At my 1 week post -op my surgeon told me that because my surgery went very well, and as long as I was getting in at least 64 oz of fluids daily he expected me to tell him I was feeling a bit hungry. He told me to add in a Greek yogurt, making sure the sugar was 12g or less and it did not have any fruit chucks. Just smooth. Hope this helps!

Gastric sleeve and fibromyalgia
MMC8021 replied to Binglebug1977's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too live with Fibromyalgia, and also RA and Lupus. I am 2 weeks post-op. I had the sleeve surgery and I am so happy I did! I too was very nervous and I have to say I’ve ready lost 20lbs and I can feel the difference! I’m so happy , I wake up with a lot less pain after only 2 weeks and 20lbs. I am pleasantly surprised at how good I feel and how much better my chronic pain is. I know this will not be a cure , but without a doubt only good positive things can come from carrying around 100lbs less of me 😊. I wish you all the best on your journey. -
I am 2 weeks post op and find that I’m very bloated and gasey after I drink my protein shakes with skim milk or 1% milk. . I decided to try the fairlife milk as my PA recommended it in pre-op class if we found we were sensitive to milk. I have to say the Fairlife milk 1% tastes thicker and heavier then whole milk. I can’t tolerate it. Feels like I’m using heavy cream to make my shakes. I do add a few ice cubes to my protein shakes and blend them in my small blender. It makes them a bit more tolerable. The ice breaks down completely and just makes the shake frothy and taste better.

I’m 1 week post-op today, and it is already very easy to drink my clear fluids. I’m easily getting in my 64 ounces daily and then some as I am a big water drinker. I am concerned that where it is so easy to swallow and drink fluids , I could unknowingly stretch my stomach. My PA told me my stomach acts as a funnel and then fluids are going right through , but I just wanted to ask if this is normal 1 week post op. Not that I’m complaining that it doesn’t hurt anymore , I just know they said I would have to sip my 1 ounce every 15 minutes and that ended on day 5!

VSG in less than 12hrs! I'm a nervous wreck!

It’s normal to be nervous. I am 1 week post op today , and I was very nervous too. I take a lot of medications including anxiety medicine and they did tell me to go ahead and take a Klonapin the morning of my surgery. They also gave me something else before I went in to the OR to keep me relaxed. You will do great. Try to relax today. Just focus on all the wonderful positive changes you have ahead! Good luck tomorrow keep us posted -
Need a little support , I had my sleeve Jan 7th. My Italian father came to visit and cooked one of our favorite meals today, so while he and my husband are relaxing over a cigar , my entire house is filled with the smells of the delicious meal in the oven all afternoon. Never mind that my adult boys , along with my hub and dad all had appetizers all afternoon. I finally had to come up to my bedroom, although my entire house smells like the food now. I thought it wouldnt bother me as I am not hungry , but to sit there all day was just too much. I’m hiding upstairs. I don’t want anyone to see me upset. This surgery was my decision, right ? Ughhh

Thank you Teddy8183 and Donna. Congratulations on your weight loss ! And yes I do agree it seems “ not nice”. My kids and hub kept trying to put the food away , but my dad is very fixed in his ways. He did ask before as every time he spends the weekend he likes to cook. I just didn’t realize how much it would affect me emotionally. And he could have chosen something simple not an all day affair. 😂

This sounds like pain from gas. I am only 6 days post-op and have it often. It can be quite painful. The only thing that can help alleviate this is to walk around, and to “ release “ ( sorry not a comfortable topic for me lol ) . I have been told Gas-X can help but I haven’t tried that yet. Best of Luck

I just came home from hospital today, had the gastric sleeve surgery monday. Every time I swallow a small sip I hav ea sharp intense pain in my esophagus. My surgeon said this is normal but doesn’t happen very often. Has anyone else experienced this? It makes taking my medications very painful.
