    Surgery after lap band?

Thank you all so much for your advice! I appreciate it!
  2. Has anyone had a surgery after having their lap band put in? I am facing shoulder surgery April 1st and I remember reading somewhere that if you were to have surgery you needed to drain the band. I just reached the sweet spot at 7 months post op and I am not going to drain my band. Has anyone had to do this and if so what happens afterwards? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

    Surgery after lap band?

I am just leary because my band Dr. is so weird about not putting too much fluid in at a time that I can't see her putting back 9.3 cc's all at once. Thanks for your story of your experience!
  4. Hello! My Doctor said that the feeling in the chest like that is because the esophagus is spasming trying to pass food through. I had that feeling a lot right after surgery- unfortunately I am at a point now where I am hungry and can eat more Fill next week thank goodness!
  5. KRTORK: I am also having surgery August 5th and the panics have sunk in. I was thinking the same thing - what if they can't do it and such. I will be glad when it is all over with and I am back home recuperating!
  6. I had a dream last night I overslept and missed the surgery. Then they told me I had to wait a year to get it. Ugh
  7. I have also started having little freak outs. I was thinking yesterday about how I will never be able to have a big Thanksgiving dinner again (I know, that isn't a bad idea) but it just made me think of all kinds of things. I have been waiting for this surgery for 3 months and now I am down to 10 days and I can't help but freak out. Especially when all my friends question me about it all the time. My problem is a fear of the unknown. I am sure everything will be perfectly fine and I will adapt well to the new lifestyle. Jenbug: Telling people is purely your own decision. I personally need the support of friends and family but you seem to already know they would have a negative reaction. Thing is if you tell them afterwards they can't really say anything cause it's already done :tt2:
  8. Thank You!! That is great!! Don't think I'll need the tongs though LOL
  9. Hi again Guys!! I said goodbye to Spaghetti'Os too LOL And pringles, and top ramen........ Ok so I am 15 days till surgery now. Getting a little freaked out but I'll manage. Any ideas of what I should stock my house with for my recuperation?
  10. Hi! It is totally natural to be scared. I am scared to death. I love food and associate it with all the fun things in life. Just remember why you are doing this and also you can still have good food down the road - just smaller quantities of it. Be scared all you want - you are allowed. :tongue_smilie:
  11. That's funny - I had boston cream pie w/ chocolate this morning! Genius minds.....:tongue_smilie:
  12. My dad said the same thing! Frustrating isn't it? LOL at the rocking back and forth in the corner also. :tt1: Cutie - When I make my Smoothies I use the protein powder the surgeon gave me (strawberry), a 1/2 container of flavored fat free yogurt (Strawberry Cheesecake) , 1/2 a banana and 8 oz. skim milk and ice. I got a little smoothie mixer at Walmart that is great! It is yummy! Have any of you tried the Swanson canned chicken? It is yummy! Pure protein also. That is what I eat for lunch everyday. I've heard it comes in handy after banding also.
  13. Yeah I got a banner! Thanks for the tip! Well I slipped off the pre-op diet wagon last night to say goodbye to my favorite steakhouse. Actually just had steak so didn't cheat that much. So back on the diet full force today. Mine consists of 3 protein smoothies and 3 protein meals. I am not starving but I am bored with the food! Anyone in my area of Marietta/Atlanta? Where is everyone from?
  14. Hi Guys! I get banded August 5th!! I have been waiting since May so I am excited that I am already to the 23 day countdown. I have to do a pre-op diet for a month so I have already started and lost 5 lbs. I am all for having some support from other August people

hello out there, a newbie here

Hi Dixiechic! Wow - I won't even comment on the ex husband LOL Anyhoo, I have Bc/Bs in Georgia and my employer specifically excluded Bariatric surgery. If that is the case that is a dead end. I am opting to self pay and I am paying 16,500 for the entire package. Alicia Surgery date: 8/5/08

    Dr. Daly Anyone?

How much does Dr. Daly charge for self pay? I am starting the self pay process myself and I am shopping around. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
  18. Hello All! New to the board. I just made the decision this week to pursue banding. I am self pay so basically the only big decision I have is what Doctor/Center to choose. I would love any advice on the surgery itself or any Atlanta related advice. I am 41 years old and currently weigh 285 lbs. I am excited about pursuing this option and excited to meet people in the same boat as me :frown:
