Liquid pooling in my throat at night....
StrangeDz replied to March27's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am in the same position. I'm going next week (it's a 4 hour drive to my surgeon) to have a little taken out because I cant seem to get more than 16 oz of liquids in and can only eat about an 1/8 of a cup of food. I'm finding myself eating pretzels and cheetos because it's easier. Not good! Plus I've been having acid pool up in my throat in the middle of the night. I've never had this problem before. All this started with my last fill 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm thinking it was a bit much... -
Chew on 3 papaya tablets! It's a natural enzyme and it helps me every time! I feel relief within 5 minutes! You can get them at walmart or Walgreens in the vitamin section for about 5 bucks. Good luck!

I've been banded for just about 2 1/2 years and for me it has been a very slow process. It has taken 14 fills to get to that elusive 'sweet spot'. Until you get there, you worry that you aren't doing it right or that it wont work for you... dont fear, when you get the restriction you need, IT WILL WORK! I am FINALLY at a point where I am only eating 1/4 cup of food at a time and am losing weight like gang busters! I've lost 12 pounds this month alone! Dont give up and most importantly, dont compare your loss to anyone else's! Some people lose very fast and some dont; like me!

It's taken 2 1/2 years for me to reach the elusive 'sweet spot', so dont worry too soon. I was able to drink pretty good until this last fill. Enjoy while you can!

Since my last fill 'gulping' is a thing of the past! I was a gulper! Now I have to sip very very tiny sips. Never seems to be enough! Even popsicles get stuck if I eat them too fast!
-
It bugs me too when I get the third degree at restaurants! Makes me crazy, so I too, sometimes get water JUST so they will leave me alone! Not drinking during and after is really hard for me. I'm suppose to wait 1-2 HOURS after a meal, but dang it, i'm always SO thirsty! Since my last fill, I am really having a hard time getting much liquid in. I usually cheat and do 45 mins after eating. Shhhhhhhhh... :w00t:

Same here. Since my last fill, I cant drink during or after meals or I puke it all up!

Cheetos are EVIL! :huh2: Since my last fill, it seems that is the only thing I CAN digest! Damn those Cheetos! I'm thinking of going in for a slight unfill next week, if things dont get better for me... I have to drive to another state, so I'm hoping they do... -
I can't keep anything down..I'm freaking out.
StrangeDz replied to MichelleBee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc's nurse just called and said to go on warm liquids for 2 days. She also said that my stomach might be irritated from all the gacking. If I dont feel much better by Friday, she wants me to schedule a visit to have some Fluid removed next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me that that's all it is. My doc is a 4 hour drive away, so I'm hoping this warm liquid thing will do it! -

I feel the same way! I'm wondering if I need an unfill. Since my last fill, I cant eat or drink much of anything without having to gack it back up... even liquids! -

Getting stuck hurts!!!
StrangeDz replied to Rebeccastl615's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I buy mine at Wal-Mart. About 5 bucks for a bottle. I'd think any drug store like Walgreens would have them too! -
Thanks for your encouragement!

I've been on amitriptyline for my depression for about 5 years now and I never had any problems until after a fill this last April. About 15 minutes after taking them, I start to puke violently! Now my band is so tight, it is physically impossible to puke so I dry heave! Its so painful and it makes me cry! My surgeon swears its not the band because its not getting 'stuck' and my primary doc has been trying all sorts of anti nausea pills to stop the dry heaving. None have helped at all, so after much discussion with my surgeon and doc, we think I may be taking too high a dose now that I've lost 80 pounds and may be overdosing! I'm slowly decreasing my dosage, but have to use anti nausea suppositories until we can figure this out. I hate suppositories! ...but then who likes 'em, huh?? Sometimes I have to take 2 or 3 to keep myself from getting violently sick. Lowering the dosage of course, brings on withdrawal from the amiltriptyline and is so hard on me. The withdrawal causes dizziness, drowsiness and lethargy. I am so tired I dont want to do anything! Getting my big butt up every morning just to get to work is an ordeal! Granted, I'm not sad, so it doesnt feel like depression, i'm just so sleepy! They say its my neural transmitters that dont know how to work on their own and it will pass. In the mean time, I dont want exercise. I find it hard to even do simple chores when I get home from work. ugh! I dread taking my pills at night, but they have been the only med that has actually helped with my depression. I'm just hoping this is the answer and I can get back to my life and this nightmare will be over soon!
