MsJess82 replied to alycejo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first consultant on Jan 8 2009 and then the surgery on May 25. I had to wait for my private health insurance to kick over the 12months. So it could of been April 09 however she wasnt free, so May 25 it was! -
Hey Guys I went and my clinic last week, week before. Ive been a bit busy with my studies, im studying Law and its exam time, so im just focusing on that. However, he put 4ml and ill be seeing them again on Nov 17. I havent really been following anything too strictly due to crazy hours with study. But lets see how i go.

So i went and saw the clinic and they drained me again! I am sooo depressed over it, whenever they put it in after March, they only gave me 2ml at the beginning, then 0.5ml each time. Im on a liquid diet for a few days but i think i will do it for a week or more and when i feel normal again ill do mushies, i just really want this weight to come off. I see a personal trainer twice a week and the weightloss is just so slow. I am going back to see them next week. So i wonder what is going to happen.

Hi Guys In March 2010, i had 7.5ml in my band and i felt sick and i ended up throwing up for hours. I contacted the Emergency Hours number for my clinic and they took all the Fluid out. Now in October 2010 today, im having lots of pain in my stomach area, it doesnt feel like anything is stuck (been there done that) but i have an appointment at 2pm to get checked out. I now have 6ml in my band as of Wednesday when he put 0.5ml in. Of course its a Public Holiday here in Adelaide so the fees will be enormous, but all im thinking is, is it worth it? I dont want the surgeon to drain it all again- it sucks having to start the process again. Ill let you all know what happens.

Hi I had my surgery in May 2009 and I havent lost any weight since the mushie stage. I will be the first to admit that I havent been following the diet correctly, and life has gotten in the way. I ended a 4 year relationship after a complication with the band - it was too tight so they needed to drain it all and im starting again. Ive lost 15kg in total, which is great, but I havent been able to kick past it. I really need to work on it but i am lacking serious motivation. What keeps everyone motivated?

I was originally going to go with Dr Bessell but switched to Dr Lilian Kow, she is amazing, the entire team at Circle of Care is just inspirational. I have a follow up appointment tomorrow i am 15 months post surgery and with anything they are helpful. I have had a few set backs but regardless the team is just wonderful. Im looking forward to the appointment tomorrow. Good Luck with your choice.

That is exciting Kyla - best of luck! Im sure its all going to go great! i can not believe how great i feel with the band, i myself just need to exercise to shift the weight, so im psyching myself up for that. Since end of May ive lost 15kg in total, im so happy about that! Just a few more kg to go!

hey guys im back, ive moved house and finally have the internet connected! I went and saw my clinic today and gotmy first fill, i learned that i have a 11ml band and i now have 4ml in it and i should start to have some restriction which will be great! i have to do mushies for 2 days and then i can continue with solids. im starting to get my groove back, ive resigned from my current job and i have accepted a position closer to home which is walking distance, so there is my 30 mins of exercise a day, i have also joined a gym which is a 5 min walk so i will go to that 3 times a week. My new job starts on Monday so bring on August! i have my next appointment on Oct 2, so i hope to lose 10kg by then.

Tarob -Wow, really only 2 months to go, thats going to fly! 8kg, thats doable 500grams a week! Small steps tho, dont worry if you dont lose it all in one go, its the lifestyle changes that will make it all worthwhile! Ive got my first appointment next week - hopefully ill get a fill. I resigned from my job so im thinking they wont let me have time off so what to do, ill think of something. The past few days ive been moving house, and im still moving - havent unpacked, just small bits, cant wait til its all moved then i can unpack and decorate my house. I cant believe i bought a house - its so awesome. I dont have the internet at home so i prob wont be back for a week or two. good luck to those getting banded!

The first week on fluids is awesome because there is definitely restriction, i lost 4kg that week. The second week for me was hit and miss, some days felt hungry others not. I didnt lose any weight that week. Week 3 i was ready to eat solids however couldnt and this made me snappy haha. Week 4 i started to introduce mushies. In that 4 week cycle i lost 4.9kg in total. Which is good i reckon :frown:

She was my surgeon - she was so great, youre in great hands! Have you started a count down? I starting counting down like 4 months before the surgery hehe

Hi Choney I went through the Adelaide Bariatric Clinic and there are two surgeons there. Dr Lilian Kow (lovely, amazing lady) and Prof James Touli They practice at either Flinders Private at Bedford Park or at Calvary Private in North Adelaide. Both really well respected surgeons could not be more happy with how i have been treated pre and post surgery
