February 2019 weight loss buds
Rayeh7 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I love chocolate milk. I will try the fairlife chocolate. I mix my smoothies with the plain but don't like drinking plain unless it's with pancakes or PB&J, all of which i'm not doing yet. I go for my next appointment tomorrow. Thanks for the water info. I totally forgot about that. I did finally find a protein powder I liked. I asked the clerk at GNC for suggestions and he said this is what most of their clients like. It's GNC Pro Performance. You only mix it with 6oz liquid which I like to because I can get my protein in quicker without moving it with 10-11oz. -

My nutritionist suggested not doing puree at all, just soft foods. She said doing puree won't train you to chew sufficiently for when you progress to the next stage. This stage has been very easy as far as meals but I went through a period of not being able to tolerate water or protein. No matter how small the sip, water would feel like it wasn't going down and I had a very uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. Even my flavor add ins didn't smooth the water texture and my taste buds did something crazy and I couldn't stand the taste of ANY protein drinks. I made so many different recipes, took one taste and poured it out. I have found an unflavored that I can finally tolerate with orange juice and tons of ice. I'm concerned that I've yet to reach my water or protein goals and i'm now 5 weeks out. I went through a full week of extreme fatigue that I couldn't shake but I looked at my discharge paper work that stated fatigue in weeks 2-4 was normal. Today I finally got in 36ozs of water but only about 20oz protein. I feel like there's not enough time in a day or room in my pouch to consume enough. -
How long will i have pain in my belly after gastric bypass?
Rayeh7 replied to Gottajustdoit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's surgery pain instead of gas. My dr. Told me to expect it. I'm 16 days out now and mine is easing up a lot but I still feel it in certain positions. -

Goody222, i'm on day 15 and i'm ready to get back to living. I'm needing less and less recuperating but i'm trying to not overdo anything. I go for my 1st post OP appt tomorrow and an looking forward to more food variety. I've downloaded some great bariatric cookbooks on Kendal and can't wait to try some of the puree meals. Good luck on your surgery, try patients during recovery, and remember; this too shall pass. Before you know it you will be living your best life. -

I am entering day 15. My left side pain is lessening, i'm sleeping better, off pain meds, feeling a little more energy and looking forward to my puree stage Friday. All in all I think things are going pretty good for me and i'm excited for the future. The rough patches will pass. I've had multiple surgeries so I think I was familiar with the recovery process. -

It's part of the healing process to allow your stomach to wake up and start fully functioning. -
Taking Pills After Surgery
Rayeh7 replied to Recidivist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried crushing and mixing Mine with a bit of flavored water but it's so gross I stopped after about a week. Now I space mine out(I take several) and keep the size in mind. If they are small I take as is and I portion the larger ones in quarters or more. It has worked for me except the other night I took 2 tylenol pm and only broke them in half and didn't remove the casing and I got nauseated. Next time I will remove using and cut smaller. -

Prior to my surgery, I was told that most of my post op pain would be in that area. Are you allowing yourself pain meds? It may just be from surgery. -
Good morning bariatric pals, I am sitting at the hospital waiting to be called back to start my new journey. I'm so excited and can't wait until this part and the recovery is over. I'm praying for my other surgery buddies who are also having surgery today.

Hi surgery buddies, sorry it's been a while since my last post. Day one following surgery was great then day 2 went a little towards left field. I had my 1st bm and it was total blood which continued for the next 2 days. My hemoglobin dropped to low and I had to get 2 pints of blood. My energy dropped also and I was only allowed to sit up for a few minutes periodically. During my surgery they noticed an embilical hernia that they repaired and somehow it was partially entangled with my intestines. It appears that I was losing blood in my intestines but it stopped on its own without me having to have more surgery. I finally got discharged yesterday February 10th(which was the 1st anniversary of my husband's passing so I was mega glad to be back home with my family). My surgery journey was more then I expected but I have great hopes for the rest of my recovery process and my new me. Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes.

Good morning James Marusek. Everything went great! Even better then I expected. I walked to my door and sat for nearly an hour yesterday. I just had my first sip on my phase 1 crystal light.

I did the same thing yesterday even amidst my strong faith. Thankfully everything went great. I do have some pain but it is much better then I thought it would be. I even walked to my door and back to chair where I sat for almost an hour.....yay me and I can't wait to say: yay you!

Hi Greg White, I just made it to the hospital. This has been a great two weeks and I can't wait to see what the future holds. Best wishes to you on today and throughout your journey.

Well my diet was a little more restrictive. I could only eat 1 lean meal a day. -
Awesome, I saw an ice cream recipe in one of my gastric cook books so...i now I want to buy an ice cream maker. Enjoy!

My pre OP diet allows me to have 1 low carb low fat meal a day. I went to Red Lobster on the weekend with my daughter and was able to eat a nice meal that was less then 700 calories. -
This is why this forum is so great. I would have never known to expect a possible problem with plain water post OP without this post. Thanks for sharing, i'm learning even more than I did from my nutritionist who I consider very thorough.

I started my pre OP diet on the 22nd. Pickles usually do the trick for me and I was told I could have them during the liver diet and could even sip pickle juice during my liquid phases. -

It is right around the corner. My liver diet has gone surprisingly well thus far, I thought it would be harder. I'm glad my surgery will be early in the morning. I'm scheduled for 7:00 am and it can't get here soon enough for me. -

I'm glad I found this forum. My surgery date is scheduled for February 5th. I went for my pre OP Friday to get my final pre surgery instructions. I've already bought my utensils, multi vitamins, protein shakes and powders and have my shopping list ready for needed fresh ingredients; any suggestions of other things I may need? I read someone said lip balm and nasal spray for hosp so I will pack that and comfy clothes. -
I will be 56 in April and my surgery is scheduled for Feb 5th. I'm so looking forward to it and a new lease on the next stage of my life.

Awesome, that's the same date of my surgery. Looking forward to a great journey together. I didn't think about sf popsicles or chrystal light, good idea. -
