    Adelaide Bandsters???

Omg First 6 weeks for recovery - i feel like im normal, ok maybe i cant run a marathon - not that i could before the band, but still. Oh goodness if i had 5 weeks of not losing anything i think i would cry, i would want restriction! How did you get through the 5 weeks Leah? I think i might just do walks as long as the weather calms down with the rain - although i could do the step thing on Wii Fit - yeah thats an option and i could do it in my pj's! Wooohoo. Im going to call them tomorrow anyway as im going back to work tomorrow and ive lost my Sick Certificate i need them to write another one! Eeek! I never lose things! What is wrong with me!

Congrats on getting the date Maricole, i remembered when i got mine! I was just over the moon, it made it feel more real. This week guys i lost nothing! On Wii Fit it said 0.0kg! I really need to do the exercise i think and cut back on my drinking stuff. I am going to make a diligent effort this week. I want to have better results than this!

    Adelaide Bandsters???

Tarob - it really sucks with people like that, its just makes you wonder why you confided in them in the first place, clearly your best interests are not being met. Have a look at my blog under Telling People about some of the different reactions i got my blog is on jessquest.com Trish - when were you able to go back to gym. Your 20kg has motivated me to keep on with the liquids, im just going to have to get more creative with liquids for the remaining days. Leah - How you felt any restriction yet? i can not wait until i get restriction. I have nothing atm, i know my surgeon just put an empty band in there, if only the weeks upto solids were like the first week when i was swollen!

Hey Trish - how long did you have to do liquid for? i am going insane, i have another 16 days left on liquids. Thats amazing 20kg so far! When did you get banded? I am in aww of your 20kg. I think that might keep me going thru this awful liquid stage.

    Adelaide Bandsters???

Congrats Kitty on getting a surgery date, i remember i was so happy to get a date, something to work towards. Hopefully it will be here in no time for you.
  11. I had my surgery on 25 May and was released on 26 May, the afternoon of 26 May i was called for an assessment centre the following morning. I told the recruitment company that i literally was just released from Hospital and that i would attend but if they could take that into consideration. I caught the Train into the city and then a Tram to the closest stop to the building. I took some pain killers and walked on in. They knew i would be walking slowly etc, and they actually got me through the assessment centre first (role play, group questions, computer test and mini interview) i was told at 4pm that i was successful for round two, which was the following day at 9am! So i just drugged myself up and went for it. Being drugged up i wasnt as composed as i usually would be, i was not sure if the recruitment company had advised them of it, so as i sarted to explain that if i needed to talk a break all of sudden i was crying! I couldnt believe it! I dont think ill get after that among other things but you never know, i should find out today or tomorrow.

    Adelaide Bandsters???

September will be here before you know it! I remember when i had to wait a whole year, April 2008 to April 2009 for my private health insurance to lapse the 12 months, and then my surgery was scheduled for end of May 2009 so really 13 months! The time did so fast which was great. I remembers counting months, and then in the New Year days! Im sure it will all go as planned!

    Adelaide Bandsters???

It was 4 other appointments before the surgery took place. If it was just once each with them all, i probably would of continued. My mum is a theatre nurse in Brisbane, so i asked her to suss out from the surgeons there who they would recommend for Banding in Adelaide. They mentioned Dr Kow and didnt mention any other Doctor, so i knew i was in good hands. dont get me wrong, i think Dr Bessell would be completely competant, look at all your results, but i thought cheaper and a recommendation was good enough although i know Health is priceless.

    Adelaide Bandsters???

Hey Guys Im in Adelaide too, i was banded by Dr Lilian Kow at Flinders Private Hospital on 25 May 2009. The group i went through was the Adelaide Bariatric Centre at Flinders Private. I originally was going to go through Dr Bessell, but Dr Kow was cheaper, my surgery did not cost a cent, it was covered by all of my health insurance. She did charge a fee of $2200, for the appointments with the Dietician, Psychologist, Personal trainer etc tho. I did start the process with Dr Bessell, but the Psychologist wanted to see me an additional 4 times! I could only imagine what the other people wanted. Dr Kow was awesome, she was so professional and so nice. I was on a ward with other newly lapbanders. Would not hesitate to recommend her to other people considering it.

    Banded 5/26th - questions

My surgeon advised me that anything i can suck down a straw was great for the next four weeks. I was banded on 25 May 2009. I had been living on juice and Cup of Soups and Mousse and yesterday 30 May 2009 i was really really really hungry. The other days i didnt know if i was hungry or not and had to force myself to drink something. I found yesterday my partner made me a smoothie banana (blended) and Honey with low fat yoghurt and milk, and that did the trick!
  16. i am very much hoping that the year will pass quickly, sometimes im an impatient person for various reasons and this is one of them! Best of luck with your surgery, 6mnths to wait before surgery wow! I wish Australian Health Insurance was like that! Only a few more months to go for you. *claps*
  17. Hi Everyone I originally thought that i would never have a surgery to get rid of my weight. But a work colleague of mine was talking about what she was having done. I attended a seminar and i am sold!!! As the surgery costs $15,000 im not in a financial position to have it done straight away, so ive opted for Private Health Insurance and now need to wait 12mnths before i can have the surgery. May 09 should be when i am banded. I am very happy with the clinic that i am going to have this done through. I am pleased that they will monitor my progress until i eventually die haha. My story is pretty much the same as everyone else's but slightly different as we are all unique. I have been overweight since i was 5, never felt confident with my body, im currently 130+kgs and hope to lose 20kgs+ before my surgery but i know that this will be a battle so ill be happy with 15kgs. My partner is very supportive and i am glad that i have him in my life. As i am qualified personal trainer i am excited to advise my clients (when i get them) to give this procedure a go, if they have been struggling with their weight for over 5yrs. Im sure ill have more to say closer to the date of the lifechanging banding but i thought id say hi *waves* and i think you are all very brave and im grateful that you are sharing your experiences with me.
