the first of the year. Has anyone found a go to food when this happens??? Mine is cocktail shrimp, I’ve learned to enjoy them with no sauce, it doesn’t take very many to take that hunger and just chewing it satisfy eating. I know my dietician encouraged not to snack. But when hunger pings and the thought of a food disaster might happen she did think it was smart of me to have my go to shrimp on hand. Let me know what your go tos our I’m interested??? I have others but I usually use them as add ons to my meals when I don’t even come close to my 1000 calories let alone 1200 that I’m suppose to be eating. Danielle did you decide on which surgery your having, I’m leaning toward RNY but open to sleeve. I have quite a bit of scar tissue from a past surgery and they told me they would be able to remove it while they are in there doing the RNY so I really want that scar tissue out , I also have a line that runs to my stomach from a VP shunt so not quite sure how all this is gonna work , still have to go over that with the surgeon but hopefully everything will work out and my shunt won’t be effected. My shunt goes to my brain and it removes fluid from my brain. A condition I’ve had for about 25 yrs now. But I’ve only had my shunt for about 4 yrs. well let me know what your go to food is ?? Chat with you all tomorrow. Best wishes!! Jennifer

    Looking for a surgery buddy;

    Hello Danielle, I too am a newbie too, I’ve had my labs and went to my conference meeting and my first Dr. appointment. Dietician, and Appmt with the nurse. My next appmt is scheduled for feb 25 and I am excited and full of questions, and have a notebook with lists to address. I suggest you do the same. Do you journal your food intake? I journal everything and I have found some really cool APPS on my iPhone that help me there this journey. I would love to help you and be- friend you as I could use a great buddy as well. Right now my chihuahua who is really SOLID is doing the best he can to help out. LOL !!! He goes on the 1/2 hr walks with me in hopes he too becomes less SOLID and leaner. He’s a great champ and understands me but his lil legs do get tired so he needs to rest, and I meantime need encouragement at times to keep going as my family loves to eat the junk in front of me that I no longer can have. I will say since the beginning of this year I have had a lot of fun cooking new things all over again something I’ve gotten away from in our busy life styles. I’m learning a lot about nutrition and what is good and bad and I’ve also found that your taste buds do change after you go without eating certain foods after a while. You also desire certain foods more as well. As far as my surgery future I expect to have my surgery in June or July it’s not determined yet. My surgeon requires 6 months of a process time to make sure that you are in it to succeed. I’m on a 1200 calorie diet as of right now 80 gr of protein a day low carbs, low fat, 30 minutes of walking 5 days a week. I’m expected to lose 2 lbs a week. I’m leaning toward RNY but Open to the sleeve as well. I started out weighing 296lbs on Jan 1st today I weighed in at 273lbs I am doing very well on this and actually have lost 23 lbs so far. My right knee no longer hurts and I don’t limp when I walk. So I’m excited for my next appointment to report back. I log everything I have found some really great recipes, and am enjoying this journey for once I’ve set goals that I believe are reachable. Danielle goals are important make sure you make them I’ve got all kinds of cool ideas if you’d like some. I would love to help you and I’d love to have you be my buddy as well. Best wishes with this journey your on you can do it!!!! Thanks Jennifer
