    Not loosing

I only lost weight the first week. I had a good loss tbh. Then I gained like 5-6 the following three weeks. It was demotivating but I stuck through. I had read about this online. Starting 5th week, I dropped 10lbs in a week. It was a good motivator. Hang in there.

    January 2019 sleevers

I have realized when you are overweight, people find it difficult to tell the difference. For instance, I had my surgery on January 31st and I have lost 40lbs since pre-surgery diet. My father made a comment about how he couldn't tell at all. He can only tell my face looks smaller. So I showed him a before picture and he was like WOW. I have a cousin who made similar comment. I think it has to be drastic for people to notice. But you know what counts? I notice. I can fit into my old clothes. I have clothes in all sizes and it makes me feel better. Stay positive! Take measurements. That helps.

    The dreaded gas

I had mine on Jan 31. When I first got out, it was terrible in recovery. Once in my room and as I started walking, it wasn't bad. I walked whenever I could as it made me feel better.

    Mourning Food and Water

angie, It is normal to feel this way. I think you will so great. Be positive. The hunger factor going away makes things easier. Some days are harder than others, however if you keep your eye on the goal, it's all worth it. The results definitely help.

    Mourning Food and Water

I understand. I feel all my social life kind of revolved around eating and drinking! Girls night, restaurants, bars and what not. Now I go to the movies a lot. I also watch a lot of pictures of food and videos ahha totally unhealthy but I do not get the urge to eat anything as i am seldom ever hungry.

    Discouraging

I didn't lose anything for almost 3 weeks. I am at 5 weeks. I actually gained back 4-5lbs. I ate no more than 300 calories even less. 5th week I dropped weight all of a sudden. 10lbs down. It does suck, however don't get demotivated. Don't get on the scale. Keep focused. Good luck.

    Disappointed

I had mine on Jan 31st. Scale hasn't moved the past two weeks. It is frustrating as I barely can eat. Eating is a chore. But no weight loss :/ I am not getting 60-80g of protein. Is this an issue?

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

I had my surgery on January 31st. Everytime I take a sip, it hurts. Cramps. I think it may have something to do with the gas.

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

I got the call. I have to be at the hospital at 5:00AM tomorrow. I am excited yet very nervous as I have never had any type of surgery before. Can't wait for this part to be over so I can start my journey to being healthier.
  12. I had a BMI of over 50 and was always recommended a VSG. I am now at about BMI 51 and my surgery is January 31st.
  13. I started in 2017 feb. I didn't realize nurse practitioners visits did not count. Had to restart, missed a session and restart. I was also in the mode that I could do it myself. Then really 7 consecutive visits, card eval(stress test), 14 day cpap machine compliance, primary doc approval. 3 different records from 3 years that showed obesity. Insurance approval came back within 4 days. I have BCBS of AL.
